  • To investigate relations between Grain-shape of plate and Dot-Gain in the lithography, Printing plates were made by Mechanical Grain, Brush Grain and Electrolytic Grain method.Fine multi-grain by electrolytic method of them resulted in less Dot-grain on the paper, more damping water on the none image part of printing plate.

  • In this study procedure for finding out additional viscous damping required to meet a performance target of an asymmetric nonlinear structure is developed based on the design concept of Pauly. The behavior of an asymmetric nonlinear structure after yielding is investigated. Finally the required amount of equivalent damping is obtained using the direct-displacement-based design method without carrying out time-consuming nonlinear dynamic time history analysis.

Comparative analysis of damping ratio determination methods based on dynamic triaxial tests

  • Various methods for determining the damping ratio have been proposed by scholars both domestically and abroad. However, no comparative analysis of different determination methods has been seen yet. In this study, typical sand (Fujian standard sand) and cohesive soils were selected as experimental objects, and undrained strain-controlled dynamic triaxial tests were conducted. The differences between existing damping ratio determination methods were theoretically compared and analyzed. The results showed that the hysteresis curve of cohesive soils had better symmetry and more closely conformed to the definition of equivalent linear viscoelasticity. For non-cohesive soils, the differences in damping ratio determined by six methods were significant. The differences decreased with increasing confining pressure and relative density, but increased gradually with increasing shear strain, especially at high shear strains, where the maximum relative error reached 200%. For cohesive soils, the differences in damping ratio determined by six methods were relatively small, with a maximum relative error of about 50%. Moreover, they were less affected by effective confining pressure and had the same changing trend under different effective confining pressures. The damping ratio determination method has a large effect on the seismic response of soils distributed by non-cohesive soils, with a maximum relative error of about 15% for the PGA and up to about 30% for the Sa. However, for soil layers distributed by cohesive soils, the damping ratio determination method has less influence on the seismic response. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt a unified damping ratio determination method for non-cohesive soils, which can effectively avoid artificial errors caused by different determination methods.

  • In June 2016, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan delivered countermeasures against long-period ground motions caused by strong earthquakes along the Nankai trough. However, the countermeasures do not cover high-rise buildings equal to or shorter than 60 m in height, which do not require earthquake response analyses in the seismic design. Hence, in the present study, earthquake response analyses for such high-rise reinforced concrete (RC) buildings were performed under artificial ground motions assumed in the OS1 and OS2 regions to determine the base shear coefficients that satisfy a given safety demand. Furthermore, the results from the earthquake response analyses were estimated by the authors' proposed method based on the equivalent linearization method, showing good agreement and inspiring suggestions for more accurate and simplified estimations.

Study for the Safety of Ships' Nonlinear Rolling Motion in Beam Seas

  • Vessels stability problems need to resolve the nonlinear mathematical models of rolling motion. For nonlinear systems subjected to random excitations, there are very few special cases can obtain the exact solutions. In this paper, the specific differential equations of rolling motion for intact ship considering the restoring and damping moment have researched firstly. Then the partial stochastic linearization method is applied to study the response statistics of nonlinear ship rolling motion in beam seas. The ship rolling nonlinear stochastic differential equation is then solved approximately by keeping the equivalent damping coefficient as a parameter and nonlinear response of the ship is determined in the frequency domain by a linear analysis method finally.

  • By high speed Liquid Droplet Impingement (LDI) on material, fluid systems are seriously damaged, therefore, it is important for the solution of the erosion problem of fluid systems to consider the effect of material in LDI. In this study, by using an in-house fluid/material two-way coupled method which considers reflection and transmission of pressure, stress and velocity on the fluid/material interface, high-speed LDI on wet/dry material surface is simulated. As a result, in the case of LDI on wet surface, maximum equivalent stress are less than those of dry surface due to damping effect of liquid film. Empirical formula of the damping effect function is formulated with the fluid factors of LDI, which are impingement velocity, droplet diameter and thickness of liquid film on material surface.

공력면 전개 모사를 위한 공력 모델링 연구 (A Study of Aerodynamic Modelling for Fin Unfolding Motion Analysis)

  • 접힌 공력면이 전개하는 운동을 모사하기 위하여 전개 운동 방정식을 수립하고 공력면에 작용하는 모멘트 등을 모델링하였다. 공력에 의한 롤 모멘트는 정적 롤 모멘트와 감쇠 모멘트로 이루어져 있으며 정적 롤 모멘트는 전개 하중 측정을 위한 풍동 시험을 통하여 획득한 정적 롤 모멘트 계수로부터 계산된다. 롤 감쇠 계수는 패널법을 이용한 수치 해석을 통하여 산출되었는데 전개 각속도로부터 유발된 받음각에 상응하는 변위각을 공력면에 적용하여 수치해석을 하였다. 공력면 형상에 적용한 변위각은 회전 중심으로부터 공력면 끝단까지 선형적으로 증가하며 회전 중심에서는 변위가 없다. 롤 감쇠 계수는 전개 각속도에 따른 롤 모멘트 계수의 변화율로 계산되며 공력조건과 전개각의 함수이고 전개 각속도에 대해서는 일정하다고 가정하였다. 롤 감쇠를 포함하여 모사된 공력면의 전개 모사는 시험과 비교하여 유사한 결과를 보여주었다.

공기포일베어링의 성능에 미치는 범프마찰효과 (Friction Effects on the Performance of Air Foil Bearings)

  • This paper presents the theoretical model and analysis results to investigate the effect of Coulomb damping in the sub-structure of a foil bearing. Vertical and horizontal deflection of a bump is restricted by friction of the bump. Equivalent viscous damping of the bump foil is derived from the Coulomb friction. Dynamic equation of the bump is constituted by stiffness and damping terms. The air film is modeled by the compressible Reynolds equation. A perturbation approach and finite difference numerical method is used to determine the static and dynamic performance of the bearing from the coupled fluid-structural model. The analysis result shows that the static and dynamic performance is enhanced by the bump friction.

  • 불규칙 해상에서의 선체의 횡동요운동을 해석하기 위하여 등가선형화방법을 사용 하였다. 일자 유도 선형 횡동요운동 모델에다가 2차의 비선형 감쇠항과 3차 및 5차의 비선형 복원 모멘트를 추가 하였으며 불규칙 기진 모멘트는 가우스 백색잡음으로 가정 하였다. 등가선형화 방법을 사용하여 예측한 응답의 통계적 특성을Simulation 결과와 비교 하였다.
