Consider a Rayleigh distribution with $$pdf\;p(x/{\theta})\;=\;2x{\theta}^{-1}\;{\exp}\;({-x^2}/{\theta})$$ and mean lifetime ${\mu}\;=\;\sqrt{\pi\theta}/2$. We study the two-action problem of testing the hypotheses $H_{0}\;:\;{\mu}{\leq}{\mu}_{0}$ against $H_{1}\;:\;{\mu}\;>\;{\mu}_{0}$ using a linear error loss of ${\mid}{\mu}\;-\;{\mu}_{0}{\mid}$ via the empirical Bayes approach. We construct a monotone empirical Bayes test ${\delta}^{*}_{n}$ and study its associated asymptotic optimality. It is shown that the regret of ${\delta}^{*}_{n}$ converges to zero at a rate $\frac{{\ln}^{2}n}{n}$, where n is the number of past data available when the present testing problem is considered.

This paper is concerned with the applicability of the chi-square approximation to the six disparity statistics: the Pearson chi-square, the generalized likelihood ratio, the power divergence, the blended weight chi-square, the blended weight Hellinger distance, and the negative exponential disparity statistic. Three dimensional contingency tables of small and moderate sample sizes are generated to be fitted to all possible hierarchical log-linear models: the completely independent model, the conditionally independent model, the partial association models, and the model with one variable independent of the other two. For models with direct solutions of expected cell counts, point estimates and confidence intervals of the 90 and 95 percentage points of six statistics are explored. For model without direct solutions, the empirical significant levels and the empirical powers of six statistics to test the significance of the three factor interaction are computed and compared.

This paper presents the equipment condition monitoring technology for the process or the equipment using statistical techniques. The equipment condition monitoring system consists of an empirical model to estimate the expected sensor values of process variables and a diagnose model to detect the abnormal condition and to identify the root source of the problem. The empirical model is constructed by the analysis of historic data. The diagnose model uses the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) technique. The monitoring system was tested with real operating data acquired from the Reactor Coolant Pump Seal in the Nuclear Power Plant. It can detect the system degradation or failure at the early stage since it is able to catch the subtle deviation of process variables from normal condition.

A semi-empirical model to predict ship resistance in level ice based on Lindqvist's model is presented. This model assumes that contact between the ship and the ice is a case of symmetrical collision, and two contact cases are considered. Submersion force is calculated via Lindqvist's formula, and the crushing and breaking forces are determined by a concept of energy consideration during ship and ice impact. The effect of the contact coefficient is analyzed in the ice resistance prediction. To validate this model, the predicted results are compared with model test data of USCGC Healy and icebreaker Araon, and full-scale data of the icebreaker KV Svalbard. A relatively good agreement is achieved. As a result, the presented model is recommended for preliminary total resistance prediction in advance of the evaluation of the icebreaking performance of vessels.

IThis research meets with empirical results in pursuit of aim as below mentioned. Firstly, it gets a line on two-way effects which have an effect on both (the country image and corporate image) by using the corporate image for the study of the country image. After making an analysis of the empirical test, found out that the corporate image has influence upon the country image significantly. Also found out that the country image has an effect on the corporate image powerfully. Therefore, it effects an inspection of evidence that the country image and corporate image have significantly positive concern, each other. Secondly, it is offering the way to use the culture marketing as grasping the mediating effects, which culture difference has influence upon the country image and the corporate image. The mediating effects show that the country image has influence on the corporate image more as culture difference is bigger.

This paper tried to develop differentiation strategies of policy process in governance. Firstly, we reviewed model of policy making(output-oriented model and process-oriented model, normative or idealistic approach and realistic or empirical approach, rational model and cognitive model etc). Now gumi city is making the policy based on the process-oriented model, realistic or empirical approach, cognitive model. So gumi city was winner the test of provinces innovation in 2005. Therefore, when we make the policy, consider these factor: citizen and public service personnel participate policy making process and control policy quality.

Recent icebreaking ships need to be designed to enhance not only icebreaking capability but also turning ability. For the evaluation of ice resistance induced by an icebreaking hull form, HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries) has developed the hybrid empirical formulas (Park et al., 2015) by considering the geometrical hull shape features, such as waterline and underwater sections. However, the empirical formulas have inherent limits to the precise estimation of the icebreaking and turning ability because the breaking process and the resulting pattern are ignored. For this reason, numerical calculation in time domain is performed to predict the icebreaking process and pattern. In the simulation, varying crushing stress according to velocity vectors and contact areas between hull and ice is newly introduced. Moreover, the simulation results were verified by comparing them with the model test results for three different bow-first icebreaking models.

One of the critical issues associated with the 40mm long hollow cylinder's development and maintenance is the prediction of cylinder erosion. The actual firing test is the most accurate method to measure the cylinder erosion rate. But it costs a great deal and requires a long measurement time. Hence many empirical methods have been proposed to predict the erosion rate and life span of long hollow cylinders. An EFC formula is calculated. An approximate erosion formula for the ammunition type A is derived to interpolate 16 observation values up to 4,000 rounds. A new erosion equation and muzzle velocity formula are also suggested. Several numerical results are presented.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to verify impacts of factors, representing Push-Pull-Mooring(PPM) on switch intention to OTT(Over-The-Top) service in demand for content and to find relationship between factors through empirical analysis. Design/methodology/approach This study designed a research model by deriving factors affecting the intention to switch on OTT service based on the Push-Pull-Mooring framework and researches on OTT service. To test the hypothesis, a total of 357 responses were collected from individuals with experience in using OTT service and analyzed using SPSS26 and SmartPLS3.0. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that the push, pull, and mooring factors proposed in this study had a significant effect on switching intention on OTT service. In addition, this study confirmed that both low switching cost and need for variety had a significant effect except for hypothesis H8.
