The purpose of this study is to develop a program that enables students to participate in various experiential learning places in order to provide various experiences to students for solve the problem of prejudice to specific places such as science museum, zoo and botanical garden. For this purpose, the surveys were conducted about experiential places and awareness of experiential learning. 88 elementary school teachers participated in the survey. As a result, they were positive about the use of experiential learning in elementary science instruction, but there were responses that a lot of preparations for the progress and efforts were needed. Therefore, if instructional materials and teaching materials for experiential learning are given, it is confirmed that the intention of using is increased. And the results were analyzed and the experiential sites were categorized into 12 types. We could present basic data that can diversify not only the science museum but also science related experiential places. We developed a learning program related to 'The Liquid and Gas' unit of the third grade, And 'Life unit of Plant' unit of the third $4^{th}$ grade. Through this study, we intend to help science experiential learning to be activated and student - centered experiential learning to be realized.
This study pursued to find out the degree to which educational objectives are pursued in the 3rd and 5th grade science instructional of an elementary school. Twenty science instruional hours are observed during two month from May to July, 1989. Klopfer's science educational objectives system is used as the tool of objective analysis. Questionnaires for the ideal proportions of the educational objectives are answered by the professors and elementary school teachers. The writers regarded those results as the ideal proportions of the educational objectives. Results from the analysis of the instruction are as follows : 1. Results from analysis of the instruction in the fifth grade are as follows: knowledge and comprehension(A. 0) objectives are found to be pursued. about 31%, scientific inquiry process (B. 0-E. 0) objectives. about 38%, application of scientific knowledge and methods (F. 0) objectives, about 13%, manual skills(G. 0) objectives, about 7%, scientific attitudes and interests(H. 0) objectives, about 10%. 3. Results from the ideal proportions are as follows : Knowledge and comprehension(A. 0) objectives, 20.5%, scientific inquiry process(B. 0-E. 0) objectives, 46.5%, application of scientific knowledge and methods(F. 0) objectives. 8%, manual skills(G. 0) objectives. 9.5%, scientific attitudes and interests (H. 0) objectives, 9% and orientation(I. 0) objectives, 6.5%. 4. "You ideality index" is 29 in the third grade and 23 in the fifth grade. Science instruction of the fifth grade can be interpreted to be nearer to the ideal instruction in terms of educational objectives.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the understanding of the sighting and hearing elementary school students have through drawing. For this purpose, we conducted a questionnaire survey of 602 elementary school students. The questionnaire was composed with open-ended question developed by West et al.(2008). This questionnaire was presented only appearance of face. And let them express the sensory pathway by drawing and writing. The students' responses for questionnaire were classified by 5 levels. Inner-researcher consistency was 0.89, inter-researcher consistency was 0.83. The data analyzed were ${\chi}^2$ by using SPSS. The result of this study were as following: First, elementary school students have misconception of sighting and hearing. There were no difference among the grade. In spite of becoming upper grade, students have still misconception. Second, scientific concept that male students have were significantly more than female. Third, the concepts of the anatomically organs are more exposed in real-life situations, students known better. Within these results, it would be used for developing teaching-learning strategies which can use misconceptions students have.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and differences of gesture between career teachers and novice teachers in elementary science class. In order to analyze the gesture of elementary science teachers, gesture analysis framework was developed. The teachers who participated in the experiment were 2 beginner teachers and 2 career teachers. We analyzed 'bones and muscles', 'digestion', 'breathing', and 'excretion' of 'body' section in the second semester of 5th grade. The video recording of the class scene with the camcorder was recorded and analyzed by Observer XT. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the career teacher lessens unnecessary gestures than the novice teacher. During the class, the career teachers lessened the gestures not related to the context of the class. These differences were more prominent in the activities of the group with many unexpected situations than those of the teachers who prepared the class contents. Second, career teachers have more communication control act than novice teachers. Career teachers have often made adjustments to induce learner presentations or control unnecessary utterances. Third, career teachers efficiently interacted with learners using gestures that can enhance communication.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of mind map activity on scientific attitude and science achievement in elementary school science. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade students selected from two classes in elementary school located in Seoul. The subjects were classified into two groups: One group is composed of thirty-eight students(experimental group) who were participated in mind map activity, and the other is composed of thirty-five students(control group) who were participated in traditional teaching situation. Pretest showed that there were no significant differences between experimental and control group in scientific attitude and science achievement. The results were as follows: First, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in the post-test science achievement compared to the control group. Second, the experimental group showed insignificant improvement in the post-test scientific attitude compared to the control group. Third, female students and mid-ranking group showed a significant improvement in the post-test science achievement. Fourth, in sex and academic ranking, experimental group did not show significant difference in the post-test scientific attitude. In conclusion, mind map activity was more effective than traditional teaching situation on science achievement. But mind map activity was less uneffective than traditional teaching situation on scientific attitude.
