  • The purpose of this study was to investigate orientation toward teaching of science teachers had shown in lesson on Law of Definite Composition for middle school students and the factors which influenced its formation. To achieve this, we collected survey materials by recording and analyzing lessons of 8 teachers, interviewing them, and using CoRe questionnaire. From teachers' activities in lessons, we found their orientation toward science teaching, and through analyzing collected materials, drew the factors which influenced the formation of orientation toward science teaching. The result identified two types of orientation toward science teaching: activity-directional and lecture-directional. The former, activity-directional was categorized further as exploration and non-exploration; the latter as interaction-centered and content delivery. The main factors which affected the formation of orientation toward science teaching were reflective thinking through teaching experiences, interaction with colleagues, consideration on education environment, training as a learner, and their own interest and curiosity. Among them, the reflective thinking through teaching experiences was strongest cause, and teacher's interest and curiosity was even limited, also influenced positively. On the other hand, unlikely other factors, consideration on education setting affected negatively to build teacher's teaching orientation. Interaction with colleagues, training for teachers by universities and graduated schools acted on a bit, but had a limit just for mainly developing science content knowledge.

  • This research evaluated Information Application Mechanism based on university student's preference. In other words, the research content is analyzing what is the most effective learning method for lectures. To obtain this research objective I've done some research in theoretical research and pervious research related to informational mechanism. I also analyzed the degree of understanding in learning-efficiency with students based on lectures using various information mechanisms. For the data gathering I've surveyed 82 students living in Busan, and used the survey sheets to gather data, I made the survey sheet with nominal and interval parts to make the analyzement of data easier. The research result is down below. First, It shows that the students with higher understanding in IT preferred lectures with "PPT"s. Second, The "PPT" preference group thought that the "PPT" teaching method is more effective than other methods. Third, The "WRT" preference group thought that the "WRT" teaching method is more effective than other methods. Forth, Both groups gave each method a 3.08 and 2.95 as a total mean value out on a 1-5 scale showing not much difference. However this research has a research limitation like other researches. In other words, there can be some distortion of information when using the interview method to gather data. The researches from now on will need to organize groups by information mechanisms and research the learning-efficiency with each mechanism.

  • This study analyzed subjectivity of underachievers on Peer Assisted Learning(PAS) in culinary skills related subject for providing better educational environment through consideration of educational efficiency of particular teaching method. Q Methodology was employed for analysing of responses of a small group of the students. The research found that three types of distinctive structures of responses of the students' subjectivity. The first one was Increase learning effectiveness type(Type1, N=8), the second one was Development of lesson materials for passive students(Type2, N=8), and the last one was Practical self-directed learning needs development(Type3, N=6). From the result, PAS was an effective teaching method for underachievers for encouraging participation of study program, helping to rise self-confidence in subject's tasks, and awareness of self directed learning and additional study on subjects matters. The study, however, found that students could consider themselves as an interruption to other students' study progress, and could feel other students' awareness as a burden. At last, forming a class by deeper consideration on the learning levels of each students and providing additional educational contents for encouraging self directed learning are necessary for the better efficiency for the future.

  • Teachers are not completed by appointment, but gradually made through self-development and training for a long time. In order to improve a sense of responsibility of home economics teachers, and also to suggest the purpose and direction of program through job training, the needs of training subjects should be preferentially understood. Thus, this study aims to provide basic data for establishing the developmental operation measures of training for home economics teachers, by researching the needs for training performed after the qualification training for first-grade teachers, targeting the teachers participating in the qualification training program for first-grade teachers of home economics in 2017. About the half of the research subjects received the home economics training one time or less for last three years. Through the training for first-grade teachers, the technical improvement of lesson instruction was demanded the most. As professional qualifications that should be cultivated through training, the ability to develop teaching methods and teaching/learning materials was the highest. Regarding the theme of training, the development of teaching/learning materials for home economics was desired the most. They wanted the training method including direct participation with high utilization for lesson, sublation of competition-centered evaluation, preference of instructors with field experience, continuous opportunity of home economics training, and communicative training. Regarding the needs for the 2015 revised curriculum, the demand for the training of 'human development and family' area was the highest. Therefore, in order to improve the professionalism of teachers through home economics training, it would be necessary to improve the educational environment such as temporal room for training and administrative support, and also to provide diverse types of training like group training, remote training, and smartphone app training suitable for changes in the generation of teachers. Also, on top of forming communities of home economics teachers, and sharing great contents of training, there should be individually-customized training for practice and sharing lesson cases.

