  • This paper describes fingerprint matching algorithm using connected information between minutiae. We regard minutiae as ridge bifurcation and ridge ending. Features are composed of minutia's position, type(ridge bifurcation or ridge ending) ridge direction and connected ridge information. While the minutiae are extracted, we store connected in information between minutiae on the same ridge. They are used to find corresponding point pairs. Minutiae are aligned completely by two corresponding point pairs and point pattern matching is achieved by counting the number of overlapping pairs. It is invariable t translation and rotation. We have tested proposed method on the 445 fingerprints from 89 persons. These experimental results show that proposed algorithm improve 33% in speed.

  • The circular arc is a very useful feature for object detection and recognition in industrial environments. In this paper, a new method to detect circular arcs is proposed. The detection of the circular arc includes the estimation of the center, the radius and the two ending points of the arc. This new method is based on determining the best part of the circular arc (part which does not contains outliers points) using 3 points designated along the arc. A least square method is applied to the best part of the arc and the center and the radius of the arc are obtained. The distance between the remaining edge's points (points which are not lying on the best part of the arc) and the radius is used to the two ending points of the arc.

  • This study is aimed to investigate the aspect of using relative clauses in Korean. The data used for this study were extracted from the Korean text books for the foreign students and from the Chinese students' Korean compositions. They are the learners of Korean language at the early intermediated stage. As the result of analyzing them, the followings were found I)the majority of relative clauses in Korean consists of left-branching sentences. ii)The number of the subject relative clauses was higher than object ones in both of them. Especially in the aspect of using relative clauses, subject ones were used even more frequently than objective ones. This result is corresponded to the previous thesis, "the subject relative clauses was acquired earlier than object ones". iii)The relative clauses that those with a head noun function as subject in the main sentence showed in higher proportion in comparison of those as object. That is, this study showed that subjects were used more frequently than objects in the relative clauses used in their compositions. Finally, this study analyzed the errors of adnominal ending usage occurring in their compositions. More errors occurred when adjective form ended with '-hada' are changed into adnominal ending one.

  • This study examines the potentials and limitations of interactive movies at present by reading the narrative of the interactive movie, through the concept of gamification. The 'quest' of the is to choose an option to play out the story in unpredictable world, and the 'reward' is the hierarchy of the ending. It is necessary to reduce uncertainty between option and ending, intensify playfulness, and provide a variety of discriminative endings in order to make viewers immerse deeper in interactive movies. Such an analysis implies that the intensification of gamification elements may influence the immersion in interactive movies positively.

  • Temporal bone trauma can cause hearing loss and in case of prolonged conductive hearing loss, traumatic ossicular injury should be considered. Separation of the incudostapedial joint is the most common lesion, and stapediovestibular dislocation is relatively rare but can easily cause perilymphatic fistula. Here, we report a very rare case of external stapediovestibular dislocation after trauma, ending up with successful surgical outcome. A 27-year-old man with non-progressive hearing loss on the right side since childhood visited the clinic. Audiogram showed a conductive hearing loss with air-bone gap of 55 dB on the right side. Temporal bone CT revealed the disruption of ossicular chain. An exploratory tympanotomy identified multiple ossicular disruptions including external stapediovestibular dislocation with shiny fibrous membrane sealing the oval window. Ossicular chain reconstruction was performed using the total ossicular replacement prosthesis of titanium. A postoperative audiogram showed a recovery of air-bone gap less than 10 dB. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of external long-standing stapediovestibular dislocation, with oval window completely sealed with fibrous membrane, ending up with successful hearing recovery by surgery. This case would help dealing with such condition which can be encountered in the clinic.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the capacity of two-lane freeway work zone blocking one lane using traffic flow models of each vehicle-type. Firstly, three traffic flow models of three different vehicle-types were developed using the data collected from each at the beginning and the ending point of the work zone. For each model, the maximum flow rate of three vehicle-types were calculated respectively. Maximum flow rate at the work zone was recalculated using passenger car equivalent value and percentage of vehicle-type. Secondly, traffic flow model using passenger car equivalent volume data was developed using the data collected from each at the beginning and the ending point of the work zone. Maximum flow rate for the work zone was calculated along. Two values of maximum flow rates through the work zone were compared and evaluated as the capacity of the work zone. This study found that the maximum flow rate of the work zone at the beginning point was less than that at the ending point because of impedance such as lane changing behaviors before entering the work zone. The capacity of two-lane freeway work zone blocking one lane was estimated 1,800pcphpl.

