  • Fighter pilots are taking 'Advanced Pilot Training' courses to perform their missions perfectly even under adverse conditions. However, there are accidents that fall due to problems with the human body's equilibrium in the acceleration of flight, falling into the 'Vertigo, Spatial disorientation' phenomenon. As such, accidents that fighters fall due to spatial disorientation frequently occur not only in Korea but also abroad. In this study, we implemented the 'Vertigo' warning function in the fighter. First, we analyzed the aircraft's mission computer and the currently implemented warning functions. And we studied the coordinate system to utilize the aircraft attitude information. Based on this, we wanted to provide a visual warning to the HUD when the fighter flies over a certain time in the inverted flight position. Implementing this feature is expected to improve pilot flight safety. In addition, based on the results of this study, we propose a method to implement warning functions through linkage with other subsystems.

  • A passive sampler is one of the promising methods to easily and more accurately predict the free dissolved and bioavailable concentration ($C_{free}$) in seawater or pore water in sediments. In Europe and the United States, the use of passive samplers has been highly encouraged for more accurate marine environmental risk assessment. However, long deployment time in the field causes problems such as biofouling of the samplers, so there are few studies using passive samplers in Korea. Therefore, we review the principle and basic characteristics of the passive sampler for persistent organic pollutants, and introduce various improvement cases for the field applications of the passive sampler.

  • Boundary conditions for thermal-hydraulic problems of soils play an essential role in the numerical accuracy. This study presents a boundary condition considering the thermo-hydraulic interaction between the ground and the atmosphere. Ground surface energy balance consists of solar radiation, ground radiation, wind convection, latent heat from water evaporation, and heat conduction to the ground. Equations for each heat flux are presented, and numerical analyses are performed in conjunction with the FEM program for the thermal-hydraulic phenomenon of unsaturated soils. Numerical results using the weather data at the Ulsan Meteorological Observatory are similar to the measured surface temperature. Latent heat caused by water evaporation during the daytime lowers the surface temperature of the bare soil, and a thermal equilibrium is reached at nighttime when the effect of the ground condition is significantly reduced. The temperature change of the surface ground is diminished at the deeper ground due to its thermal diffusion. Numerical analysis where the surface ground temperature is the primary concern requires considering the thermo-hydraulic interaction between the ground and the atmosphere.

  • The Economic Gab-Jil, where the stronger are forcing the weaker to sacrifice, is not only a serious social problem, but also it exhausts the vitality of the national economy. Especially, the issue of 'cost reduction (CR) of delivery price' in automobile industry, and the issue of 'tolls' and 'retaliating' in the franchise business are becoming more controversial. This paper suggests some measures to rectify the problems by an analysis using a game-theoretic model. One of the ways to change the 'bad equilibrium', where economic Gab-Jil is prevalent, to the 'good equiblium' is to strengthen the bargaining power of the weak by legal and institutional measures. It is also a more market-friendly system that is self-enforcing, where the regulation is automatically enforced by the incentives of the participants, without relying solely on the enforcement power of regulatory or supervisory bodies

  • A general purpose of 4-node co-rotational resultant shell element is developed for the solution of nonlinear problems of reinforced concrete, steel and fiber-reinforced composite structures. The formulation of the geometrical stiffness presented here is defined on the mid-surface by using the second order kinematic relations and is efficient for analyzing thick plates and shells by incorporating bending moment and transverse shear resultant forces. The present element is free of shear locking behavior by using the ANS (Assumed Natural Strain) method such that the element performs very well as thin shells. Inelastic behaviour of concrete material is based on the plasticity with strain hardening and elasto-plastic fracture model. The plasticity of steel is based on Von-Mises Yield and Ivanov Yield criteria with strain hardening. The transverse shear stiffness of laminate composite is defined by an equilibrium approach instead of using the shear correction factor. The proposed formulation is computationally efficient and versitile for most civil engineering application and the test results showed good agreement.

