This paper describes the automatic recognition technique for heart enlargement diagnosis with the chest X-ray films enhanced by digital image processing. The technique measures a maximum transverse of the daiphragm and a maximum transverse of the heart by means of direction signature algorithms, then calculates the desired ratio of these two measured values. This is often refered to a cadiothoracic ratio which gives as useful clue for heart enlargement symptom. The experiment results in this paper show presented method is more efficient than the manual diagnosis method of the symptom.

The filling effects of test cigarettes prepared the different cutting width on the three brands (NC82, Burley21 and 88Light) were compared with their regular cigarette by the value of "Hardness" and "draw ressistance". Results obtained were as follows: 1. With enlargement of the shred width. The hardness of cigarettes became harder than the standard one in the same filling-weight When the shred width enlarged by 0.2mn from standard, the saving rate of tobacco materials would be 4~5%. 2. As the shred width became wider, Long strand was rich and short strand was poor. 3. The enlargement of the shred width may increase the standard deviation of filling-weight of cigarettes in some case.rettes in some case.

There have been many researches to yield higher resolution image quality from the low resolution CCD device. The resolution of it is primary factor for the image quality of digital still camera and in manufacturing price. IN this paper, image enlargement algorithm, which reduces blocking effect of enlarged low resolution image and minimizes ringing and blur effect occurring around edge in linear interpolation, is proposed. This algorithm is composed of gaussian low pass filter which eliminates aliasing, least square spline interpolation and non-linear interpolation based on step edge model.

A Shih Tzu Puppy had clinical onset of anotexia crying and progression of neurological sings when enlargement of the cranial vault at 1 month old and died after showing clinical signs during 2 months period. Radiological and pathological examinations were performed. Radiological findings were homogeneous appearance of the calvaria with cortical thinning, loss of the normal convolutional skull markings and persistent fontanelles. Grossly enlargement of the cranial vault thinning of the bone and defective closure of the fontanelles were also observed. The entire subcortical area of the cerebral hemispheres with severe, dilatation of ventricles and cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) wits absent. There was parenchyma atrophy affecting chiefly in the white mater and the cerebral cortices, axon degeneration and necrosis and gitter cell infiltration in the whiter matter and the subependymal area. Mononuclear perivacular cuffing in the cerebrum and the pons was shown. Based on the radiological, gross and histopathological findings, this case was believed to have congenital hydrocephalus with nonsuppurative encephahitis. Possible etiology on the case is also discussed.

The government have plans to improve the railway transport capacity and transport hub for the sustainable national transport and logistics system. Specially, there are much efforts to improve transportation capacity such as high speed transportation of rail freight, enlargement of BT train, development of double stack train, etc. between railway transport hubs. If the transport capacity between railway logistics hubs is increased as planned, we must increase the handling capacity of railway hub terminals. But there are limits to enlarge the terminal infrastructure because of investment scale, location circumstances and urban development plans. To ensure the capacity, with the minimum required enlargement of infrastructure, it is necessary to extremely increase the efficiency of terminal operations. For improving the efficiency, we have to introduce the efficient terminal operation systems based on u-IT and operation optimize technologies. In this paper, we analyse the issues and problems of railway terminals(including ICD) and suggest the concept of intelligent railway terminal and the construction components of technology.

Main target of fishing policy was enlargement of fishing catches in Korea after 1960s. This has caused sustainable decrease of the amount on the fisheries resource. In the result, fishing managements in Korea have suffered from aggravation of management. In this research, it is estimated the technical efficiency on Korean Off-shore Stow Nets Fishery that was made publication by Farrel in 1957. According to the analysis, Its were excessive to the gap of technical efficiency among Korean Off-shore Stow Nets Fishing boats. The gaps were excessive not only among each fishing managements but also by tonnage class and by region. Then we can recognize we need the change of Fishing Policy. That is, we should change for main target of fishing policy from enlargement of fishing catches to the policy of Price. And we should consider the supply of standard tonnage boats and specialization of fisheries by regions.

We report the case of a patient who presented with rupture of a silicone breast implant showing acute and chronic inflammation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed silicone foci outside the implant shell and inside the pectoralis muscles that represented intra- and extracapsular ruptures of the implant and silicone granuloma. There were distinct fluid-fluid levels of various signal intensities and no signs of implant collapse such as 'linguine sign.' Rather, we detected enlargement of both the implant shell and the breast.

Purpose: The objective of the present article is to determine whether there are differences in vertical enlargement ratio among various sites within both jaws in a panoramic radiograph. Materials and Methods: Two hundred and seventy-threeimplant sites in panoramic radiographs were evaluated by two observers. Magnification ratios at various sites in both jaws were calculated and compared with each other. Result: The average vertical enlargement ratio in the panoramic radiograph was 1.264 and this value was larger than original ratio 1.250. Although vertical magnification ratio of maxillary molar area was higher than that of mandibular molar area, every group showed similar magnification ratio in clinical respect. Conclusion: Vertical magnification ratio of the maxillary molar area is statistically higher than that of the mandibular molar area in the panoramic radiograph, but it is clinically negligible.

An approximately 8-month-old, 2.61 kg, male Siamese kitten was referred with primary complaints of a 1-week history of respiratory distress, exercise intolerance and dyspnea. Diagnostic studies identified III/VI systolic murmur in the cardiac auscultation, right ventricular enlargement patterns in the electrocardiogram, pleural effusion and right-sided cardiomegaly in the thoracic radiography, and right marked ventricular dilatation, right atrial enlargement, atrial septal defect and abnormal left atrium divided by fibromuscular membrane. Based on these findings, the case was diagnosed as cor triatriatum sinistrum complicated with an ostium primum atrial septal defect. The cat was rescued with furosemide, nitroglycerine, oxygen supplement and fluid removal from pleural cavity.

An abrupt increase of duct cross-section is frequently encountered in pressure reducing devices, valves of internal combustion engines and in gas pipelines. Supersonic flow in a rectangular duct passing an abrupt increase of cross-section is studied numerically. The behavior of base pressure of the dead-air region at sudden enlargement of the duct is clarified. This investigation concerns the determination of the base pressure, which is independent of the size of the enlarged part. Several flow patterns are identified with different enlargements according to the ratio between the downstream ambient pressure and the upstream reservoir pressure. Base pressure and the resulting shock-structure are highly depending on the size of duct enlargement. For a given duct, base pressure tends to minimum for a particular pressure ratio. In addition, the locations of secondary separation and reattachment points of the jet plume are found with respect to different duct enlargements.
