  • This paper discuss the chemical, physical and mineral properties of classified fly ashes by electrostatic precipitator and calcinated fly ashes at 50$0^{\circ}C$. The electrostatic precipitator in coal fired power plant has a number of hopper in the direction of flue gases. The properties of fly ashes collected at each hopper in the electrostatic precipitator are different. Superfine, fine and ordinary fly ashes can be collected respectively at each hopper. The carbon content in fly ash is influenced on the viscosity of paste. By calcination, the carbon content in fly ash is decreased and the fluidity of paste is improved.

오일러리안 수치해석법을 이용한 전기집진기의 집진효율 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prediction of Collection Efficiency of Electrostatic Precipitator Using Eulerian Numerical Analysis)

  • The transport of charged particles in electrostatic precipitator is investigated by Eulerian numerical analysis. Collection efficiencies are calculated using various combinations of the assumptions about flow field, turbulent diffusivity and boundary condition at collecting electrode. The characteristics of calculated collection efficiencies are compared with the trends of published experimental results. It is found that the collection efficiency for the case using nonuniform turbulent flow field, nonuniform turbulent diffusivity and zero concentration boundary condition at collecting electrode is the most suitable for the prediction of collection efficiency of electrostatic precipitator.

  • This article presents computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of nanoparticle movements and flow characteristics in laboratory-scale electrostatic precipitator (ESP) without corona discharge, and for simulation, it uses the commercial CFD program(CFD-ACE) including electrostatic theory and Lagrangian-based equation for nanoparticle movement. For validation of CFD results, a simple cylindrical type of ESP is simulated and numerical prediction shows fairly good agreement with the analytical solution. In particular, the present study investigates the effect of particle diameter, inlet flow rate, and applied electric potential on particle collection efficiency and compares the numerical prediction with the experimental data, showing good agreement. It is found that the particle collection efficiency decreases with increasing inlet flow rate because the particle detention time becomes shorter, whereas it decreases with the increase in nanoparticle diameter and with the decrease of applied electric voltage resulting from smaller terminal electrostatic velocity.

전기 집진기의 집진 효율 향상에 관한 연구 (The Improvement of Collection Efficiency of Electrostatic Precipitator)

  • This paper demonstrates the effects of dust electrical resistivity on electrostatic precipitability. The effects of gas temperature, velocity and humidity on the collection efficency were considered by used of coal fly ashes from fluidized bed combustion boiler. The experiments for collection efficiency were carried out in the pilot plant. The ashes which have non-spherical geometry and high electrical resistivity were used. Electrical resistivity is an important property for the collection efficiency in the electrostatic precipitators. Fly ash resistivity as a function of temperature up $350{\circ}C$ and water concentration(up to 15%) has been experimentally investigated using the resistivity test equipment consisted of the movable electrode, dust cup, and furnace. As the resistivity of fly ash in the operating temperature($150{\circ}C$) of an electrostatic precipitator was measured higher than $1010{\Omega}{\cdot}$cm, flue gas conditioning in the electrostatic precipitator to reduce the resistivity of fly ash is required.

  • 도시철도의 대기 중의 오염 물질을 정화하여 공기 질을 개선하기 위해 사용되는 전기 집집기시스템은 터널 내의 제한된 공간내의 설치문제로 인해 소형화가 매우 중요하다. 따라서, 집진 시스템의 탈진 설비 또한 소형화가 매우 중요한 실정이다. 이를 위해, 고효율 소형 전자기 진동 가진기를 이용한 전기 집진기 탈진 설비가 최근 활발히 연구 중에 있다. 유한요소해석은 전자기 진동 가진기의 설계 및 동적성능을 해석을 위해서 가장 널리 이용되고 있는 방법이지만, 해석 시간이 매우 길고, 특히 최적화를 위한 반복 계산에서 많은 시간을 소비한다. 집중매개변수해석은 짧은 시간에 정확하게 반복 계산을 할 수 있는 장점 때문에 유한 요소해석을 대신하여 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전기 집진기의 진동 탈진을 위한 전자기 진동 가진기의 집중매개변수 모델링을 생성하고 이를 통해 동적 해석을 수행하였다. 또한, 집중매개 변수 해석 결과를 검증하기 위해 유한요소해석을 수행하고 두 해석 결과를 비교 분석하였다.

