  • Since the occlusal loading is transmitted to the surrounding bone, the success of an implant treatment is closely related to the distribution of the stress on the implant. The finite element analysis method is often used in order to produce a model for dispersion of stress. Assessment of the success of the implant is usually based on the degree of osseointegration which is a bone and implant surface interface. Implant used in this research was designed through the method of shape optimization after the stress on implant was anaylzed by the finite element analysis method. This study was pertinently assessed by a clinical, histologic, histomorphometric analysis after the shape optimized implant was installed on beagle dog tibia. The results are as follows 1. It clinically showed a good result without mobility and imflammatory reaction. 2. Implant was supported by dense bone and bone remodeling showed on the surrounding area of the implant 3. The average percentage of bone-implant contact was 58.1%.The percentage of bone density was 57.6%. Having above results, shape optimized implant showed the pertinence through clinical and histologic aspects. However, to use the shape optimized implant, the further experiment is required for finding problems, improvement.

  • D-raf, a Drosophila homolog of the human c-raf-1, is known as a signal transducer in cell proliferation and differentiation. A previous study found that the D-raf gene expression is regulated by the DNA replication-related element (DRE)/DRE-binding factor (DREF) system. In this study, we found the sequences homologous to transcription factor C/EBP, MyoD, STAT and Myc recognition sites in the D-raf promoter. We have generated various base substitutional mutations in these recognition sites and subsequently examined their effects on D-raf promoter activity through transient CAT assays in Kc cells with reporter plasmids p5'-878DrafCAT carrying the mutations in these binding sites. Through gel mobility shift assay using nuclear extracts of Kc cells, we detected factors binding to these recognition sites. Our results show that transcription factor C/EBP, STAT and Myc binding sites in D-raf promoter region play a positive role in transcriptional regulation of the D-raf gene and the Myo D binding site plays a negative role.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method of improving the location estimation error existing in RTLS (Real Time Location Service) system for the individual mobility. As ubiquitous age comes, interest for indoor location tracking system is getting more increased. However, existing indoor location tracking system does not correspond actively to frequent changes in indoor environment, and there is a problem that correct location measurement of moving object is difficult due to NLOS (non-line-of-sight) property of indoor environment. Purpose of this paper is to propose an environment accommodation location tracking system that improves the location precision of moving object and grasps location of the object effectively, which is essential an element effectively to provide service and satisfy various users' request.

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to develop a patient classification system for hemodialysis and to test its validity and reliability. Method : The process of the system development was as below. The lists of hemodialysis nursing activities were collected from literature and hemodialysis practice guideline and they were classified into 10 factors and 16 elements. And then, 4 classification levels were identified for each element. The content validity and interrater reliability of developed patient classification system were tested. Result & Conclusion : 10 factors of patient classification system for hemodialysis were consisted of psychosocial support, mobility, access, teaching, assessment, stability, supportive therapy, test, general nursing during hemodialysis, hemodialysis room management. According to validity and reliability results and experts' opinions, 4 classification levels revised to 3 classification levels and 2 elements were deleted. Finally, patient classification system were consisted of 10 factors, 14 elements, 3 classification levels, 3 categories.

  • The maternal transcription factor Dorsal (Dl) functions as both an activator and a repressor in a context-dependent manner to control dorsal-ventral patterning in the Drosophila embryo. Previous studies have suggested that Dl is an intrinsic activator and its repressive activity requires additional corepressors that bind corepressor-binding sites near Dl-binding sites. However, the molecular identities of the corepressors have yet to be identified. Here, we present evidence that Capicua (Cic) is involved in Dl-mediated repression in the zerkn$\ddot{u}$llt (zen) ventral repression element (VRE). Computational and genetic analyses indicate that a DNA-binding consensus sequence of Cic is highly analogous with previously identified corepressor-binding sequences and that Dl failed to repress zen expression in lateral regions of cic mutant embryos. Furthermore, electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) shows that Cic directly interacts with several corepressor-binding sites in the zen VRE. These results suggest that Cic may function as a corepressor by binding the VRE.

  • The heavy duty diesel engine must have a large output for maintaining excellent mobility. The compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a material currently under study for the engine demanded for high torque, durability, stiffness and fatigue. In this study, three dimensional finite element model of a heavy-duty diesel engine was developed to conduct the stress analysis by using property of CGI. The FE model of the heavy duty diesel engine section consisting with four half cylinder was selected. The heavy duty diesel engine section include cylinder block, cylinder head, liner, bearing cap, bearing and bolt. The loading conditions of engine are pre-fit load, assembly force and gas force.

  • On screening pathogen-resistant soybean, we identified a WRKY type transcription factor named a Glycine max WRKY1 (GmWRKY1). Expression of GmWRKY1 gene was induced in the soybean sprout by Pseudomonas infection. The GmWRKY1 was expressed in all of the tissues with high levels in stems, leaves and developing seeds. The protein Gm WRKY1 contains highly conserved two WRKY DNA-binding domains having two $C_2-H_2$ zinc-finger motif ($C-X_{4-5}-C-X_{22-23}-H-X-H$) in its N-terminal and C-terminal amino acid sequences. In electrophoresis mobility shift assay, the GmWRKY1 protein bound specifically to W-box elements in the promoters of defense related genes. These results demonstrated that GmWRKY1 is one of the soybean WRKY family genes and the plant-specific transcription factors for defense processes.

  • Measuring the bridge frequencies indirectly from an instrumented test vehicle is a potentially powerful technique for its mobility and economy, compared with the conventional direct technique that requires vibration sensors to be installed on the bridge. However, road surface roughness may pollute the vehicle spectrum and render the bridge frequencies unidentifiable. The objective of this paper is to study such an effect. First, a numerical simulation is conducted using the vehicle-bridge interaction element to demonstrate how the surface roughness affects the vehicle response. Then, an approximate theory in closed form is presented, for physically interpreting the role and range of influence of surface roughness on the identification of bridge frequencies. The latter is then expanded to include the action of an accompanying vehicle. Finally, measures are proposed for reducing the roughness effect, while enhancing the identifiability of bridge frequencies from the passing vehicle response.

  • This paper describes the procedure of kinmatic design of a quadruped walking machine which has better mobility and higher energy efficiency than the wheeled or tracked vehicles on the rough terrain. Specifically, this paper puts much emphasis on the procedure and its rationality of the design of the leg which is the key mechanical element of the walking robot. And it shows the appropriateness of the selected mechanism and the design method through the walking experiment of the prototype machine built upon the resulted design. The pantograph mechanisms are proved to be acceptable as the leg of the walking machine from the experiment even though it is indicated that the walking speed and the body deflection should be improved further. This paper also describes the problems of the realization of the gait the frictional effects along with their causes in the walking experiment.

  • The mechanical floating-mass which is analogous to an electrical floating- capacitance may not come across because a mass element in a mechanical network must be attracted to rho ground which is the reference point. In this study the mechanical floating-mass is fonstructed by employing two simple support levers, one link, one mass, and four frictionless hearings. It also shows that the mechanical device can be used to give various equivalent masses by altering the arm ratio of the levers.
