비대면 환경에서의 비판적 사고와 토론교육 - 공대 신입생 대상 온라인 수업 사례를 중심으로 (Critical Thinking and Debate Education under Non-Face-to-Face Situation - Through Online classes for Freshmen at the Engineering College)

  • This research is a case study about "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" class which was done for freshmen at the engineering college of "S" Women's University. Real time remote classes through LMS and ZOOM were the most effective tools under on-line circumstances, considering the fact that video lectures only cannot cultivate students' capabilities of critical thinking and communication. Throughout the analysis on students' self-reflection journals and lecture evaluations, this paper examined considerable future points and the pros and cons of "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" under online presentation and discussion situation. As research outputs, students told they could feel less nervousness and anxiety when they exercise and have a presentation because they could choose familiar space for them. In addition, students also told that they feel comfortable about both self-feedback and peer evaluation, repeatedly seeing the recorded video clip. However, on the contrary, sometimes students felt uncomfortable due to unstable internet connection through the online classes, and they also were regretful about the missing chances of interaction between a teacher and students and of intimate exchanges among students. They also told they had felt a kind of limit of enhancing their presentation skills just in front of the monitor. Considering these outcomes, this research paper points out that online education needs to be proceeded by strengthening multi layered feedback to students with the build-up of a non-face-to-face stable educational infrastructure, application of online instructional strategy, and utilization of YouTube platform and video contents. Through this research paper, I hope the new system of encompassing on/off line "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" and effective teaching and learning method can be developed soon by strengthening the strength of online education.

대학생의 학습유형과 대학 수학교과의 학업성취도 관계 연구 - 수도권 중규모 대학교의 이공대학 신입생을 중심으로 (A study on the relationship between learning styles of students and academic achievement in mathematics - Focusing on freshmen enrolled in a college of science and engineering of the medium-sized university)

  • 본 연구는 자연대학과 공과대학 신입생들의 학습유형을 살펴보고, 학습유형과 대학수학교과의 학업성취도 간 관계를 탐색하여 학습자의 학습유형에 보다 적합한 대학수학교과 수업에 대한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여, Kolb의 LSI에 대한 신뢰도분석을 한 후 수도권 중규모 대학교의 자연대학과 공과대학 신입생 282명을 대상으로 LSI를 실시하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 학습자 유형은 수렴형, 동화형, 조절형, 확산형의 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 추상적개념화(AC)와 학업성취도 간에는 정적상관관계가, 구체적경험(CE)과는 부적상관관계가 나타났다. 셋째, 수렴형이 조절형과 확산형보다 학업성취도가 높았다. 넷째, 학습유형과 학업성취 도간 상관관계에 있어서 연구대상자의 특성에 따라 차이가 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로, 수학의 학문적 특성과 학습자의 학습유형을 고려하는 맞춤형의 다양한 교수-학습전략의 필요성과 함께, 4단계의 학습사이클을 개별 학습자가 효과적으로 개발할 수 있도록 하는 수업방법이 필요함을 제안하였다.

언택트 시대에 가상현실 기술을 이용한 가상 학교생활 체험 콘텐츠 연구 및 개발 (Research and Development of Virtual School Life Experiencing Contents Using Virtual Reality Technology in the Untact Era)

  • 최근 인류는 예전에는 경험하지 못하였던 '언택트(untact)' 시대를 맞이하고 있다. 언택트 시대의 주목할 만한 특징은 일상생활 환경에서 타인, 물체 등과 대면과 접촉을 하지 않거나 최대한으로 제한해야 한다는 것이다. 이러한 특수한 상황을 극복하고자 ICT 등 여러 최신의 기술들이 대면과 접촉의 효과를 주기 위하여 활용되고 있다. 특히 가상현실 기술은 사용자가 능동적으로 가상의 환경, 사물, 타인과 상호작용을 가능하게 하여 실제 생활에서 경험과 최대한 유사한 효과를 제공하고 있다. 학교 신입생들 또한 언택트 시대에 새로 입학한 학교의 환경이나 학사 운영 등을 경험하고 있지 못하고 있기에 여러 불편을 겪고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 어려움을 겪고 있는 학교의 신입생들을 위한 가상 학교생활 체험 콘텐츠에 대한 연구와 구현으로, 신입생들이 학교 건물 내외부의 활용, 수강 신청을 비롯한 학사 일정의 경험, 입학식 및 동아리 행사의 참여 등을 실제와 최대한 유사한 환경에서 실행할 수 있게 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 신입생들은 구현된 VR 콘텐츠를 통하여 새로운 학교에 쉽사리 적응할 수 있을 것이다.

우수한 공대생의 교육 활동 참여 분석: 개인투자이론을 기초로 (An Analysis on Educational Experience of Competent Engineering Students based on Personal Investment Theory)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the educational experiences of competent engineering students and finding the reason why they invest their time and efforts engaging in school activities. Five students with high GPA, high K-CESA scores and successful employment or entrance test scores, participated in the survey and the interview. In checking their responses, their activities' records were gathered from school DB. According to the modified framework based on the personal investment theory, the interviews, survey and DB records were analyzed on the sense of self, the social cultural environment, and pattern of behaviors in schools. The competent engineering students are able to manage themselves, in maintaining a good relationship with the collegiate, and in having high self-efficiency. They also tend to put effort into their studies and participate in inbound and outbound school activities. At the last part, freshmen foundation, relationship within college, students' activity related future career, economic stability during studies are suggested for supporting students in universities.