  • The problem-based storytelling of the three-act structure, which sees the plot of the story as a solution to the problem of the character, has been the guide of creation to the creator of popular stories since Aristotle. Also problem-based storytelling has served as a schema that provides dramatic catharsis to the audience of the story, and one of the dramatic catharsis It has been working as a schema. This problem - based storytelling has been used as a structure for story production programs that have been developed since the 1980s. However, this story authoring program is focused only on the external problem of the story, but it has the limitation of producing the story that can not solve the internal problem of the character and provide the catharsis. This paper analyze the plot structure of 'StoryHelper', which is a domestic story authoring program, and the ending of 900 films, both domestic and foreign, which are database in 'StoryHelper'. 'StoryHelper' presents a problem-based plot structure that can consider not only external problems but also internal problems by applying causality and mythical episodes. The structure of these plots is based on the parameters of external problem solving, unresolved internal problem solving, and unresolved variables maturity plot(542films), disillusion plot(111films), education plot(132films), tragedy plot(205films). The results of this analysis are expected to provide a meaningful structure for plot-based creative and creative program development.

  • This paper describes dramatherapy with a bulmina nervosa patient. She was in her early 20s and has been under the various psychotherapies for cure of deep depression since 2005. We had 24 sessions and 3 persons - the patient, the therapist, and the assist-therapist- participated in dramatherapy. I found there's a big collision between her important roles in the course of initial interview and diagnosis. Those roles are 'a good daughter of mom' and 'an independent adult'. Therefore I defined her bulmina nervosa as 'an symbolic behavior repeats compulsively the failure of separation from her mother.' And I set the general goals, the separation from her mother, the awareness and expression of negative emotions, and the diminuation of overeating and vomiting. To attain these object, we had many different dramatic experiences in dramatherapy. We made a self-portrait, the mask of bulmina nervosa, family sculpture, figure work, the past I and the present I, psychodramatic scene and several stories. In order to objective assessment, I used behavioral observation and 6PSM(6 Pieces Story Making) analysis. First of all the most noticeable change was a rapid decrease in over-eating and vomiting. Before the dramatherapy she had overeaten 30 times per week. At the closure it has fallen off to 1 time per week. Another behavioral changes were shift of outward appearance, not going church, working for living, and having a date with only one. She made 3 stories on 1th session, 13th session, and 23th session. And I comparatively analysed those stories with both qualitative and quantitative method. For qualitative analysis, I classified 5 structures according to the substantial similrarity. On protagonist structure, there's no difference. Three protagonists are dead things. The type of task structure is changed from an escape, a traveling, to metamorphosis. The type of obstruction structure is changed from the protagonist to an outside object. The type of closure structure is changed from an exaggerated happy ending, sad ending to probable happy ending. To quantitify the aspects of transformation, I developed an assesment tool using likert scale. It is composed of 4 sub-categories-reality testing, imagination, ego-strength, optimism problem-solving. In reality testing category, a shift of score was 9-11-15, imagination 2-5-5, ego strength 3-2-2, optimism 6-3-7, and total score 20-21-29. This change of score reflects the growth of problem solving capacity. Viewed in this light, dramatherapy with this girl was successful on the whole. The thing had significant effect on it was psycho-dynamic approach focused on separation from her mother and defence mechanism to avoid negative emotion. And assessment method used in this case will be full of suggestions to researches to come.

  • The Korean polysemic ending '-(eu)lgeol' can has two different meanings, 'guess' and 'regret'. These are expressed by different boundary-tone types: a rising tone for guess, a falling one for regret. Therefore the sentence-final boundary-tone type is the most salient prosodic feature. However, besides tone type, the pitch difference between the final and penultimate syllables of '-(eu)lgeol' can also affect semantic discrimination. To investigate this aspect, we conducted a perception test using two sentences that were morphologically and syntactically identical. These two sentences were spoken using different boundary-tone types by a Korean native speaker. From these two sentences, the experimental stimuli were generated by artificially raising or lowering the pitch of the boundary syllable by 1Qt while fixing the pitch of the penultimate syllable and boundary-tone type. Thirty Korean native speakers participated in three levels of perceptual test, in which they were asked to mark whether the experimental sentences they listened to were perceived as guess or regret. The results revealed that regardless of boundary-tone types, the larger the pitch difference between the final and penultimate syllable in the positive direction, the more likely it is perceived as guess, and the smaller the pitch difference in the negative direction, the more likely it is perceived as regret.
