  • National efforts responding to climate change is directly connected to competitiveness of the urban environment. Practice in the daily life of the individual citizens is prerequisite for the paradigm shift that can be made by the reduction of the city's energy consumption and low-carbon green growth. Therefore, the comprehensive understanding combined with the educational programs is required on the issue of the ecological environment and the urban environment competitiveness. In this paper, the meaning and role of urban ecological environment will be researched first. it also takes a look at the content of curriculum and analyses domestic policies related to environmental education of primary and middle schools. In addition, video documentary on urban ecological environment will be analyzed for the development of educational media dealing with environmental training in schools. Consequently, urban ecological environment shown in video media content will be identified and the advantage of this possibility as a medium of education is to be proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how the contents of education for sustainable development are reflected in the middle school environment curriculum revised in 2007, and to propose how to integrate content for improving sustainable development education. For this, I analyzed the 2007 Revised Environment Curriculum for Middle Schools by using social network analysis which is the useful methodology to understand the relations of contents. Social Network analysis is a useful tool to excavate the forms of structure or relationship and to explain the characteristics of the system that arise through relationships or to explain the units composing the system. When sustainable development education was examined from 3 points of view, it included environmental sustainability, economical sustainability, and social sustainability. I used the 2007 Revised Environment Curriculum for Middle Schools and manual of curriculum for analysis. The results are 1) The biodiversity conservation and energy efficiency have taken most important positions. 2) In case of economical sustainability pillar, sustainable production had been emphasized. 3) In the case of the social sustainability pillar, health improvement are considered significant. 4) The efforts of trying to approach sustainable development education as an integrated curriculum is week. Integrated themes based on the results were developed. Five main themes were the energy and climate change, water resource and environmental pollution, sustainable village and sustainable food production, sustainable city and sustainable production, sustainable tourism and biodiversity. I hope these could function as theme of integrated-content. Based on the results of study, I propose joint researches on scope of sustainable development for environmental education.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out what impact climate action has on study participants and why climate action education is difficult in high schools. For this purpose, a basic qualitative research method was selected, and the study participants were five middle school students at the time of the activity. The results of this study are as follows. Due to the climate action in middle school, the participants' career path changed specifically and their climate literacy was cultivated. And climate action education in high schools was not enough. Environmental subjects that provide climate action education were difficult to open because they were not chosen by many students, and it was unrealistic to provide climate action education during creative experiential activities due to the burden of college entrance exams. The discussion points of this study are as follows. Climate action needs to be encouraged among middle school students because it helps shape career paths and cultivate climate literacy. Additionally, because sustainability is important in climate action, there is a need to establish specialized courses in climate action education in the curriculum of elementary, middle, and high schools so that climate literacy can be maintained consistently.

Seven hundred and twenty-eight responses from the five schools were analyzed (seventy-two were excluded). A self-administered questionnaire measuring sociodemographic variables, Knowledge of environment related disease(atopic dermatitis, asthma etc), as well as educational experience and necessity of environmental health education was analyzed. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS-PC Program 12.0 and the following results by implementing Frequency Analysis, Cross-tabulation Analysis and ANOVA are as follows. Result: Pupils of lower grades more informed than those of higher grades about atopic dermatitis. Among asthma sufferers, many responded that symptoms occurred or improved during the lower grades of elementary school. In terms of the lifestyles of patients with atopic dermatitis or asthma, female pupils, especially those in the lower grades, tended to make changes in their daily habits based on their disease. • The Ministry of Environment supports environmental education mainly in two ways ; one is by supporting schools engaged in environment conservation model school and the other is by extending grants for experiential environmental education programs. This research aims to evaluate the current status of grant for experiential environmental education programs while proposing possible improvement for constructive and continuing development of the support measures. Grant for experiential environmental education programs is divided into two areas of grant for schools and grant for community-based civil organizations. • Scientific literacy for all became a new goal and introducing STS issues into science curriculum shows new trends in science education. The educational importance of natural environment of a region is increasing because it can serve as a vehicle to meet the new goal and trends of science education. The opportunity to learn about Korean natural environment in schools was investigated. The characteristics and unique patterns of Korean natural environment are not well reflected in the intended curriculum. School teachers mostly believe that education of Korean natural environment will greatly contribute to the students' learning of the subject matter they teach and environmental problems. However, they have limited opportunity to teach Korean natural environment. Various elective courses dealing with our natural environment should be provided in schools, especially for non-science majors. Out-of-school activities and facilities for Korean natural environment should be made available.
