  • This paper presentss flux-to-dose conversion factors for neutrons and gamma-rays based on the concept of the maximum absorbed dose. Neutron flux-to-does-rate conversion factors for energies from 2.5$\times$10$^{-8}$ to 20 MeV are presented while the conversion factors for gamma-rays are given in the energy range of 0.01 to 15MeV. Flux-to-does-rate conversion factors, which were calculated under the assumption that the radiation energy distribution has nonlinearity in phantom, are different from those values obtained by monoenergetic radiation. Especially, these values obtained here were determined for the cross section libray such as DLC-23, DLC-27, and DLC-31. The flux-to-dose-rate conversion factors obtained in this work are in a good agreement with the values presented by American National Standard Institute (ANSI) N666. These results are used to calculate the dose rate distribution of neutron and gamma-ray in any radiation fields, and will be useful for the radiation shielding analysis, radiation protection and radiation dosimetry concerned with problems of continuous energy distribution.

  • We investigated effects of electrical, physical, and chemical parameters on energy transfer, NO conversion, and light emission in the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) process. As gap distance between electrodes increased, discharge onset voltage increased. However, as gap distance between electrodes increased, electric field which initiates discharge showed approximately the same value, 30kV/cm. The discharge onset voltage of the coarse surface electrode was lower than that of the smooth surface electrode. And, energy transfer was slightly enhanced in the coarse electrode condition. However, NO conversion rate decreased with the coarse surface electrode because more uniform discharge can be obtained on the smooth surface electrode. The NO conversion rate increased with decreasing the initial concentration, so the DBD process is more feasible in the lower concentration condition. The variation of gas residence time tested at the same energy density in the experiment did not affect on the NO conversion. The result shows that the NO conversion rate mainly depends on the energy density. The DBD process is able to adjust on plasma-photocatalyst process because it emits the short wavelength light in the range of ultraviolet. The intensity of light emission increased with the increase of the energy transfer to the reactor and the gas flow rate.

  • It has been stand high in estimation to converse from Carbon dioxide to Dimethyl Ether in new alternative fuel energy division in 21C, especially Using of DME in point of view of transportation fuel has been discussed of a new clean energy which is very lower of exhaust gas than gasoline and diesel energy. In this paper it is used ZSM-5 and I developed new catalyst by addition of cerium to control acidity. The new catalyst was proved high conversion rate, when it was conversed from methanol to DME, there wasn't any additional material except DME and water, and I overlooked reaction temperature, reaction time, amount of catalyst, amount of added cerium, effect of water content in methanol, reaction temperature by making change of reaction time. I have conclude that conversion rate to DME was increased as increased of catalyst amounts. The best catalyst condition of without additional product was treated poisoning from ZSM-5 to 5% cerium and new catalyst was not effected in purity of fuel methanol.

  • The thermodynamic performance of ocean thermal energy conversion with 1 kg/s geothermal water flow rate as a heat source was evaluated to obtain the basic data for the optimal design of cycle with respect to the classification of the working fluid. The basic thermodynamic model for cycle is rankine cycle and the geothermal water and deep seawater were adapted for the heat source of evaporator and condenser, respectively. R245fa, R134a are better to use as a working fluid than others in view of the use of geothermal water. It is important to select the proper working fluid to operate the ocean thermal energy conversion. So, this paper can be used as the basic data for the design of ocean thermal energy conversion with geothermal water and deep seawater.

  • Green ammonia is a promising renewable energy carrier. Green ammonia can be used in various energy conversion devices (e.g., engine, fuel cell, etc.). Ammonia has to be fed with hydrogen for start-up and failure protection of some energy conversion devices. Ammonia can be converted into hydrogen by decomposition and partial oxidation. Especially, partial oxidation has the advantages of fast start-up, thermally self-sustaining operation and compact size. In this paper, thermodynamics, start-up and operation characteristics of ammonia partial oxidation were investigated. O2/NH3 ratio, ammonia flow rate and catalyst volume were varied as operation parameters. In thermodynamic analysis, ammonia conversion was maximized in the O2/NH3 range from 0.10 to 0.15. Ammonia partial oxidation reactor was successfully started using 12 V glow plug. At 0.13 of O2/HN3 ratio and 10 LPM of ammonia flow rate, ammonia partial oxidation reactor showed 90% of ammonia conversion over commercial Ru catalyst. In addition, Increasing O2/NH3 ratio from 0.10 to 0.13 was more effective for high ammonia conversion than increasing catalyst volume at 0.10 of O2/NH3.

