  • A all floating structures operating within a limited area require, stationkeeping to maintain the motions of the floating structure within permissible limits. In this study, methods for selecting and optimizing the mooring system Caisson for floating wind turbines in shallow water are investigated. The design of the mooring system is checked against the governing rules and standards. Adequately verifying the design of floating structures requires both numerical simulations and model testing, the combination of which is referred to as the hybrid method of design verification. The challenge in directly scaling moorings for model tests is the depth and spatial limitations of wave basins. It is therefore important to design and build equivalent mooring systems to ensure accurate static properties (global restoring forces and global stiffness).

  • In this paper, we describe the structural reinforcement approach of the throwing-type firefighter assistance robot which can be thrown into a fire site to monitor inside the place and search trapped people while ensuring a firefighter's safety. The reinforcement design is focused on high strength with low weight for the robot. The in-depth structural analysis of the platform is carried out to track down the weakest part, especially with the 1.8m height of drop test. The analysis is verified by comparing with the 1.8m height of the drop test of the throwing-type firefighter assistance robot. The optimal approach for improving the strength of the weakest part aims at topological equivalent and equivalently stress distributed shape.

  • The seal plays a role in preventing oil leakage when the lip and the rotating shaft come into contact with the fluid and air pressure. Recently, micro dimples or micro pockets are processed and used on the lubrication surfaces of thrust bearings, mechanical bearings, and piston rings. Compared to a smooth surface, micro dimples reduce friction and increase the life of parts. This paper analyzed various kinds of micro dimple shapes on the sealing surface, i.e. circle, rectangle, triangle, and trapezoid. For this purpose, Introduced the design of experiments to work out a micro dimple configuration, unlikely to be damaged from cracks and low in contact stress. As a result, the triangular dimple showed the best results. Optimal factors were dimple size 0.15 mm, dimple depth 0.0383 mm, dimple density 40%, and the maximum equivalent stress was 9.1455 MPa, and the maximum contact pressure was 9.6612 MPa. This paper analyzed the optimal shape of dimples by finite element analysis. As a research project, experiments and comparative analysis of micro dimple shapes are needed.

  • The increasing emission of greenhouse gases may change agricultural environment. The agronomic productivity will depend upon change of temperature, precipitation, solar radiation and fertilization. This study was conducted to investigate greenhouse gas emission with irrigation water depth in paddy field. Area of each experiment plot is $70m^2$, Three treatments with three replications were carried out in this experiment, which was laid out as randomized complete block design. The treatments of irrigation water were maximum field water capacity and 4 and 8 cm depth. The application rate of fresh rice straw was $8,000kg\;ha^{-1}$ in combination with chemical fertilizers ($110kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$, $45kg\;P_2O_5\;ha^{-1}$ and $57kg\;K_2O\;ha^{-1}$). The $CH_4$ emission was highest at 32 days after rice transplanting with rice straw treatment. The $CH_4$ emission in the plot of maximum field water capacity was lower compared with 4 and 8 cm of irrigation depth. $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ emission under different water depth in the paddy field were 30 and $1.52kg\;ha^{-1}$ at 8 cm depth, 281 and $1.71kg\;ha^{-1}$ at 4 cm depth, and 219 and $2.01kg\;ha^{-1}$ at water saturated condition. The total emission of greenhouse gases equivalent to $CO_2$ emission with rice straw application were $6,939kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at 8 cm depth plot, $6,431kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at 4 cm depth plot and $5,222kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at water saturated condition. The GWPs without rice straw application were $4,449kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at 8 cm depth plot, $3,702kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at 4 cm depth plot and $4,579kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ at water saturated condition.

