일본 요코하마 대기 중 PCBs의 가스-입자 분배 (Gas-Particle Partitioning of PCBs in Ambient Air, Yokohama Japan)

  • This study was aimed at estimation of gas-particle partitioning of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in ambient air. The samples were collected at urban site in Japan from March 2002 to January 2003. The concentration of total PCBs (from 4 CB to 10 CB) and TEQ (Toxic equivalent) ranged from 62 to $247\;pg/m^3$ and from 2 to $14\;fgTEQ/m^3 $, respectively. The average contribution $(\%)$ of gas phase to total PCBs concentration was above $80\%$, which suggests that in the atmosphere PCBs predominantly existed in the gas phase. The weak correlations between total PCBs concentration and temperature was found. However this result was due to a typhoon during summer and raining during sampling period. The gas-particle partition coefficient (Kp) was obtained as a function of temperature. The partition ratio of gaseous and particulate phase PCBs can be estimated for an arbitrary temperature. The plot of gas/particle partition coefficient (log Kp) vs. sub-cooled liquid vapor pressure $(log\;P_L)$ had reasonable correlations for individual samples but the slope varied among the samples (coefficients of determination for log Kp versus log $P_L$ plot were> 0.76 $(p<0.0001)$, except for 3 samples). As a result, the variations in the slope among the sampling period may be due to change of temperature, raining during sampling period and wind in this study.

내산화 및 열차폐 코팅처리 가스터빈 블레이드의 균열거동 (Crack Initiation and Propagation at the Gas Turbine Blade with Antioxidation and Thermal Barrier Coating)

  • Gas turbines operation for power generation increased rapidly since 1990 due to the high efficiency in combined cycle, relatively low construction cost and low emission. But the operation and maintenance cost for gas turbine is high because the expensive superalloy hot gas path parts should be repaired and replaced periodically This study analyzed the initiation and propagation of the crack at the gas turbine blades which are coated with MCrAIY as a bond coat and TBC as a top coat. The sample blades had been serviced at the actual gas turbines for power generation. Total 7 sets of blades were analyzed and they have different EOH(equivalent operation hour). Blades were sectioned and the cracking distribution were measured and analyzed utilizing SEM(scanning electron microscope) and optical microscope. The blades which had 52,000 EOH of operation had cracks at the substrate and the maximum depth was 0.2 mm. Most of the cracks initiated at the boundary layer between TBC and bond coat and propagated down to the bond coat. Once bond coat is cracked, the base metal is exposed to the oxidation condition and undergoes notch effect. Under this environment, the crack branched at the inter-diffusion layer and propagated to the substrate. Critical cracks affecting the blade life were analyzed as those on suction side and platform.

자동차용 CNG 충전니플의 밀봉접촉응력에 관한 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis on the Sealing Contact Stress of a CNG Fueling Nipple for Vehicles)

  • 본 연구에서는 압축천연가스 자동차용으로 사용하는 CNG 충전니플의 밀봉성과 밀봉내구 안전성에 관련된 접촉법선응력 및 등가진응력을 유한요소법으로 해석하였다. 기존의 원형 오링과 새로운 더블립 오링에 초기압축률 15%를 가한 상태에서 밀봉력을 해석한 결과에 의하면, 두 곳에서 밀봉작용을 하는 더블립 오링이 한곳에서 밀봉작용을 하는 기존의 원형 오링보다 41% 더 높게 나타남을 알 수 있다. 오링에 초기압축력 15%와 가스압축압력 8MPa을 작용한 상태에서 가스누출 차단 안전성을 비교하면, 기존의 원형 오링보다는 더블립 오링에서 5% 향상된 해석결과를 제시하고 있다. 또한, 오링의 밀봉내구 안전성을 비교한 FEM 해석결과에 의하면, 원형 오링보다는 더블립 오링에서 발생된 최대등가진응력이 10.2%나 더 높게 발생한 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 더블립 오링이 기존의 원형 오링보다는 장수명을 보장할 수 있다는 것이다.

연직배수시스템을 이용한 토양증기추출공법의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Soil Vapor Extraction Using Prefabricated Vertical Drain System)

  • 토양증기추출공법(SVE)은 불포화 지반상태에서 휘발성 유기화합물(VOCs)과 유류오염 물질을 제거하는데 효과적이고 경제적인 공법중 하나이다. 그러나 토양증기추출공법은 투기계수가 1 Darcy보다 작은 실트질 흙과 같이 낮은 투기계수를 가진 지반에서는 비효율적이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존 연약지반의 지반개량시 사용된 연직배수재(PVDs)를 토양증기추출시스템에 적용하여 짧은 공기배출거리로 최대한 신속하게 오염물질을 제거할 수 있게 하여 투기계수가 낮은 지반에서 오염된 토양을 효과적으로 복원할 수 있는 토양증기추출공법을 적용하는데 목적이 있다. 실험결과, 등가직경이 증가할수록 계산된 투기계수의 값은 감소하였고, 흙시료의 조건이 건조상태일 경우가 습윤상태 보다 공기가 차지하는 비율이 더 커지게 되어 같은 진공이 주어졌을 때, 공기흐름에 대한 낮은 저항으로 흐름률이 더 높게 나타났다.