The purpose of this study was to verify the validity and reliability for the Test of Oral Reading and Comprehension Skill (Gardner, 2000) for Korean lower level elementary school children. Subjects were 122 first to third grade students, tested individually. The vocabulary and comprehension sub-tests of K-WISC III and the reading comprehension test of Basic Academic Skills Assessment (Kim, 2000) were used to verify concurrent validity. Internal reliability was determined by internal consistency coefficients. Results verified concurrent validity. Test scores differed significantly by grade level. Test reliability was also confirmed. In conclusion, the Oral Reading and Comprehension Skill Test (Gardner, 2000) is reliable and valid for examination of reading comprehension skills for Korean lower level elementary school children.
본 연구는 2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 현재의 초등 수학 교과서가 개발 당시에 기대했던 점들과 지금까지 수학 교과서에 제기되었던 주요 문제점들이 수업을 진행한 교사들의 입장에서, 얼마나 개선되었는지에 대하여 스토리텔링, 흥미도와 자신감, 수학적 과정, 학습 내용의 양과 적절성, 평가, 수학의 유용성과 외형의 7개 부문의 20개 문항으로 나누어 설문 조사를 하였다. 그 결과, 교사들의 전체적인 경향은 긍정적이었다. 구체적으로 외형, 스토리텔링, 수학 유용성은 상당히 긍정적이었고, 수학적 과정, 학습내용의 양과 적절성 부문은 긍정적이었다. 그러나 흥미도와 자신감 그리고 스스로 학습하기 부문은 큰 변화가 없어 그 원인 파악이 필요해 보였다. 이러한 연구 결과가 앞으로 새로운 수학과 교육과정에 따라 교과서 개발과정에서 개발방향이나 활용에 대한 효과의 제고를 위해 의미 있는 자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.
본 연구는 유치원 교육과정과 초등학교 수학과 교육과정의 개발에서 두 교육과정을 연계시키는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 시사점을 찾고자, 5세 누리과정과 이에 따른 교사용 지도서의 수학 지도 내용, 그리고 현행 초등학교 1학년 수학과 교육과정 및 그에 따른 교과서의 지도 내용 사이의 연계성을 분석한 것이다. 그 결과 다음의 여섯 가지 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 도형 영역의'공간적 관계'나 확률과 통계 영역의 '자료 수집'과 같이, 5세 누리과정에서 완성되고 있는 내용을 1학년 교육과정과 연계시킬 필요가 있다. 둘째, 5세 누리과정과 1학년 교육과정이 연계되지는 않지만, 2~6학년 교육과정이 연계되는 경우, 어느 한 교육과정을 기준으로 위계를 재조정할 필요가 있다. 셋째, $\ll$K-지도서$\gg$가 5세 누리과정을 준수하고 있는 지 검토할 필요가 있다. 넷째, $\ll$K-지도서$\gg$의 각 [활동]에서 5세 누리과정 관련 요소와 초등학교 교육과정 관련을 재검토할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, $\ll$K-지도서$\gg$의 각 [활동]에서 수학 지도 내용을 명시적이고 체계적으로 취급할 필요가 있다. 여섯째, 교육과정 개발에서 유아수학교육 전문가와 초등수학교육 전문가 사이의 협업 체제가 마련될 필요가 있다.
2007년 개정 교육과정의 초등학교 3, 4학년 수학 익힘책에는 학생들이 수학에 흥미를 느끼게 하고 학습한 내용과 관련된 이야기를 풀어보기 위하여 '이야기 마당'이 신설되었다. 본 논문은 초등학교 3학년 수학 익힘책에 제시된 이야기 마당의 활용 방안에 따른 내용을 분석하고 이에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다. 분석 결과, 이야기의 내용이 해당 단원의 학습 내용과 관련이 없는 경우, 학습자의 수준에서 이야기의 내용 또는 문제를 이해하기 어려운 경우, 학습자의 수준에서 이야기의 내용 또는 문제를 이해하기 어려운 경우, 제시된 문제가 해당 단원의 학습 내용과 관련되지 않은 경우가 나타났다.
The purpose of this study was to examine about effect for class of disadvantaged gifted student. For this, twenty-one item-questionnaires were giver to fifty three students at third graders in four elementary gifted schools located in Ulsan. The result of this study were as follows: First, the elementary school cognitive aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effectiveness, 3rd grade students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about help in learning, record enhancement, presentation skills, resources utilization, problem solving, study skills, creativity and confidence in learning in 77.3% of students answered that they had a positive influence Second, the elementary school affective aspects of disadvantaged gifted calss from the result of the effectiveness, 3rd students surveyed were all positive. Most of students about study habits, attitude, interest in studying, studying aspects related to the confidence and positive in 67.3% of students answered that they were affected. Third, the elementary school social and cultural aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effective, 3rd students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about teachers, students, parents, and efficient use of time for study 70.9% of students answered that they had a positive influence. Fourth, the elementary school private aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effective, 3rd grade students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about reliance on private tutoring classes, interest, record enhancement in 65.1% of students answered that they had a positive influence.
