This study presents a new architecture for a field programmable analog array (FPAA) for use in low-frequency applications, and a generalized circuit realization method for the implementation of nth-order elliptic filters. The proposed designs of both the FPAA and elliptic filters are based on the operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) used in implementing OTA-C filters for biopotential signal processing. The proposed FPAA architecture has a flexible, expandable structure with direct connections between configurable analog blocks (CABs) that eliminates the use of switches. The generalized elliptic filter circuit realization provides a simplified, direct synthetic method for an OTA-C symmetric balanced structure for even/odd-nth-order low-pass filters (LPFs) and notch filters with minimum number of components, using grounded capacitors. The filters are mapped on the FPAA, and both architectures are validated with simulations in LTspice using 90-nm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Both proposed FPAA and filters generalized synthetic method achieve simple, flexible, low-power designs for implementation of biopotential signal processing systems.

In this paper, we have investigated pole-zero shifting due to variable stopband frequency Ws and passband ripple Ap of elliptic function filters. Also we have studied the phase, group-delay, unit step response and impulse response of elliptic filters. We show that in the passband the phase linearity improves as Ws increases, and eventually it approaches that of a chebyshev function filter.
A method for synthesizing low-pass elliptic filters in a microstrip configuration is presented. The realization consists of the cascade connection of proper rectangular elements, each one corresponding to four reactive elements of the lumped-constant prototype. This allows an effictive control of parasitics and unwanted reactances. Which results in the possibility of realizing higher order filters with cutoff frequencies UP to X-band. Fifth and seventh order filters were fabricated on allumina substrates.

The elliptic filters are optimal in the sense that the magnitude characteristic exhibits the steepest slope at the cutoff frequency. The other characteristics such as delay and step response, however, are rather undesirable. In this paper, the modified elliptic low-pass filter function is proposed. The modified elliptic function possesses progressively diminishing ripples in both passband and stopband, and the lower pole-Q, values when compared to the elliptic counterparts, thus producting the flatter delay characteristics and improved time-domain performances. And it is realizable in the doubley-terminated ladder structures for the order n even or odd, thus lending themselves amaenable to high-quality active RC or switched capacitor filters through the simulation techniques.

In this paper, elliptic function bandpass filters using ceramic coaxial resonators are designed. Since elliptic function filters have better performance of frequency selectivity than those based on Butterworth or Chebyshev, therefore it is possible to make better use of limited frequency resources. Elliptic function bandpass filters using ceramic coaxial resonators are designed for reducing it's size, weight, cost and for easy manufacturing and tuning. From measurements, an accurate resonator model is obtained and the coupling coefficient values are extracted. Based on these results, elliptic function bandpass filters are designed. The experimental results have shown that the 8th order elliptic function filter of 959 MHz center frequency with 28 MHz bandwidth using coaxial ceramic resonators have about more tan 17 dB return loss, 5 dB insertion loss, more than 20 dB attenuation at $f_c\pm$5 MHz.

In this paper, we studied on the design of elliptic digital filters using the bilinear z transformation method, and proposed a design procedure satisfying prescribed specifications. The magnitude characteristics of digital filters are compared with its of analog filiters by computer simulation. Finaly we considered the quantization effects of digital filters. In cascader realization of fixed-point digital filters under dynamic range constraints, the outpout noise for IIR digital filters depends on the pole-zero pairing and ordering of the second order sections. Therfore an optmization procedure to finding a good ordering and pairing is very desirable. Thus, we proposed a sub-optimization procedure for finding "near optimal" solution.

In this paper, we have studied on the IIR digital filters design using Elliptic functions. In process of transformation to digital fouctions from analos Elliptic functions, Bilinear z transformation method has been silized. Designing of digital filter using the Bilinear z transformation the problems of aliasing can be avoidedm whereas the frequency distrotion is generated. The transformation form analog function to digital function is not equal in the region of the cut off frequency response caused by this effect. Avoiding the problem of this effect, we have used proewarping method. Finally, the magnitude characteristics of digital filters are compared with its of analog filters by computer simulation. The results have shown that the magnitude characteristics of digital filters by the prewarping method have made more remarkable improvement than its of analog filters.

High order filters are usually realized by cascading second order stages. In this paper, a simple method of pole-zero pairing in the high order band-pass and band-reject filter realization of the elliptic functions is proposed for the enhancement of overall dynamic range. Futrhermore, the optimum sequence of the various biquads of high-pass notch, low-pass notch and symmetrical notch etc., is developed for the elliptic band-pass and band-reject filters.
In order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio in multi-component seismic data, we developed new polarization filters based on the method of multicomponent complex trace analysis. Unlike the previous polarization filters, the present filters separately compute linear and elliptic components at each time sample using amplitude ratio of horizontal and vertical components of body waves and ellipticity of Rayleigh waves. The polarization filters work ideally even with low S/N data. Application of the filters to both synthetic and real seismic data shows that Rayleigh waves of elliptic motions are effectively eliminated and both P and S waves of linear motions are well separated each other.

The elliptic functions have transmission zeros on the imaginary axis and exhibit equal ripples in the stopband as well as in the passband. As a consequence they can be made optimal in the sense that the transition band is minimal. However the time domain behaviors turned out to be inferior to those of Chebyshev and Butterworth responses. This paper investigates the unit step responses and impulse responses in order to analyze the effects of various parameters such as passband attenuation, stopband frequencies M. etc., The following are the prominent features. Step responses of elliptic filters rise faster and produce larger overshoots and undershoots with higher natural frequencies. In the case of even functions, the initial values are non-zero which decreases as $\omega$s increases. Unlike Butter-worth or Chebyshev cases the impulse responses start with nonzero valses which also decrease as $\omega$s or order of the function increases. Eight figures are included to illustrate above analysis.