전기집진기 내부의 유동 균일성 향상을 위한 가이드 배인의 최적설계 (Design of a Guide Vane for Improving Inside Flow Uniformity of Electrostatic Precipitator)

  • In recent years, many efforts are increasingly being made to conserve the natural environment with enhanced emission standards and air quality standards. Also there are various methods necessary to be researched to minimize the emission of air pollutants. In particular, boilers of industrial facilities are major portions of the air pollution. The front duct which needs to be designed to reduce the gases to the electrostatic precipitator requires a bent tube, a reduction/extend tube and an auxiliary equipment, that is, a guide vane. This paper proposes an optimum design of the guide vane by a case study for electrostatic precipitator's flow uniformity. The operating conditions of this study are as follows: BMCR (Boiler Maximum Continuous Rate) and MGR (Maximum Guaranteed Rate) are 75%, 50%, and 30%; turbulent fluid dynamics model is based upon K-${\varepsilon}$ formulation. Presentation of the computed motion of particles is found to be quite useful to predict the precipitator performance by use CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).

  • Recent studies have been directed toward obtaining a better understanding of the application of electrostatic precipitators to collect fly ash particles produced in a coal-fired power plant. Electrical resistivity can be described as the resistance of the collected dust layer to the flow of electrical current and is an important property for the collection efficiency in the electrostatic precipitator. In this paper, fly ash resistivity as a function of temperature up to $450^{\circ}C$ has been experimentally investigated using the resistivity meter consisted of the movable electrode, dust cup, and furnace. Resistivity was found to increase with increased temperature up to $200^{\circ}C$ due to the reduction of water concentration and then gradually decrease with increased temperature due to the activation of electrons. As the resistivity of fly ash in the flue gas temperature of $150^{\circ}C$ was measured >$10^{10}$ ohm cm, the efficiency of fly ash removal in the electrostatic precipitator might be expected to be low due to back-corona phenomenon. Flue gas conditioning in the electrostatic precipitator to reduce the resistivity of fly ash as required.

광폭 전기집진기의 집진 특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Collection Characteristics of a Wide Plate-Spacing Electrostatic Precipitator)

  • The electrical characteristics and particle collection efficiency of a wide-plate spacing electrostatic precipitator are numerically investigated, and the results are compared with those obtained experimentally. The electric potential and field strength near the collection plate increase with increasing the plate spacing. The electric field strength of a discharge electrode of a twisted pin type is larger than that of a rectangular type. As the roughness factor of the discharge electrode wire becomes small, or the plate spacing becomes narrow, the corona current of the precipitator increases. The numerical results agree well with those obtained from experimental method.

타공판에 따른 전기집진기 내의 유동분포 (Flow Distribution in an Electrostatic Precipitator with a Perforated Plate)

  • 각종 산업시설과 발전시설에서 배출되는 입자상 물질의 문제로 인하여, 입자상 물질의 제거 효율이 뛰어난 전기집진기의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 전기집진기의 효율은 전기집진기 내부의 유동분포에 매우 큰 영향을 받으므로, 전기집진기 내부의 유동 균일화를 위한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유입부, 디퓨저, 본체, 수축부로 구성된 길이 3.5 m, 높이 0.875 m 전기집진기를 제작하였다. 디퓨저에는 3개의 타공판을 설치하였다. 5개의 피토관을 높이 방향으로 부착하여 전기집진기 단면 55지점의 유속을 측정하였다. 디퓨저에 타공판이 설치되었을 때, 전기집진기 내부의 유동분포는 RMS%를 이용하여 평가하였다. 또한 타공판의 타공률 변화에 따른 유속분포도 분석하였다. 그 결과, 타공판이 전기집진기 내부의 유동분포에 미치는 영향이 매우 큼을 확인하였고, 디퓨저 입구에서부터 40%, 50%, 50% 타공률을 가진 타공판을 설치하였을 때, 가장 균일한 유동분포를 나타내었다.