150 MW급 가스터빈 저압 1단 회전익 교체주기 연장 가능성 연구 (Extension Feasibility on Replacement Cycle of Rotor Blade Equipped for Low Pressure First Stage in a 150 MW Gas Turbine)

  • 국내 A 복합발전소에서 운전 중인 150 MW급 가스터빈 저압 1단 회전익의 교체주기 연장가능성을 다각적으로 모색하였다. 제작사가 추천한 24,000 등가운전시간 이상을 사용한 저압 1단 회전익의 외관검사, 열차폐코팅 제거 후 모재의 표면검사 및 균열검사를 각각 실시하였다. 또한 제작사별 150 MW급 가스터빈의 교체주기를 비교 분석하였다. 제작사가 추천한 24,000 등가운전시간 이상이 경과하여 27,000 등가운전시간을 운전한 저압의 외관을 검사한 결과 냉각홀 부위에 다수의 균열이 관찰되었다. 그러나 열차폐코팅을 제거한 상태에서 실시한 모재의 표면검사에서는 균열이 거의 관찰되지 않았으며, 모재까지 진행된 일부 미세 균열에 대해서는 절단면 검사를 통하여 균열깊이가 기능에 영향을 미치지 않는 수준임을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구대상 가스터빈 저압 1단 회전익의 교체정비주기는 현행 24,000 등가운전시간에서 3,000 등가운전시간의 연장이 가능할 것으로 보인다. 또한 연구대상 저압 1단 회전익에 대하여 제작사가 추천한 교체주기는 타제작사 1단 회전익 교체주기의 2/3 수준으로 짧게 설정되어 있어 교체주기 연장이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Gibbs 함수의 포텐샬로 해석한 토양 흡착수 (Adsorbed Water in Soil a Interpreted by Its Potentials Based on Gibbs Function)

  • Usual experimental adsorption isotherms as a function of relative humidity were constructed from adsorbed water contents in soils, which were kept more than 2 days in vacuum desiccators with constant humidities controlled by sulfuric acids of various concentrations. From the experimental data, the adsorption surface areas were calculated on the basis of the existing adsorption theory, such as Langmuir, BET, and Aranovich. Based on the Gibbs function describing chemical potential of perfect gas, the relative humidities in the desiccators were transformed into their chemical potentials, which were assumed to be the same as the potentials of equilibratedly adsorbed water in soils. Moreover, the water potentials were again transformed into the equivalent capillary pressures, heads of capillary rise, and equivalent radius of capillary pores, on the basis of Laplace equation for surface tension pressure of spherical bubbles in water. Adsorption quantity distributions were calculated on the profile of chemical potentials of the adsorbed water, equivalent adsorption and/or capillary pressures, and equivalent capillary radius. The suggested theories were proved through its application for the prediction of temperature rise of sulfuric acid due to hydration heat. Adsorption heat calculated on the basis of the potential difference was dependant on various factors, such as surface area, equilibrium constants in Langumuir, BET, etc.

EGR Valve의 구조 안전성 해석에 관한 연구 (Study on Structural Safety Analysis of EGR Valve)

  • This study analyzes thermal stress and durability fatigue on the modelling of EGR valve. In case of 10% opening at its inlet, the minimum temperature gets cool as 3 times as inlet temperature. The maximum equivalent stress becomes lowest as the value of $2.6274{\times}109$ Pa and fatigue life becomes highest as 23.657 Cycle. But the minimum temperature gets cool as 2.2 times as inlet temperature in case of 50% opening at its inlet. The equivalent stress becomes higher and fatigue life becomes lower than in case of 10% opening. In case of 100% opening at its inlet, the minimum temperature gets cool as 0.2 times as inlet temperature. The equivalent stress becomes lower and fatigue life becomes higher than in case of 50% opening. Maximum equivalent stress and total deformation are shown at the closing of EGR valve by the pressure of inflow gas. The structural analysis result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of EGR valve by investigating prevention and durability against its damage.

170[kV] GIB 내에서 건조공기(Dry Air)의 절연파괴 특성 (Breakdown Characteristics of Dry Air under 170[kV] GIB)

  • In this paper, we changed $SF_6$ insulation gases used already in the GIB(Gas Insulated Bus, gas insulated busbar) of switching appliances of power grid 170[kV] GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear, Gas Insulated Switchgear) with green insulation dry air gases and studied dielectric breakdown voltage characteristics by the AC voltage withstand test. Withstand test AC voltage applied to the standard KEPCO's 170[kV] GIB with dry air insulation and and the equivalent of dry air and $SF_6$ gas were examined. Breakdown voltage of dry air, using an expression of the experiments were calculated and AC Withstand criterion of dry air insulation for the AC voltage test was derived. Using the criterion, dry air gases can be used instead of the $SF_6$ gas was confirmed in the factory acceptance test at 170[kV] GIB.

  • Compressed natural gas has a high octane number and low particulate emission characteristics as compared with petroleum-based fuels, so it can respond to exhaust gas regulations positively. A natural gas engine has been introduced to improve the quality of the atmosphere, a diversity of fuel, a stable supply, and it has widely been used in city buses and garbage trucks. Recently, the natural gas engine has received attention by overcoming the disadvantage of the theoretical air-fuel ratio method through the development of EGR cooler and engine parts with the development of LP-EGR technology. In this study, we try to develop the cogeneration system that can simultaneously generate electric power and heat by remodeling the gasoline engine to the mixer type CNG engine. As a result, it was able to reduce the NOx (approximately 77%) compared to the diesel engines with same displacement.

전자제품 쿨링 유닛용 초소형 타입 복합재 압력용기 개발 (Development of Subminiature Type 3 Composite Pressure Vessel for Cooling Unit in Electric Appliances)

  • In this study, we have developed a composite pressure vessel that is compact and can store refrigerant at high pressure to increase the refrigerant volume. The composite pressure vessel is made of aluminum-based duralumin, which has high rigidity and excellent elongation in the inner liner, considering the characteristics of products in the aerospace and defense industry, where the safety of the applied product is considered as a priority. High strength carbon fiber was applied to the outside. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed product, burst test and cycling test were carried out. In burst test, an excellent safety margin equivalent to 2.7 times the operating pressure was obtained. In cycling test, a stable failure mode in which 'pre-burst leak' occurs is proved and the soundness of the product is proved.