  • As awareness of environmental pollution problems increases worldwide, interest in air pollutants is increasing. In particular, NOx and PM, which are major pollutants in diesel vehicles, are contributing significantly to emissions. As a result, its importance is increasing. In this study, based on research results applied to large diesel vehicles, the problem of natural regeneration caused by low exhaust gas temperature during low speed and low load operation is solved by applying a complex regeneration DPF that is not affected by temperature conditions to small diesel vehicles. The feasibility of application to small diesel vehicles was reviewed by measuring the emission reduction efficiency. As a result of the engine test, the power reduction rate and fuel consumption rate before and after device installation under full load conditions were 2.9% decrease and 3.5% increase, respectively, satisfying the standard for a 5% reduction, and as a result of the regeneration equilibrium temperature (BPT) test, the regeneration temperature was 310℃. appeared at the level. The reduction efficiency test results for the actual vehicle durability test equipment showed 97.3% PM, 51.0% CO, and 31.1% HC, while the city commuter vehicle had PM 97.5%, CO 61.7%, HC 40.0%, and the school bus vehicle had PM 96.8%, CO 44.4%, HC 34.3%, and low-speed logistics vehicles showed a reduction efficiency of 98.2% for PM, 36.0% for CO, and 45.7% for HC. Based on the results of this study, in the future, it is necessary to secure DPF technology suitable for all vehicle types through actual vehicle application research on temperature condition-insensitive composite regenerative DPF for medium-sized vehicles.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine middle school students' environmental worldviews, focusing on the following: 'Technocentric (TC)', 'Ecocentric (EC)', and 'Sustainable Development (SD)' environmental worldviews. The instrument surveying the worldviews of middle school students comprised two components: 'natural environment' and 'human action & environment'. The 'natural environment' component consisted of four categories. These were the value of humans in nature, the value of natural environments, nature reigned by humans, and the equilibrium sustaining power of environmental ecosystems. The 'human action & environment' component also consisted of four categories. These were the depletion of energy & resources, technology development, economic growth, and the severity of environmental problems. The subjects were 376 middle school students (152 males and 224 females), who were selected from 10 middle schools, and they answered question items by themselves through an online survey system. They displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' and 'Ecocentric environmental worldviews' than 'Technocentric environmental worldviews'. Furthermore, the female students displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' than the males. Hence, it is necessary to implement educational approaches that address and relate to the sustainable development environmental worldviews of middle school students.

  • As so many marketers get to use diverse sales promotion methods, manufacturer and retailer in a channel often use them too. In this context, diverse issues on sales promotion management arise. One of them is the issue of unplanned buying. Consumers' unplanned buying is clearly better off for the retailer but not for manufacturer. This asymmetric influence of unplanned buying should be dealt with prudently because of its possibility of provocation of channel conflict. However, there have been scarce studies on the sales promotion management strategy considering the unplanned buying and its asymmetric effect on retailer and manufacturer. In this paper, we try to find a better way for a manufacturer in a channel to promote performance through the retailer's sales promotion efforts when there is potential of unplanned buying effect. We investigate via game-theoretic modeling what is the optimal cost sharing level between the manufacturer and retailer when there is unplanned buying effect. We investigated following issues about the topic as follows: (1) What structure of cost sharing mechanism should the manufacturer and retailer in a channel choose when unplanned buying effect is strong (or weak)? (2) How much payoff could the manufacturer and retailer in a channel get when unplanned buying effect is strong (or weak)? We focus on the impact of unplanned buying effect on the optimal cost sharing mechanism for sales promotions between a manufacturer and a retailer in a same channel. So we consider two players in the game, a manufacturer and a retailer who are interacting in a same distribution channel. The model is of complete information game type. In the model, the manufacturer is the Stackelberg leader and the retailer is the follower. Variables in the model are as following table. Manufacturer's objective function in the basic game is as follows: ${\Pi}={\Pi}_1+{\Pi}_2$, where, ${\Pi}_1=w_1(1+L-p_1)-{\psi}^2$, ${\Pi}_2=w_2(1-{\epsilon}L-p_2)$. And retailer's is as follows: ${\pi}={\pi}_1+{\pi}_2$, where, ${\pi}_1=(p_1-w_1)(1+L-p_1)-L(L-{\psi})+p_u(b+L-p_u)$, ${\pi}_2=(p_2-w_2)(1-{\epsilon}L-p_2)$. The model is of four stages in two periods. Stages of the game are as follows. (Stage 1) Manufacturer sets wholesale price of the first period($w_1$) and cost sharing level of channel sales promotion(${\Psi}$). (Stage 2) Retailer sets retail price of the focal brand($p_1$), the unplanned buying item($p_u$), and sales promotion level(L). (Stage 3) Manufacturer sets wholesale price of the second period($w_2$). (Stage 4) Retailer sets retail price of the second period($p_2$). Since the model is a kind of dynamic games, we try to find a subgame perfect equilibrium to derive some theoretical and managerial implications. In order to obtain the subgame perfect equilibrium, we use the backward induction method. In using backward induction approach, we solve the problems backward from stage 4 to stage 1. By completely knowing follower's optimal reaction to the leader's potential actions, we can fold the game tree backward. Equilibrium of each variable in the basic game is as following table. We conducted more analysis of additional game about diverse cost level of manufacturer. Manufacturer's objective function in the additional game is same with that of the basic game as follows: ${\Pi}={\Pi}_1+{\Pi}_2$, where, ${\Pi}_1=w_1(1+L-p_1)-{\psi}^2$, ${\Pi}_2=w_2(1-{\epsilon}L-p_2)$. But retailer's objective function is different from that of the basic game as follows: ${\pi}={\pi}_1+{\pi}_2$, where, ${\pi}_1=(p_1-w_1)(1+L-p_1)-L(L-{\psi})+(p_u-c)(b+L-p_u)$, ${\pi}_2=(p_2-w_2)(1-{\epsilon}L-p_2)$. Equilibrium of each variable in this additional game is as following table. Major findings of the current study are as follows: (1) As the unplanned buying effect gets stronger, manufacturer and retailer had better increase the cost for sales promotion. (2) As the unplanned buying effect gets stronger, manufacturer had better decrease the cost sharing portion of total cost for sales promotion. (3) Manufacturer's profit is increasing function of the unplanned buying effect. (4) All results of (1),(2),(3) are alleviated by the increase of retailer's procurement cost to acquire unplanned buying items. The authors discuss the implications of those results for the marketers in manufacturers or retailers. The current study firstly suggests some managerial implications for the manufacturer how to share the sales promotion cost with the retailer in a channel to the high or low level of the consumers' unplanned buying potential.