  • Recently linear accelerator in radiation therapy in asymmetric field has been easily used since the improvement and capability of asymmetrical field adjustment attached to the machine. It has been thought there have been some significant errors in dose calculation when asymmetrical radiation fields have been utilized in practice of radiation treatments if the fundamental data for dose calculation have been measured in symmetrical standard fields. This study investigated how much the measured data of dose distributions and their isodose curves are different between in asymmetrical and symmetrical standard fields, and how much there difference affect the error in dose calculation in conventional method measured in symmetrical standard field. The distributions of radiation dose were measured by photon diode detector in the water phantom (RFA-300P, Scanditronix, Sweden) as tissue equivalent material on utilization of 6 MV linear accelerator with source surface distance (SSD) 1000 mm. The photon diode detector has the velocity of 1 mm per second from water surface to 250 mm depth in the field size of $40mm{\times}40mm\;to\;250mm{\times}250mm\;symmetric\;field\;and\;40mm{\times}20mm\;to\;250mm{\times}125mm$ asymmetrical fields. The measurements of percent depth dose (PDD) and subsequent plotting of their isodose curves were performed from water surface to 250mm dmm from Y-center axis in $100mm{\times}50mm$ field in order to absence the variability of depth dose according to increasing field sizes and their affects to plotted isodose curves. The difference of PDD between symmetric and asymmetric field was maximum $4.1\%\;decrease\;in\;40mm{\times}20mm\;field,\;maximum\;6.6\%\;decrease\;in\;100mm{\times}50mm\;and\;maximum\;10.2\%\;decrease\;200mm{\times}100mm$, the larger decrease difference of PDD as the greater field size and as greater the depth, The difference of PDD between asymmetrical field and equivalent square field showed maximum $2.4\%\;decrease\;in\;60mm{\times}30mm\;field,\;maximum\;4.8\%\;decrease\;in\;150mm{\times}75mm\;and\;maximum\;6.1\%\;decrease\;in\;250mm{\times}125mm$, and the larger decreased differenced PDD as the greater field size and as greater the depth, these differences of PDD were out of $5\%$ of dose calculation as defined by international Commission on radiation unit and Measurements(ICRU). In the dose distribution of asymmetrical field (half beam) the plotted isodose curves were observed to have deviations by decreased PDD as greater as the blocking of the beam moved closer to the central axis, and as the asymmetrical field increased by moving the block 10 mm keeping away from the central axis, the PDD increased and plotted isodose curves were gradually more flattened, due to reduced amount of the primary beam and the fraction of low energy soft radiations by passing thougepth in asymmetrical field by moving independent jaw each 10 h beam flattening filter. As asymmetrical radiation field as half beam radiation technique is used, the radiation dosimetry calculated in utilizing the fundamental data which measured in standard symmetrical field should be converted on bases of nearly measured data in asymmetrical field, measured beam data flies of various asymmetrical field in various energy and be necessary in each institution.

  • As radiation therapy is one of three major cancer treatment methods, many cancer patients get radiation therapy. To exposure as much radiation to cancer while normal tissues near tumor get little radiation, medical physicists make a radiotherapy plan treatment and perform quality assurance before patient treatment. Despite these efforts, unintended medical accidents can occur by some errors. In order to solve the problem, patient internal dose reconstruction methods by measuring transit dose are suggested. As feasibility study for development of patient dose verification system, inverse square law, percentage depth dose and scatter factor are used to calculate dose in the water-equivalent homogeneous phantom. As a calibration results of ionization chamber and glass dosimeter to transit radiation, signals of glass dosimeter are 0.824 times at 6 MV and 0.736 times at 10 MV compared to dose measured by ionization chamber. Average scatter factor is 1.4 and Mayneord F factor was used to apply percentage depth dose data. When we verified the algorithm using the water-equivalent homogeneous phantom, maximum error was 1.65%.

