  • In this study, the relationship between the environmental radiation dose rate and meteorological variables was investigated with multiple regression analysis and big data of those variables. The environmental radiation dose rate and 36 different meteorological variables were measured on Ulleung Island, Republic of Korea, from 2011 to 2015. Not all meteorological variables were used in the regression analysis because the different meteorological variables significantly affect the environmental radiation dose rate during different periods, and the degree of influence changes with time. By applying the Pearson correlation analysis and stepwise selection methods to the big dataset, the major meteorological variables influencing the environmental radiation dose rate were identified, which were then used as the independent variables for the regression model. Subsequently, multiple regression models for the monthly datasets and dataset of the entire period were developed.

  • In this study, after establishing assessment framework and reviewing the conceptual evolution and component of EL(Environmental Literacy) through literature review, through middle school students as population, the level of EL and relationship of its related variables were examined. The investigation was consisted of second and third grades of urban and rural middle schools in Choongbook. The used measurement methods were objective evaluation and Likert-type scale. The questionnaire instrument variables were consisted of 80 items on environmental literacy variables and six items on student gender, area of residence, environmental lesson, degree of environmental concern, environmental information, environmental activity as background variables. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Although the broad and obscure concept of EL has been evolved until 1992, it has been developed more systematic and precise after 1992. But there is not still an agreed concept. 2. The subordinate components of EL were consisted of cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. Both ecological knowledge(KEOC) and environmental skill(SKILL) were determined to serve as two powerful predictors of EL. 3. The level of EL of middle school student was showed statistically significant difference to some variables by student gender, residential area, environmental lesson, environmental concern, environmental information, and environmental activity variables. And the most influential variables of EL in middle school student were environmental skill(SKILL), and locus of control (LOC). Based on the findings of this study, the following suggestions are drawn: It should be established a precise concept on EL as the ultimate aim of environmental education both interdisciplinary cooperation and experts of environmental education and also performed further longitudinal study which assessed multidimensional variables which are able to exactly measure the EL of middle school student.

  • Purpose: This study was done using meta-analysis to examine 58 studies from studies published in the past eight years (2000 to 2007) that included variables related to adolescents' suicidal ideation. Methods: The materials for this study were based on 32 variables which were selected from masters' thesis, doctoral dissertation and articles from Journals of the Korean Academy of Nursing. Results: The classification consisted of 5 variables groups and 32 variables. In terms of effect size on risk, variables which were significant included psychological variables (0.668), socio-cultural variables (0.511), family environmental variables (0.405), school environmental variables (0.221), and personal characteristics variables (0.147). In terms of effect size on protection, variables which were significant included personal characteristics variables (-1.107), psychological variables (-0.526), family environmental variables (-0.264), and school environmental variables (-0.155). In terms of effect size on risk variables, psychological variables (0.668) were highest. In terms of effect size on protective variables, the variable of personal characteristic (-1.107) was the highest. Conclusion: While the results indicate possible risk and protective variables for suicidal ideation, but prediction is still difficult. Further study to compare adolescents with similar variables but no suicidal ideation and those with suicidal ideation is necessary.

  • Purpose: Despite the numerous studies on factors impacting pro-environmental behavior, actual studies analyzing a relationship between pro-environmental behavior and eco-friendly channels (e.g., local food market and farmers' market channel) usage behavior (visit and purchasing frequency) are rare. This study investigated the relationship between consumers with positive pro-environmental behavior and eco-friendly channels usage behavior. Research design, data and methodology: The study investigated the relationship between pro-environmental behavior and eco-friendly channels (local food markets and farmers market) visit behavior by analyzing data from the Korea Consumer Agency's 2021 Korea Consumption Life Index, with a focus on the pro-environmental index. Relationship between pro-environmental behavior and whether eco-friendly channels visit or not were analyzed. Demographic variables also influence eco-friendly oriented channels visit. Data analysis used hierarchical regression, firstly inputted pro-environmental behavior, and then demographic variables inputted, and finally pro-environmental behavior and demographics interactions as moderating variables inputted. Results: Consumer's with positive behavior towards pro-environment were indeed more likely to choose local food market and farmers' market compared to other consumers. Demographic variables also effect local food market visit. Some demographic variables moderate this relationship. The results, however, differed by channel type. Conclusions: Pro-environmental behavior is closely related to eco-friendly channels (local food market and farmers; market) visit.

Especially this study investigated causal relationships among the variables which are supposed to affect children's verbal ability. The subjects of this study were 60 children at age five and their mothers. Instruments included inventory of home stimulation(HOME) inventory of socio-demographic variables inventory of the children's verbal ability and intelligence test. The results obtained from study were as follows: 1. For the most part environmental variables had a significant positive correlation with children's verbal ability 2. The variables that significantly predicted boy's verbal ability were aspects of physical environment breadth of experienc. And the variables that significantly predicted girls' verbal ability were developmental stimulation economic status of the home. 3. The results of the analysis of the causal model showed that the kind of variables that affected boy's verbal ability directly were indirect stimulation direct stimulation. And the kind of variables that affected girls' verbal ability directly were direct stimulation econmic status of the home inditect stimulation. 4. Another causal model of the environmental variables affecting children's verbal ability were formulated by exogenous variables(socio-demographic variables) and by endogenous variables (HOME, children's intelligence). The results of the analysis of the causal model showed that only HOME variables significantly affected boy's and girls' verbal ability directly.
