Emotional Behavior Decision Model Based on Linear Dynamic System for Intelligent Service Robots (지능형 서비스 로봇을 위한 선형 동적 시스템 기반의 감정 기반 행동 결정 모델)

  • This paper introduces an emotional behavior decision model based on linear system for intelligent service robots. An emotional model should make different behavior decisions according to the purpose of the robots. We propose an emotional behavior decision model which can change the character of intelligent service robots and make different behavior decisions although the situation and environment remain the same. We defined each emotional element such as reactive dynamics, internal dynamics, emotional dynamics, and behavior dynamics by state dynamic equations. The proposed system model is a linear dynamic system. If you want to add one external stimulus or behavior, you need to add just one dimensional vector to the matrix of external stimulus or behavior dynamics. The case of removing is same. The change of reactive dynamics, internal dynamics, emotional dynamics, and behavior dynamics also follows the same procedure. We implemented a cyber robot and an emotional head robot using 3D character for verifying the performance of the proposed emotional behavior decision model.

The Effect of Group Music Therapy on the Emotional Stabilisation and the Self-Efficacy of Juvenile Delinquents (집단음악치료가 비행청소년의 정서적 안정성과 자기효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of group music therapy on the emotional stabilisation and Self-Efficacy of juvenile delinquents. The subjects, who were from age 15 to 19 as juvenile delinquents, received juvenile protection Order one (1) and three (3) or Order (4) and were placed in custody designated by the Gwang Ju Family Court. The 24 subjects were divided into the experimental group (N=12), and the control group (N=12) at random. The experimental group was given 14 group music therapy session for 90 minutes each, two times a week, and the control group was not given any. Emotional stabilisation and the Self-Efficacy scores for each adolescent was compared before and after the experiment. Statistical methods used for data analysis were mean, the standard deviation, and the ANCOVA. Results are as follows. The experimental group was significantly increased in emotional stabilisation compared with the control group. The experimental group was significantly decreased in aggressive behavior compared and in stress compared with the control group. The experimental group was significantly increased in self-efficacy compared, in self-confidence compared and in self control efficacy compared with the control group. These results suggest that group music therapy are positive effects on improving the emotional stabilisation and the Self-Efficacy of juvenile delinquents.

  • Effectiveness of Long-term Group-counseling in Improving Emotional Intelligence and Prosocial Behavior in Preschooler The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of long-term group-counseling in preventing children's maladjustment at school. for this study, six children were selected for an experimental group and another six for a control group. They were tested using the Emotional Intelligence Rating System and the Prosocial Behavior Skill Situations Measure for Preschool Level. In addition to quantitative analysis, a qualitative analysis was conducted to examine group processes and changes in each child. The experimental group participated insocio-drama, group art therapy, and game play therapy whereas the control group did not receive any treatment. In order to examine the impact of the intervention, pre-program tests and post-program tests were conducted. The results were as follows. First, the children's emotional intelligence was improved with group counseling. There was a significant difference in emotional intelligence between the experimental and the control groups. Second, children's prosocial behavior ability alsoimproved. There was a significant difference in social ability between the experimental and the control groups.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine oriental medical concept of emotional intelligence, and to develop the ways of treatment. Methods: We investigated the literature of the oriental and western medicine about an emotional intelligence. Results: Regarding an emotional intelligence from the oriental medicine, it will follow in attributes of five elements(五行), five emotions(五志), seven passions(七情). Due to the five emotions and seven passions will take to control themselves with following the principle of poles at interinhibition, and intergeneration among the five phases. There is a possibility of trying to apply in reflection control of emotion(partIV). Five emotions(五志), depression theories(鬱症), and a control of theories of seven passions(七情調節) will be applied an emotional stability and an emotional control. Conclusion: This study showed that oriental medicine has more merits better than western medicine about emotional intelligence, because oriental medicine consider that the body and mental is an inseparable relation. The further study is necessary with the concept formulation and a historical investigation about an emotional intelligence.