  • The purpose of this study was to raise the awareness of LOHAS(Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) in the secondary school students. We extracted the related contents to LOHAS from the unit of 'The choice and maintenance of clothing' in the second-year's textbook of Technology-Home Economics, and selected the learning subjects. We also developed the new teaching-learning process plan on practical problem focused lesson, and applied them to the eight classes located in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, for 5 hours per each class. The learning subjects of the teaching-learning process plan included five items as followings; general awareness, organic fashion, natural fabric, recycled material fashion, and natural dyeing, which were related to LOHAS consumption. The overall topic of the teaching-learning process plan was 'What should do to raise the awareness of LOHAS in order to practice LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing'. Consequently, the results were abtained as follow; The general awareness of LOHAS as well as the awareness of LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing increased after classes significantly, compared to those before. Thirty-four materials including worksheets, reading materials and teacher's guide could help to raise the awareness of LOHAS. Also these classes enabled the students to raise their awareness of LOHAS, to improve their opinions and attitudes on LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing, and to take an interest in the lesson of Home-Economics. This study might have the educational significance in that it made the students directly participate in the national and social trend of the awareness of LOHAS, and upgrade their quality as good LOHAS consumers. Also further teaching-learning process plan in Home-Economics are necessary to promote the awareness of LOHAS for better health, environment, and society.

  • Background: An important lesson learned from the Fukushima accident is that the transition to the mid- and long-term phases from the emergency-response phase requires less than a year, which is not very long. It is necessary to know how much radioactive material has been deposited in an urban area to establish mid- and long-term countermeasures after a radioactive accident. Therefore, an urban deposition model that can indicate the site-specific characteristics must be developed. Materials and Methods: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocity and the subsequent variation in radionuclide contamination were estimated based on the characteristics of the Korean urban environment. Furthermore, the application of the obtained generalized deposition velocity in a hypothetical scenario was investigated. Results and Discussion: The generalized deposition velocities of 137Cs, 106Ru, and 131I for each residence type were obtained using three-dimensional (3D) modeling. For all residence types, the deposition velocities of 131I are greater than those of 106Ru and 137Cs. In addition, we calculated the generalized deposition velocities for each residential types. Iodine was the most deposited nuclide during initial deposition. However, the concentration of iodine in urban environment drastically decreases owing to its relatively shorter half-life than 106Ru and 137Cs. Furthermore, the amount of radioactive material deposited in nonresidential areas, especially in parks and schools, is more than that deposited in residential areas. Conclusion: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocities and the subsequent deposition changes were estimated for the Korean urban environment. The 3D modeling was performed for each type of urban residential area, and the average deposition velocity was obtained and applied to a hypothetical accident. Based on the estimated deposition velocities, the decision-making systems can be improved for responding to radioactive contamination in urban areas. Furthermore, this study can be useful to predict the radiological dose in case of large-scale urban contamination and can support decision-making for long-term measurement after nuclear accident.

  • General education is changed by accepting the change in education environment to digital generation, emphasis about student-centered education, and change of teacher's role. E-learning has taken center stage as an effective learning environment but the problems are drawn for the absence of interaction that is important in learning. In this study, on the basis of questionnaire results about learning using website, we operated blended-learning where students come and go in cyberspace and physical space to set up the lesson environment for emphasizing interaction. We selected a control group (N=40) and an experimental group (N=40) from second grade students in a middle school for this research. General instructor-led lessons were implemented in the control group and blended-learning lessons to emphasize interaction between teacher and students were implemented in the experimental group. The experiments were applied to eight class-hours in 'characteristics of matter' unit. We implemented Test of Science Related Attitude (TOSRA) to the students before and after the lessons and administered questionnaire for checking attitude changes and perception in students. The results of the test show that the experimental group students were more encouraged and became more confident and curious about scientific learning than the control group students. The analysis of the interview and results of TOSRA show that blended-learning provided guidance and feedback by the teacher to the experimental group students more than the control group students. Blended-learning is suggested as a learning-method that is helpful in improving scientific attitude in students because it enables them to express their experiences without limit of time-space and promote interaction between teacher and students.

