Long-term International Oil Trade Model for the Analysis of Oil Price and Economic Growth (세계원유가격 및 경제성장분석을 위한 장기국제원유무역모형)

  • Since energy consumption of developing countries is expected to grow rapidly over the coming decades, the oil-importing developing countries are likely to encounter chronic balance-of-payments difficulties. To analyze the quantitative impacts of this problem, we develop a computable model of international trade. This paper presents four alternative cases - varying the assumptions with respect to energy supplies. This shows that relatively small difference in supplies can lead to 100% differences in the energy prices projected for 1990.

백화점의 인적서비스 아웃소싱(outsourcing) 동기와 성과에 관한 연구

  • The present paper discusses the current status of outsourcing of service encounter in department stores. We attempt to find if there is any significant relationship between outsourcing motive and business performance. The 30 department stores under analysis show that they vary in the degree to which they appreciate the necessity of outsourcing and also the which they employ outsourcing. It is also found that firm size influences the portion of outsourcing. The two main motives of outsourcing seem to be (i) cost saving and (ⅱ) better customer satisfaction. We find that the latter plays a more important role. However, there seems to be no significant connection between outsourcing and performance and between motives of outsourcing and performance.

  • biped robots are expected to robustly traverse terrain with various unknown surfaces. The robot will occasionally encounter the unexpected events in made-for human environments. The slipping is a very real and serious problem in the unexpected events. The robot system must respond to the unexpected slipping after it has occurred and before control is lost. This paper proposes a reflex control method for biped robots to recover from slipage. Computer simulations with the 6-DOF environment model which consists of nonlinear dampers, nonlinear springs, and linear springs, show that the proposed method is effective in preventing fall-down due to slippage.

Modelling Count Responses with Overdispersion

  • We frequently encounter outcomes of count that have extra variation. This paper considers several alternative models for overdispersed count responses such as a quasi-Poisson model, zero-inflated Poisson model and a negative binomial model with a special focus on a generalized linear mixed model. We also explain various goodness-of-fit criteria by discussing their appropriateness of applicability and cautions on misuses according to the patterns of response categories. The overdispersion models for counts data have been explained through two examples with different response patterns.

  • Problem solving is an important aspect of learning mathematics and has been extensively researched into by mathematics educators. In this paper we analyze the difficulties students encounter in various steps involved in solving problems involving physical and geometrical applications of mathematical concepts. Our research shows that, generally students, in spite of possessing adequate theoretical knowledge, have difficulties in identifying the hidden data present in the problems which are crucial links to their successful resolutions. Our research also shows that students have difficulties in solving problems involving constructions and use of symmetry.

  • In Korea, farming population is rapidly decreased in each decade. Consequently, farming is becoming more complex with multi cropping, animal production and green house farming. In this article, expert system establishment procedures are stated step by step and extensive literature review was conducted on the expert system development techniques.

  • In designing fuzzy model, we encounter a major difficulty in the identification of an optimized fuzzy rule base, which is traditionally achieved by a tedious-and-error process. This paper presents an approach to automatic design of optimal fuzzy rule bases for modeling using evolutionary programming. Evolutionary programming evolves simultaneously the structure and the parameter of fuzzy rule base a given task. To check the effectiveness of the suggested approach, 3 examples for modeling are examined, and the performance of the identified models are demonstrated.

  • This paper describes a simulation method of the correlation-signal output, which has Doppler effect (variation of amplitude, phase, and frequency) caused by the moving-effect of target and encounter conditions. Using these results, we can develope and verify the algorithm of the signal processing parts of the code correlation range sensor with ease.

  • 최적 열수력 안전해석 계산코드의 검증에 이용될 수 있는 열수력 실험데이터, 실험데이터 관련 설명자료, 데이터베이스 운영체계 및 인터페이스 등으로 구성되는 단순화된 열수력 실험 데이터 뱅크 (Simplified Organization of Thermalhydraulic Experiment Databank, SORTED)를 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 USNRC와의 국제 연구 협력을 통해 ENCOUNTER실험데이터를 도입하였고, 이를 기본으로 코드 평가 목적에 적합하도록 단순화된 데이터베이스 운영관리 체제 및 사용자 편이성을 강조하는 인터페이스 등을 개발하였다. 개발된 SORTED의 이용성, 사용자 편이성 등이 검증되었으며, 코드 평가에 적절히 이용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Cultural syndromes in Koreans and others - a medical anthropology in search for resolution and prevention

  • Korean Physicians encounter often the patients with cultural syndromes. This paper surveys those cultural syndromes in Korea, contrasted with those in other countries in five different domains; socio-cultural, sexual, psychological, psychosomatic and religio-spiritual. I discovered three natural consequences if not intervened; 1) healed and readjusted, 2) paradigmatically shifted for the better results and 3) mal-adjustment for the worse. In the hope to let the culture shifted toward better one, I propose to allow our Koreans to be educated, inspired by Park Wansoe's novel; 'Dreaming in an Incubator(꿈꾸는 인큐베이터)'.
