The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of school lunch program managers' disposal of food waste and food service management in elementary school lunch program. Questionaries were distributed to 243 school lunch program managers of elementary schools in Seoul and Incheon area. The statistical analysis of data was completed using SPSS program. The results were summarized as follows. The average score of school lunch program managers' environmental conservation consciousness was slightly high, which was found to be 4.0. Most food waste was mainly vegetables. The primary recycling methods of leftovers from the school food service operations were to using them as livestock feed(84.7%). The best way of food waste treatment recognized by school lunch program managers' was utilizing it as fodder for animals or fertilizer(54.1%). The average score that school lunch program managers' achieved in terms of food nice management considering environmental conservation was 3.8. The school lunch managers' opinions imposing environmental regulation on the corresponding firm was very strict. Based on the observed results, several recommendations are suggested:practical food management guideline and its related proper information, foodbank program.
This study analyzed the relationships among perceptions of uncertainty, environmental characteristics and strategy maker\`s actual decision such as resource allocation in different organizational subunits by focusing on the hotel general managers in two different countries Korea and Japan. The results show that managerial perceptions of the environment would vary across organizations within an industry but it was surprising to fad that managerial perceptions did not vary more substantially across countries. General managers in both countries perceived government regulator\`s actions to be the most uncertain environmental factor. Hotels in Japan were more geared toward external effectiveness than were hotels in Korea. The findings of this study also suggest that when the organization faces high environmental uncertainty, it places greater emphasis on extemally oriented functions such as market research and product development.
The goal of this study was to investigate the distribution chart of management and satisfaction through Hanwoo education program and to provide fundamental data and development conformity available on the management and educational program to managers. In this study, we chose 75 managers taking part in Hanwoo education program as pre-test and applied satisfaction for education program to 33 managers randomly selected as post-test. The results of this study are as follows: First, age and academic career had a significant (P<0.05) effect on breeding size, breeding career, sales, and management methods. This may be due to the fact that managers in Hanwoo industry tended to raise academic standards and the age group moved towards young age rather than middle and old ages. However, an academic career was unaffected by sale and management methods. Second, managers who randomly selected the education program showed higher satisfaction about the program and lower or usual interest and intention in the educational environment, incidental facilities, and reviews. In conclusion, to equip the constituent parts of education program with entire propriety and an effective running system, information on breeding size and breeding career for managers in Hanwoo Industry with respect to age and academic career had to be clearly premeditated. It also needed the educational program to look at it from the standpoint of the managers.
Objectives: In chemical hazard communication, information receiver's perception is a important factor, but the study on the perception was few. Therefore, this study evaluated the perception of managers and workers group about chemical hazard communication by chemical hazard communication tools that were being used in fields. Methods: 91 managers and 238 workers were surveyed in two companies where use chemicals. All subjects were asked about the comprehensibility and perception for MSDS and GHS Pictograms being used in their workplaces through face-to-face interviews. Results: Most of the respondents knew MSDS, and more than half of the respondents had used MSDS once or more per year. The level of use to find the information on chemicals with MSDS was higher in the managers in comparison with workers. Also, the managers could understand and find the information on MSDS easier(p < 0.05). In the question asking the meaning of GHS Pictograms, the managers responded more correctly, as well(p < 0.05). 86.8% of the managers and 62.6% of the workers were conscious of the possible health hazards of chemicals that they could be exposed at work. However, among the respondents conscious of the health hazards, only less than 70% were well aware of the contents of the health hazards correctly. Conclusions: In chemical hazard communication, it is very important to evaluate whether information receiver have proper and correct knowledge and perception or not and actions based on the evaluations as well as provide correct information.
Objectives: Poisonous substances experts engage in policymaking regarding poisonous substances, whereas poisonous substances managers perform legal duties related to poisonous substances management systems at worksites. To understand and improve poisonous substances designation systems, it is necessary to distinguish the roles of these experts and managers. We further aimed to identify problems with poisonous substances appointment systems and provide basic data for their improvement by investigating the knowledge and recognition of the need for system improvement among managers and experts. Methods: To determine the $subjects^{\circ}{\emptyset}$ awareness of poisonous substances designation systems, a selfadministered questionnaire comprised of items on general characteristics and knowledge and recognition of the need for system improvement was issued. Data were analyzed via t-tests and ANOVA using SPSS v 16.0 Results: Regarding system comprehension, managers (n=213; mean 3.28, SD 0.63) significantly differed from experts (n=35; mean 4.08, SD 0.59) (P<0.001). No differences were found in recognition of need for improvement between managers (mean 3.11, SD 0.34) and experts (mean 3.24, SD 0.31). Significant differences in comprehension were found among managers by education level (P<0.05) and company size (P<0.05). Regarding industry type, comprehension was greater in the electrical/electronic and chemical/environmental industries compared to in other industries (P = 0.066). Comprehension was higher among those with five years or more of experience compared to those with less than five years. Regarding recognition of need for improvement, managers showed significant differences by company size (P<0.05). $Experts^{\circ}{\emptyset}$ comprehension showed no differences by general characteristics, while need for improvement differed according to work experience (P<0.001). Conclusion: The study found that the bigger the company size, the higher the level of comprehension by managers and the experts. In the case of both groups, where a higher comprehension of the poisonous substances designation system was evident, they recognized the necessity of its improvement.