  • The final aim of this study was to propose guidelines for the indoor environment of apartment remodeling projects. The first task of this study was to understand the major elements and the actual condition of the remodeling for apartment unit by carrying out in-depth interviews on residents and specialists. The open-access interviews were conducted with interior designers who have a wide experience of apartment remodeling and residents who live in recently remodeled apartment units. The second task was to evaluate the actual condition of the indoor environment and to analyze the main factors that affect the indoor environment in remodeled apartment units. Field measurements were carried out in twenty apartment units occupied after remodeling, recording indoor environment elements (indoor temperature, globe temperature, relative humidity, $CO_2$, CO, PM10, TVOC, HCHO, illumination, and equivalent noise level). Moreover, resident interviews and researcher observations were carried out to determine the contents of the remodeled unit and to investigate the architectural and living factors(like ventilation characteristics, etc.) related to the indoor environment. The results are as follows. The remodeling elements generally included the changing of lighting fixtures and finishing materials in all the spaces, the integration of the balcony into the children's room, the installation of furniture in the kitchen and the entrance, the changing storage furnitures and equipments in the bathroom. The average levels of each unit of relative humidity, $CO_2$, TVOC, HCHO, equivalent noise level, and illumination were proved to be on the whole in inadequate condition. The factors that affect these indoor elements were classified as remodeling factors (remodeling amounts, extent balcony integration, and lighting fixture exchange), ventilation characteristics, and living factors. According to these results, this research proposed the guidelines for the indoor environment in apartment remodeling projects.

  • Objective: The main objectives of the present study were to assess the genetic diversity, population structure and to appraise the efficiency of ongoing selective breeding program in the closed nucleus herd of Nellore sheep through pedigree analysis. Methods: Information utilized in the study was collected from the pedigree records of Livestock Research Station, Palamaner during the period from 1989 to 2016. Genealogical parameters like generation interval, pedigree completeness, inbreeding level, average relatedness among the animals and genetic conservation index were estimated based on gene origin probabilities. Lambs born during 2012 and 2016 were considered as reference population. Two animal models either with the use of Fi or ΔFi as linear co-variables were evaluated to know the effects of inbreeding on the growth traits of Nellore sheep. Results: Average generation interval and realized effective population size for the reference cohort were estimated as 3.38±0.10 and 91.56±1.58, respectively and the average inbreeding coefficient for reference population was 3.32%. Similarly, the effective number of founders, ancestors and founder genome equivalent of the reference population were observed as 47, 37, and 22.48, respectively. Fifty per cent of the genetic variability was explained by 14 influential ancestors in the reference cohort. The ratio fe/fa obtained in the study was 1.21, which is an indicator of bottlenecks in the population. The number of equivalent generations obtained in the study was 4.23 and this estimate suggested the fair depth of the pedigree. Conclusion: Study suggested that the population had decent levels of genetic diversity and a non-significant influence of inbreeding coefficient on growth traits of Nellore lambs. However, small portion of genetic diversity was lost due to a disproportionate contribution of founders and bottlenecks. Hence, breeding strategies which improve the genetic gain, widens the selection process and with optimum levels of inbreeding are recommended for the herd.

  • An active capacitance circuit which employs series feedback network for the implement of negative resistance and low noise operation is analyzed in depth and its application to low noise active RF BPF's is discussed. Whereas many authors reported a lot of circuits that embody negative resistance circuit most of them have concerns for the equivalent resistance and reactance value at the center frequency. In this case, it could be possible to face a problem that the negative resistance circuit becomes unstable, or have poor flatness in passband because of insufficient forecast for the negative resistance values as the frequency goes higher or lower. In this paper, we extracted the exact equivalent values of this circuit and analyzed the RF characteristics with the varying the values of active devices and feedback circuits and presented the method that the flatness of passband can be improved. We have designed a 4-pole active BPF, which has the bandwidth of 60 ㎒, 0.67 ㏈ insertion loss, 0.3 ㏈ ripple, and noise figure of 3.0 ㏈ at 1.99 ㎓ band.

  • This study is performed to evaluate the carbonation resistance by measuring carbonation penetration depth and diffusion equivalent air layer thickness for 3 types of repair materials and 2 types of surface protection materials. Diffusion equivalent air layer thickness($S_D$) is thickness of a static air layer that possesses, under the same conditions, the same carbon dioxide permeability as the coating in accordance BS EN 1062-6. There is a significant advantage that continuous test is possible because it does not destroy the specimen. From experiment results, it is concluded that determination of carbon dioxide permeability is effective to evaluate for surface coating materials.