  • We have investigated the kinetics and activity of waste catalysts for steam-lignite gasification. Waste catalysts I, II, III and reference $K_2CO_3$ were used and physical mixed with a coal. The gasification experiments were carried out with the low rank coal loaded with 1 wt% and 5 wt% catalyst at the temperature range from 700 to $900^{\circ}C$ using thermobalance reactor. It was observed that the carbon conversion reached almost 100% regardless of the kinds of catalysts at $900^{\circ}C$. The shortest time to reach the designated conversion was obtained for 1 wt% waste catalyst II and 5 wt% $K_2CO_3$ at $900^{\circ}C$. The gasification reaction rate constant increased with increasing the temperature. Highest rate constant was obtained with $K_2CO_3$ at $900^{\circ}C$. The lowest activation energy was 69.42 kJ/mol for 5 wt% waste catalyst II. The waste catalyst had an influence on the reduction of activation energy.

  • The ortho-para $H_2$ catalytic conversion equipment has been developed to reduce the evaporation loss from stored liquid hydrogen. The ortho-para $H_2$ conversion heat is evaluated at liquid nitrogen temperature. This problem is of particular interest in the design of the ortho-para $H_2$ converter in a hydrogen liquefaction system. The ortho-para $H_2$ conversion equipment consists of a catalytic converter, a precooler, and a liquid nitrogen bath. 30-90 cc of $Fe(OH)_3$ are employed as a catalyst in the present converter. The conversion heat and conversion effectiveness are evaluated when mass flow rate of hydrogen is in the range of 0.05-l.6 g/min. It is found that the ortho-para conversion heat is increased while conversion effectiveness is decreased as the mass flow rate of hydrogen is increased. Both the ortho-para conversion heat and conversion effectiveness are increased with an increase in the amount of the catalyst.

  • Power to gas (P2G) is one of the energy storage technologies that can increase the storage period and storage capacity compared to the existing battery type. One of P2G technology produces hydrogen by decomposing water from renewable energy (electricity) and the other produces CH4 by reacting hydrogen with CO2. This study is an experimental study to produce CH4 by reacting CO2 of biogas with hydrogen using a 40 wt% Ni-Mg-Al catalyst and a commercial catalyst. Catalyst characteristics were analyzed through H2-TPR, XRD, and XPS instruments of 40% Ni catalyst and commercial catalyst. The effect on the CO2 conversion rate and CH4 selectivity was analyzed, and the activities of a 40% Ni catalyst and a commercial catalyst were compared. As a result of experiment, In the case of a 40 wt% catalyst, the maximum CO2 conversion rate showed 77% at the reaction temperature of 400℃. Meanwhile, the commercial catalyst showed a maximum CO2 conversion rate of 60% at 450℃. When 50% of CO was added to the CO2 methanation reaction, the CO2 conversion rate was increased by about 5%. This is considered to be due to the atmosphere in which the CO reaction can occur without the process of converting to CH4 after forming carbon and CO as intermediates in terms of the CO2 mechanism on the catalyst surface.

  • Limited sources of fossil fuels and also global climate changes caused by $CO_2$ emissions are currently discussed around the world. As a renewable, carbon neutral and widely available energy source, biogas is regarded as a promising alternative to fossil fuels. In this study, a plasma dump reformer was proposed to produce $H_2$-rich synthesis gas by a model biogas. The three-phase gliding arc plasma and dump combustor were combined. Screening studies were carried out with the parameter of a dump injector flow rate, water feeding flow rate, air ratio, biogas component ratio and input power. As the results, methane conversion rate, carbon dioxide conversion rate, hydrogen selectivity, carbon monoxide yield at the optimum conditions were achieved to 98%, 69%, 42%, 24.7%, respectively.