Effect of the Circadian Rhythm on Social Network Service Addiction

  • This study is a descriptive survey research to investigate the effect of the circadian rhythm of the college students in different departments on the addiction to SNS. The subjects of this study were 150 freshman students in the Department of Nursing in K university, a four-year university located in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, and 130 freshmen students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in K Engineering university located in the same city. In this study, the difference of circadian rhythm and SNS addiction was analyzed among the subjects in different departments. The result showed that the circadian rhythm was not significantly different between the departments, but SNS addiction showed significant difference between the departments.

Handwritten Hangul Graphemes Classification Using Three Artificial Neural Networks

  • Hangul is unique compared to other Asian languages because of its simple letter forms that combine to create syllabic shapes. There are 24 basic letters that can be combined to form 27 additional complex letters. This produces 51 graphemes. Hangul optical character recognition has been a research topic for some time; however, handwritten Hangul recognition continues to be challenging owing to the various writing styles, slants, and cursive-like nature of the handwriting. In this study, a dataset containing thousands of samples of 51 Hangul graphemes was gathered from 110 freshmen university students to create a robust dataset with high variance for training an artificial neural network. The collected dataset included 2200 samples for each consonant grapheme and 1100 samples for each vowel grapheme. The dataset was normalized to the MNIST digits dataset, trained in three neural networks, and the obtained results were compared.

수준별 영어강좌 운영에 대한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Implementing Graded English Class)

  • The result of the English test for freshmen showed wide difference in the ability of students, which means the graded class is strongly required. This paper describes the case study about the graded English class that was carried out for the freshman. Every freshman must take an English placement test from problems bank and were classified according to the result of the test. In order to resolve the dissatisfaction of the high level students, the statutes of my university for credit were modified. In order to analyze the effect of the graded class, evaluation test using similar problems was carried out at the end of the semester. The effect of the graded class was analyzed by using the paired samples t-test method and there was a meaningful performance improvement at the average score. Additional improvements in the method of classification and credit granted were made by analyzing the results of the evaluation test and survey.

대학 신입생의 도서대출 자료 분석을 통한 학생 중심의 대학도서관 서비스 개선 및 활성화 방안 연구 (Study of the Service Improvement and Revitalization Measures of Student-Centered University Library through the Book Lending Data Analysis of Freshmen)

  • 대학생의 독서활동은 창의융합형 인재 양성에 있어서 기본적인 핵심 요소로 각 대학마다 다양한 교양교육 및 도서관 프로그램을 개발하여 시행하고 있다. 실제로 대학도서관에서는 주기적인 도서관만족도조사와 도서관이용자실태조사를 통해 도서관 서비스를 점검하고 개선하고 있지만, 대학생의 독서량과 대출책수 및 대출자 비율은 기대 이하이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학신입생 대상의 심층적인 도서대출 자료 분석을 통해 학생 중심의 도서관 서비스 개선 및 활성화 방안으로 (1)도서관 이용자교육의 조기 실시, (2)학생 참여형 도서관 수서(收書), (3)도서관 이용 자료의 학생 상담 활용, (4)학습지원을 위한 도서관 디포지터리(Depositary) 구축, (5)학생 개인별 도서관 CRM 도입 등을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 대학도서관의 대출책수와 대출자 비율이 기대치 이하인 각 대학도서관(전문대학 포함)에 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

기초적 공학교육을 위한 Reverse-engineering 교수법 (A New Educational Approach on Basic Engineering Education using Reverse-engineering)

  • 본 논문에서는 공학계열의 1학년 학생들이 자신의 분야와 다른 분야의 공학과의 관련성을 더 잘 이해하고, 공학적 상상력을 향상시킬 수 있는 교수법을 제안한다. 전통적으로 주변학문과 자신의 전공분야의 관계를 이해시키고 공학인으로서의 정체성을 주지시키기 위하여 1학년의 교육과정에 '공학설계' 과목을 배치하고 있다. 그러나 이 교육 목표를 달성하기 위하여, 단순 강의를 통한 설명이 주가 되어 왔으며, 적절한 실습을 통한 학습에는 그 소재나 형식의 선정에 한계가 있어왔다. 본 연구를 통하여, Reverse-engineering을 이용한 새로운 교육방법이 5년간에 걸쳐 시도되었으며, 이를 통하여 공학기초 교육목표를 달성할 수 있었다.

An International Freshman Exchange Program: A Trial for Engineering Design Education

  • The Engineering school of Tohoku University has been offering a Team-based Engineering Design Course to its first year students since 1996 in order to increase the level of both motivation and interest in engineering. Freshmen are required to select one of approximately 150 topics and do some research on this topic. This course also provides opportunities for students to participate in exchange programs with the University of Washington (UW) and the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). In the Tohoku-UW exchange program, which began in 1999, between 10 and 25 students of Tohoku visit the UW annually to present the results of the subjects the school has appointed in advance in the Team-based Engineering Design Course. In the Tohoku-USTB exchange program, which began in 2007, about 15 students from each university participate in a one day meeting organized by the students themselves. They give a presentation on either the results of the subject they selected in the course, or on an engineering related topic both groups have agreed to in advance. In this paper, a detailed history, the objectives, a schedule and the budget in these unique exchange programs is introduced together with an outline of the course and its contribution to the engineering design education.
