  • While conventional electronic devices have been fabricated on the rigid and brittle Si based wafer as a semiconducting substrate, future devices are increasingly finding applications where flexibility and stretchability are further integrated to enable emerging and wearable devices. To achieve high flexibility and stretchability, various approaches are investigated such as polymer based conducting composite, thin metal films on the polymer substrate, and structural modifications for stretchable electronics. In spite of many efforts, it is still a challenge to identify a solution that offers both high stretchability and superior electrical properties. In this paper, we introduce a highly stretchable entangled-mesh graphene showing a potential to address such requirements as stretchability and good electrical performance. Entangle-mesh graphene was synthesized by CVD graphene on the Cu foil. To analyze the mechanical properties of entangled-mesh graphene, endurance and stretching tester have been used.

  • Recently, as the demand for multimedia services based on the wireless technologies and mobile devices increases, Full-touch screen mobile devices adopting touch screen keyboards are emerging to cope with the limited display size and take advantage of the flexibility in the design of user interfaces. However, the text entry task, which is one of the main features of the mobile devices, decreases the competitive advantages of the touch screen keyboards over the physical keyboards or keypads due to the lack of physical feedbacks and the frequent occurrence of mistyping. This study aims to introduce a novel text entry method named Fuzzy Touch and compare this method with the conventional text entry method on a touch screen keyboard in terms of the performance (time, number of touch) and the subjective ratings (ease of use, overall preference).

  • With the rapid development of heterogeneous emerging wireless technologies and numerous types of mobile devices, the need to support robust mobile video streaming based on the seamless handover in Future Internet is growing. To support the seamless handover, several IP-based mobility management protocols such as Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), fast handover for the MIPv6 (FMIPv6), Hierarchical MIPv6 (HMIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) were developed. However, MIPv6 depreciates the Quality-of-Service (QoS) and FMIPv6 is not robust for the video services in heterogeneous emerging wireless networks when the Mobile Node (MN) may move to another visited network in contrast with its anticipation. In Future Internet, the possibility of mobile video service failure is more increased because mobile users consisting of multiple wireless network interfaces (WNICs) can frequently change the access networks according to their mobility in heterogeneous wireless access networks such as 3Generation (3G), Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) and Bluetooth co-existed. And in this environment, seamless mobility is coupled according to user preferences, enabling mobile users to be "Always Best Connected" (ABC) so that Quality of Experience is optimised and maintained. Even though HMIPv6 and PMIPv6 are proposed for the location management, handover latency enhancement, they still have limit of local mobility region. In this paper, we propose a robust mobile video streaming in Heterogeneous Emerging Wireless Systems. In the proposed scheme, the MN selects the best-according to an appropriate metric-wireless technology for a robust video streaming service among all wireless technologies by reducing the handover latency and initiation time when handover may fail. Through performance evaluation, we show that our scheme provides more robust mechanism than other schemes.

  • Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology scaling has been a main key for continuous progress in silicon-based semiconductor industry over the past three decades. However, as the technology scaling enters nanometer regime, CMOS devices are facing many serious problems such as increased leakage currents, difficulty on increase of on-current, large parameter variations, low reliability and yield, increase in manufacturing cost, and etc. To sustain the historical improvements, various innovations in CMOS materials and device structures have been researched and introduced. In parallel with those researches, various new nanoelectronic devices, so called "Beyond CMOS Devices," are actively being investigated and researched to supplement or possibly replace ultimately scaled conventional CMOS devices. While those nanoelectronic devices offer ultra-high density system integration, they are still in a premature stage having many critical issues such as high variations and deteriorated reliability. The practical realization of those promising technologies requires extensive researches from device to system architecture level. In this paper, the current researches and challenges on nanoelectronics are reviewed and critical tasks are summarized from device level to circuit design/CAD domain to better prepare for the forthcoming technologies.

  • Mobile devices such as Android devices are emerging as a convenient client computing device with mobility and context-sensing capability. However, the computing power and hardware resource of the devices are limited due to their small form-factor. Consequently, large-scaled applications could not be deployed on these devices. Nonetheless, if the large-scaled applications are deployed and executed on the devices, high performance of the applications cannot be guaranteed. To remedy the limitation in terms of performance, it is inevitable to let some heavy-weight functionality executed on the server side and let a client application invoke the functionality in the server. To realize this kind of mobile applications, we adopt well-defined architecture design principles; being thin-client, being layered with Model-View-Controller (MVC), and being balanced between client side and server side. By adopting the principles, we propose a unique, ideal and practical architecture for mobile applications, called balanced MVC architecture. By considering the principles, key design considerations of realizing balanced MVC architecture lie in functionality partitioning. Hence, we define key criteria of determining the degree of performance. And, we define a method to design a balanced MVC architecture which embodies functionality partitioning for high performance, and a simulation-based evaluation method of balanced MVC architectures.

  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that interconnects millions of small devices to enable communication between the devices. It is heavily deployed across small scale to large scale industries because of its wide range of applications. These devices are very capable of transferring data over the internet including critical data in few applications. Such data is exposed to various security threats and thereby raises privacy-related concerns. Even devices can be compromised by the attacker. Modern cryptographic algorithms running on traditional machines provide authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation in an easy manner. IoT devices have numerous constraints related to memory, storage, processors, operating systems and power. Researchers have proposed several hardware and software implementations for addressing security attacks in lightweight encryption mechanism. Several works have made on lightweight block ciphers for improving the confidentiality by means of providing security level against cryptanalysis techniques. With the advances in the cipher breaking techniques, it is important to increase the security level to much higher. This paper, focuses on securing the critical data that is being transmitted over the internet by PRESENT using key-based dynamic S-Box. Security analysis of the proposed algorithm against other lightweight block cipher shows a significant improvement against linear and differential attacks, biclique attack and avalanche effect. A novel key-based dynamic S-Box approach for PRESENT strongly withstands cryptanalytic attacks in the IoT Network.