  • Game theory is mathematical analysis developed to study involved in making decisions. In 1928, Von Neumann proved that every two-person, zero-sum game with finitely many pure strategies for each player is deterministic. As well, in the early 50's, Nash presented another concept as the basis for a generalization of Von Neumann's theorem. Another central achievement of game theory is the introduction of evolutionary game theory, by which agents can play optimal strategies in the absence of rationality. Not the rationality but through the process of Darwinian selection, a population of agents can evolve to an Evolutionary Stable Strategy (ESS) introduced by Maynard Smith. Keeping pace with these game theoretical studies, the first computer simulation of co-evolution was tried out by Hillis in 1991. Moreover, Kauffman proposed NK model to analyze co-evolutionary dynamics between different species. He showed how co-evolutionary phenomenon reaches static states and that these states are Nash equilibrium or ESS introduced in game theory. Since the studies about co-evolutionary phenomenon were started, however many other researchers have developed co-evolutionary algorithms, in this paper we propose Game theory based Co-Evolutionary Algorithm (GCEA) and confirm that this algorithm can be a solution of evolutionary problems by searching the ESS.To evaluate newly designed GCEA approach, we solve several test Multi-objective Optimization Problems (MOPs). From the results of these evaluations, we confirm that evolutionary game can be embodied by co-evolutionary algorithm and analyze optimization performance of GCEA by comparing experimental results using GCEA with the results using other evolutionary optimization algorithms.

  • This paper stresses the role of market fundamentals rather than bubbles in explaining Korea's recent experience of large fluctuations of stock and real estate prices. The bubble story that emphasizes the self-fulfilling prophecies of investors seems to be inappropriate to explain the recent changes of assets prices in Korea. Those who argue for bubble phenomenon in Korea tend to interpret the volatile movements of assets prices as some form of bubbles, but without implementing a rigorous test on the presence of bubbles. Even when some bubble tests are carried out, such studies exhibit various econometric problems in testing. More seriously, they suffer from the misspecification problems in setting up a market model. This paper has shown that Korea's recent changes in assets prices could be explained by changes in market fundamentals according to the emergence and the subsequent fading of 'three lows'. First, it tried to explain changes in assets prices by changes in such market fundamentals as real interest rates and economic growth. Second, it showed that the real estate prices overshoot when the liquidity and exchange rates change, using the two-sector general equilibrium portfolio balance model. It is argued that the rapid rise in real estate prices during 1986-89 stems from Yen's and Won's appreciation $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the U.S. dollar and liquidity expansion (or decreases in real interest rates), while the downturn in real estate prices since 1990 is associated with Yen's and Won's depreciation $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the U.S. dollar and rises in real interest rates in reflection of the excess demand for liquidity.
