The Purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for energy conservation strategies of the multipurpose greenhouse which is appropriate to Jeju environmental circumstance. In this study, climatic analysis, field works, literature reviews and building load calculations were performed to identify solutions to design needs. As conceptual design strategies, various energy conservation strategies such as passive solar design, natural ventilation and high performance glazing system were examined and applied to design alternatives.
The industrial sector is the largest energy consumer, accounting for 44% of the total energy consumption of Korea in 1981. Energy conservation in the industrial processes is one of the most important strategies to the energy conservation to the nation. This paper introduces principles of energy conservation which is the maximum thermodynamic efficiency in energy use. Two important factors considered are how much heat is available and how good is the heat available (the quality of energy).

Recent works have validated the possibility of reducing the energy consumption in wireless heterogeneous networks, achieved by switching on/off some base stations (BSs) dynamically. In this paper, to realize energy conservation, the discrete time Markov Decision Process (DTMDP) is developed to match up the BS switching operations with the traffic load variations. Then, an asynchronous decision-making algorithm, which is based on the Bellman equation and the on/off priorities of the BSs, is firstly put forward and proved to be optimal in this paper. Through reducing the state and action space during one decision, the proposed asynchronous algorithm can avoid the "curse of dimensionality" occurred in DTMDP frequently. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed asynchronous on/off strategies.

The energy conservation is one of the most important issues in recent years. Especially, the energy conservation through improved control strategies is one of the most highly possible area to be implemented in the near future. The energy conservation of the ice storage system can be accomplished through the improved control strategies. A real time building load prediction algorithm was developed. The expected highest and the lowest outdoor temperature of the next day were used to estimate the next day outdoor temperature profile. The measured dry bulb temperature and the measured building load were used to estimate system parameters by using the on-line weighted recursive least square method. The estimated hourly outdoor temperatures and the estimated hourly system parameters were used to predict the next day hourly building loads. In order to see the effectiveness of the building load prediction algorithm, two different types of building models were selected and analysed. The simulation results show less than 1% in error for the prediction of the next day building loads. Therefore, this algorithm may successfully be used for the development of improved control algorithms of the ice storage system.
This paper aims to examine how gamification strategies lead to the changes in consumers' perspectives and behaviors on energy savings. Since gamification strategies began to be widely used in the late 2010s, the strategies have been extensively applied to a variety of industries and applications, including the field of energy savings. As energy saving practices adopting gamification strategies reflect the attributes of game, citizens can be pleased to participate in energy saving activities. Also, the gamification strategies are expected to raise citizens' awareness to the necessity of reducing energy consumption. Therefore, considering the subjects and specific objectives, the action plans for applying gamification strategies to energy saving programs are required to be established to meet the demand of new services on energy savings.

From the dependence the primary energy of about 97% on imported energy from abroad in Korea, 1997, and the pressure by international address to the Global Climate Change and environmental problem, we should do our best efforts to develop and diffuse of energy technologies. Also, the developed countries such USA, EU, Japan, and so on, are promoting and accelerating the development of energy technologies. From those point of views, we thought that Korea now in the time to provide the new and updated strategies to develop the energy technologies more actively for enhancing national capability, The Korea Institute of Energy Research(KIER), the complex research institution for energies except nuclear energy sponsored by government, prepared the mid and long term strategies and primary research projects, must be worked in and with the KIER, for the areas related to the energy conservation and efficiency increase, the energy environment, the alternative energy, and the diffusion of developed energy technologies.

The objective of this study is to develop energy saving strategies for indoor swimming pools and to estimate the effect of each energy saving strategy. For this purpose, field measurements regarding pool water heating energy, domestic hot water heating energy are conducted and a base energy consumption model is implemented using the DOE-2.1E program. The results of the study reveal that 25% of the total pool water heating energy may be saved by using night time pool covers, 27% of the total domestic hot water heating energy may be saved by using a waste water heat recovery system (effic. 60%), and of the total ventilation energy may be saved using an exhaust air heat recovery system (effic. 60%).
The study, considering the fact that most of the recently built atrium buildings do not fulfill their capacity of energy conservation and environmental control, aims to develop design strategies for architects in designing atrium buildings in terms of energy/environment standpoint. The research includes case studies of existing atrium buildings, quantatative analysis of energy performance for atrium buildings and systematic investigation of various aspects of atrium regarding its function of thermal, luminous and acoustical control of a building. The result of the study may contribute to the considerable reduction of energy consumption as well as to improvement of overall building environment.
Purpose: Cancer-related fatigue is frequently experienced by patients during and after therapy. The present study was conducted to assess the impact of energy conservation strategies and health promotion in breast cancer survivors. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was carried out to compare the intervention effect (n=69.0) with controls (n=66.0) based on routine oncology ward care. The intervention was five weekly sessions for groups of 6-8 breast cancer survivors. Data on fatigue and health promotion lifestyle were obtained before and after completion the intervention and then 8 weeks later for analysis of variance (ANOVA) with repeated measures. Results: Our findings showed cancer-related fatigue to be reduced in the intervention group from pre- to post-intervention, and this persisted over the 8-weeks follow-up period (F = 69.8, p<0.001). All subscales of the cancer fatigue scale demonstrated statistically significant effects with partial eta-squared values ranging from 0.15 (the smallest effect in cognitive fatigue) to 0.21 (the largest for affective fatigue). Changes in the health promotion life style indicated a significant promotion from pre- to post-intervention, and this again continued after 8-weeks follow-up (F = 41.6, p < 0.001). All six domains of a health promoting life style featured significantly elevated values, the largest effect being seen in the interpersonal relations subscale (F=57.7, partial ${\eta}^2=0.21$, p<0.001) followed by physical activity (F=51.9, partial ${\eta}^2=0.18$, p<0.001). Conclusions: The program was effective in decreasing cancer related fatigue and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