This paper presents an innovative way of integrating scheduling and project controls with the environmental impact of a construction project to track, monitor, and manage environmental emissions at the activity level. As a starting point, scheduling and project controls help monitor the status of a project to provide an assessment of the duration and sequence of activities. Additionally, project schedules can also reflect resource allocation and costs associated with various phases of a construction project. Owners, contractors and construction managers closely monitor tasks or activities on the critical path(s) and/or longest path(s) calculated through network based scheduling techniques. However, existing industry practices do not take into account environmental impact associated with each activity during the life cycle of a project. Although the environmental impact of a project may be tracked in various ways, that tracking is not tied to the project schedule and, as such, generally is not updated when schedules are revised. In this research, a Cradle to Gate approach is used to estimate environmental emissions associated with each activity of a sample project schedule. The research group has also investigated the potential determination of scenarios of lowest environmental emissions, just as project managers currently determine scenarios with lowest cost or time. This methodology can be scaled up for future work to develop a library of unit emissions associated with commonly used construction materials and equipment. This will be helpful for project owners, contractors, and construction managers to monitor, manage, and reduce the carbon footprint associated with various projects.
Objectives: This study aimed to provide basic data for the improvement of the guidance services for the management of the workplace environment of the specialized health management institution, by making inquiries on the perception and extent of practice by health managers and workers in the workplace. Methods: Workplaces with officially noted environmental hazards of noise, organic compounds and/or dust-metals were selected in a South Korean metropolitan city in 2015. The workplace health managers(hereinafter referred to as 'manager') and workers at 97 workplace were interviewed. Managers are those who are in charge of health management at the corresponding workplace and the workers were subjected to in-depth interviews by sampling one worker for each of the workplace. Results: The majority of the managers acknowledged the guidance services of the specialized health management institution affirmatively. Regarding the extent of practice in accordance with the guidance on engineering improvement, only 23 managers(37.1%) responded. With respect to education, 40 managers(41.2%) responded that it was implemented along with 35 workers(36.1%) who responded that they received education, showing no significant difference between manager and worker. Regarding the actual wearing of the protective equipment, however, 83 of the manager(85.6%) insisted that workers wore the protective devices while only 44 workers(49.5%) responded that they actually wore the devices, thereby illustrating a significant difference between managers and workers. Conclusions: These results suggest the urgent necessity of improvement in the mechanism of guidance services of the specialized health management institution for the workplace environment management.
The environmental quality in Korea was significantly deteriorated though the past economic development period. Even though the government has spent huge sum of resources on the policies and projects to improve the environmental quality, it is much removed from what the people hope for. To solve the environmental problems effectively, pollutants generated at source should be kept as minimum as possible, and possible, and pollutants from source be controlled before leaving the sources, and most of all, environmental strategies and systems be established and enforced properly. So, it is not too much to say that nation's environmental quality is entirely dependent on the education and training of the environmental managers such as environmental employees for air, water, and noise discharge facilities, technicians at environmental plants, and environmental officers of central and local governments. Regimes for the improvement of the education and training for environmental managers are suggested into four categories-educational institute, circular of the study, training contents and trainees. Referring to the improvement of integrated institute, and to improvement on educational institute, it is necessary to investigate the feasibility of integrated institute, and to recommend the inclusion of the local colleges and universities, and environmental societies. For the improvement on training courses, it is necessary that the non-obligatory course be expanded, and the courses be developed in such a way to meet the needs from the field. As for the improvement on training contents. It is suggested that the practical training on size be strengthened, and also full time environmental specialist and integrated committee be required to develop the effective circular and selection of proper lectures. Finally, environmental education for high ranked officers of autonomies, and international courses for developing countries are suggested.
This study examined the recognition differences between local residents and national park managers on the adjustment of national parks which are conducted every ten years for the purpose of providing basic information for the park management, according to the Natural Parks Act. Both local residents and national park managers positively perceived the adjustment of national parks, but park managers showed concern towards the damage of natural resources resulting from the cancellation and adjustment of restricted development districts in Korean national parks. Local residents are more likely than park managers to recommend boundary adjustment in other national parks regarding the influence of parks adjustment on local change. While local residents recognized that the boundary adjustment of national parks improves the level of community management, park managers focused on damages on the local environment and the park landscape adjacent to the areas. The result shows the recognition differences of local residents and park managers. Further research into adjustment of national parks is necessary to diminish perception gaps among stakeholders and develop prediction indicators of cancellation effect in response to the future cancellation areas of national parks through the characteristics of cancellation communities, revitalization of local economy, and environmental change of local community.
This survey is related to the status of education for environmental managers, who are taking charge of pollution control untilities, and its analyses. This survey is also discussing the improvements of educational course for the trainees, who have already been educated in environmental background as well as its problems. The 45% of in-service trainees were those who had graduated more than a junior college. But under the 50% of them were those who had school careers of less than a high a high school, which means that the trainees have trouble in acquiring the professional knowledges on environmental educations such as the lectures and the practice educations. All over the country, 46 junior colleges, and 65 universities which have a environmental education program, have produced the graduates who major in the environment. Therefore, it is demanded that they should be properly treated. In this research work, it is shown that the 76% of environmental managers have no certificate of environmental study. It is thought that this has resulted from the released environmental law; the untilities of the first and second grade need a manager with a certificate related with environment, the third grade utilities only need a manager with a non-specified certificate related with environment or a manager with more than 3 years environmental practice careers, the fourth and fifth grade utilities do not need the certificate related to environment. In view of relation between environment pollutions and the management of environmental utilities, it is thought that present environmental laws should be improved to be strict. The fact that the differences in regions or utilities are not considered in the contents of texts, has reduced the efficiency of education. Therefore, it is needed that the experts and the in-service managers should take part in the development of the text. In this survey, the more than 20% of trainees have negative opinions about the result of this education, which means that overall the environmental practice education should be reconsidered. In the educational methodology, more than 50% of trainees have the opinion that they want spot speciations, the audio-visual educations and the practice. Therefore, it is demaned that the subjects, syllabus, and the allotment of time ect, should be reorganized for the more practical education.