Child-Mother Attachment and Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood (유아기 모-자녀 간 애착유형과 정서지능과의 관계)

  • Bowlby has proposed that child-mother attachment is important in the child's representation of self. In this study, the child's emotional intelligence was examined in connection with child-mother attachment with a sample of 5-year-olds. The quality of attachment was assessed based on the child's behavior on reunion following a separation, using a SSP (Strange Situation Procedure) system devised by Main and Solomon. The emotional intelligence was assessed with Lee's Scale for young children. The results show significant connections between child-mother attachment and the emotional intelligence. Specific areas of emotional intelligence are related to particular patterns of attachment. Namely, securely attached children are assessed significantly higher than the unsecurely attached, not only in the ability to identify and control their own emotions, but also in the ability to control others' emotional state. Also, securely attached children perceive their social competence significantly higher.

  • An exploration for an emotional intelligence paradigm has been delineated. Emotional intelligence is investigated in terms of composing machine as a modern abstract art. The system consists of interface, plan and performance modules. Design concepts of the system are modular, open, and user friendly to ensure the overall performance. The exploration of art in the view of intelligence, information and structure will restore the balanced sense of the art and the science seek the happiness of life. The investigations of emotional intelligence will establish the foundations of intelligence, information and control technologies.

  • The purpose of this Quasi-experimental design was to assess the effects of a hysterectomy on women's emotional response and ultimately, to develop a nursing protocol recommending nursing education for women undergoing a hysterectomy. The subjects at D university hospital receiving a hysterectomy,(for benign gynecological disease) were invited to participate in the study. Subjects who agreed to participate were allocated into control or experimental groups. Each group consisted of 30 women. The subjects emotional adaptation was surveyed through mood questionnaires. The data were analyzed using SAS program. The findings of the study are as follows: In the post test, the "experimental group" reported higher emotional adaptation than the "control group". Between pre and post testing, the "experimental group" showed significant improvement in emotional response; the "control group" did not. In conclusion, allocating nursing information to women both before and after undergoing a hysterectomy was confirmed as an effective nursing intervention for promoting women's emotional adaptation. Therefore, we propose a nursing protocol should be adapted recommending nursing education for women undergoing a hysterectomy.

The Effects of an Integrative Art Program on Young Children's Emotional Intelligence and Their Pro-Social Behaviors (만 4-5세 유아의 감성지능과 친사회적 행동 증진을 위한 유아통합미술활동프로그램의 효과)

  • This study was aimed to develop an integrative art program that incorporates both emotional and pro-social components for young children (age, 4-5 years). Furthermore, the effectiveness of this integrative program was examined with 39 young children who were divided into the experimental group and the control group of this study. To the experimental group, the integrative art program of interest in this study was provided over 8 weeks. The children of the control group were provided a similar program during the same period. To measure the levels of young children's emotional intelligence and those of their pro-social behavior were assessed by using the emotional intelligence questionnaire and the children's pro-social behavior assessment scale to collect the data. The analysis of covariance by SPSS 18.0 indicated that the young children from the experimental group exhibited higher total scores for emotional intelligence and pro-social behaviors than their counterparts from the control group. The results indicate that the integrative art program of interest in this study improved the young children's emotional intelligence and their pro-social behaviors. Along with main results of this study, implications for research and practice were discussed.

Activities for the Education of the Emotions : Effects on the Emotional Intelligence of Kindergarten Children (유치원에서의 감성교육 활동이 유아의 정서지능에 미치는 영향)

  • An experimental group consisting of 15 boys and 13 girls, and a control group of 12 boys and 18 girls comprised the 58 five-year-old kindergarten sample of this study. Teachers measured children's emotional intelligence with the Emotional Intelligence Rating Scale(Kim, 1998); educational activities for the emotions focusing on self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills were carried out with the experimental group. ANCOVA confirmed effectiveness of the educational activities; the experimental group had higher scores than the control group on self-awareness and expression of emotion, emotional regulation, and awareness of others' emotion. Children of the experimental group also showed higher interpersonal abilities in teacher and in peer relationships than the control group.

  • Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees.