  • This is a study of strengthening the practice of environmental education in the primary and secondary school music program. Since the world war II, the environmental situation has been getting worse and worse. So it is now a global issue to conserve energy and solving the ecological problems we are confronting. Solving the environmental problem is not just a scientist's task nor a specific school education subject's either, but a responsibility of all human beings. In this sense, it is necessary for every school subject, including music, should include elements of environmental education in its education contents. in this paper the researcher has tried to point out some reasonable aspects of environmental education guidelines which would be pursued through school music programs. In the music subject the following eight environmental education strategies could be suggested: 1. An affective aspect of music should be used in educating students to aware of the importance of environmental problems. 2. The effectiveness of employing music for various educational purposes should be implemented to make students environmentally enlightened individual. 3. The main issue of environmental problem must be used in various musical activities such as singing, implementing, composing and appreciating music. 4. By employing an alternative materials for making musical instruments, students and musicians can participate in environmental education program actively. 5. Music is analogues to life and nature. Thus it is highly suggested for teachers to teach students music more sincerely In a way of studying music more seriously, students could achieve environmental education goals by discovering the similarities of the nature of the environment and music as a human environment. 6. By appreciating many musical works of dealing with environmental problems and ecological problems, one could achieve the necessary goals of environmental education. 7. By enlarging the boundary of music including the sounds of nature such as birds' singing, sounds of winds and various streams and tree's trembling, music could achieve the major goals of environmental education. 8. By recognizing sounds as an important human environment, school music program could attain the goals of environmental education. The researcher also has mentioned about the characteristics of music as a schooling subject. and has provided with some detailed curriculum guidelines for strengthening environmental education programs in music classes. Some model lesson plans implementing the environmental education for elementary, junior high school and 10th grade music classes are also suggested followed by six specific teaching & learning methods for environmental education.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the necessary data for the effective performance of school nurse's work by comparing with the recognition and expectation on school nurse's work by the students and their teachers in school settings. The sample of this study was consisted of the 441 students and 535 teachers in Suwon. The data were collected by means of a structured questionnaire from 24th, Sept, to 29th, Sept. 1990. The collected data were analyzed utilizing SAS/PC program for percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation and chisquare test. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The result of analysis in recognition on school nurse's work. There is no statistically significant difference 'depending on teachers' school level, sex, age and career with school nurse(P>0.05). The students show significant difference on their school level and sex(P>0.05). Also, in the areas of school nurse's work, school clinic management has the highest recognition and school environment management has the lowest recognition. 2. The result of analysis in expectation on school nurse's work. There is statistically significant difference depending on teachers' and students' school level: the order of expectation is elementary, middle, and high school(P<0.05). In the result of comparison with students' and teachers' expectation in the same school level, there is significant difference only in elementary school(P<0.05). However, there is no statistically significant difference depending on teachers' sex, age, career with school nurse and students' sex(P>0.05). Also, in the areas of school nurse's work, school clinic management has the highest expectation and school environment management has the lowest expectation. Synthesizing the result of the study, we can have the conclusion like following. First, students' recognition on school nurse's work is lower than teachers' because most of school nurse's work is performed through their homeroom teachers or other teachers. That can be the limitation for students to recognize school nurse's work. So, there must be a chance of regular meeting between school nurse and students to perform school nurse's work effectively. For this. we must change our educational system and make school nurse charge regular lesson. Second, in each area of school nurse's work, both students' and teachers' recognition and expectation about the area of school environment management has much lower score than the other areas. This indirectly shows the school nurse don't do the work of the area actively. So, school nurses must make an effort to do the work of the area actively. And we must enforce the education of this area in education for new school nurses or re-education for school nurses.

  • This study aimed to analyze cases of online class design by pre-service science teachers to identify the teaching strategies employed for online classes. For this purpose, the real-time online class lesson plans of 12 pre-service science teachers, who had experienced education utilizing online teaching tools for a semester, were collected and analyzed. The pre-service science teachers considered all the elements that were essential in traditional face-to-face class designs, including prerequisites, statements of learning objectives, stimulating motivation, teaching and learning methods, wrapping up, teacher-student interaction, and assessment. They devised teaching strategies that could overcome the limitations of online teaching and were not feasible in face-to-face classes for each element. Additionally, they were considering new instructional strategies tailored to the online teaching environment, such as creating a conducive environment for using online teaching tools and strategies related to checking the online teaching environment. However, for statements of learning objectives, stimulating motivation, and wrapping up, most of the pre-service science teachers predominantly utilized teaching strategies from traditional face-to-face classes, especially those involving the presentation of visual materials through online tools. Student-centered approaches were rarely implemented in stimulating motivation or wrapping up. These findings imply that one semester of exposure to the utilization of online teaching tools may be insufficient in teacher education. Thus, there is a need for a continuous and expanded educational program on the utilization of online teaching tools as part of pre-service teacher education.
