Formant Detection Technique for the Phonocardiogram Spectra Using the 1st and 2nd Derivatives (심음도 스펙트럼의 1, 2차 도함수를 이용한 형성음 주파수 추출 기술)

  • This study describes a new method to analyze phonocardiogram acquired from electronic stethoscope. The method uses the formant frequencies of linear prediction spectrum of the phonocardiogram and proposes a novel method for formant detection using the smoothing and the first and second derivatives. For this, stethoscope sounds are acquired in university hospital. The stethoscope signals are preprocessed and analyzed by the Burg algorithm, a kind of linear prediction analysis. Based on the linear prediction spectra, the formant frequencies are estimated. The proposed method has shown better performance in formant frequency detection than the conventional peak picking method.

  • This study is using electronic-delay system detonator which can input an accurate detonating delay, compare predicted blasting vibration level derived from vibration 3D modelling with real measured blasting vibrations, and then considered modelling results are able to apply blast design. It confirmed there are certain relations between modelling and real vibration data, so modelling prediction method also can be apply design various blast conditions and prediction equation of blast vibration.

A Study on the Prediction of the Nonlinear Chaotic Time Series Using a Self-Recurrent Wavelet Neural Network (자기 회귀 웨이블릿 신경 회로망을 이용한 비선형 혼돈 시계열의 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Unlike the wavelet neural network, since a mother wavelet layer of the self-recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN) is composed of self-feedback neurons, it has the ability to store past information of the wavelet. Therefore we propose the prediction method for the nonlinear chaotic time series model using a SRWNN. The SRWNN model is learned for the modeling of a function such that the inputs arc known values of the time series and the output is the value in the future. The parameters of the network are tuned to minimize the difference between the nonlinear mapping of the chaotic time series and the output of SRWNN using the gradient-descent method for the adaptive backpropagation algorithm. Through the computer simulations, we demonstrate the feasibility and the effectiveness of our method for the prediction of the logistic map and the Mackey-Glass delay-differential equation as a nonlinear chaotic time series.

The Prediction of the Results of Drop Test Through Shock Analysis (충격해석을 통한 결과의 예측)

  • Electronic products can be subjected to many different forms of shock. These shocks are usually experienced during transporting the electronic products from a manufacturer to customers. Drop tests are performed to test the product fragility before shipment. Package cushioning materials are often used to protect electronic products from severs shock environments. In the present paper, an algorithm to predict the shock responses of the main mechanical parts is developed by use of the shock analysis in which the modal parameters extracted from vibration test are used. These results are in good agreement with the results of drop test. By use of the shock response prediction algorithm developed herein, it is possible to predict the results of drop test at various drop directions and also to select the optimal package cushioning materials.

  • This paper presents an inter-prediction technique using deep learning, where a virtual reference frame of the current frame is synthesized by using the reconstructed frames to improve coding efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides 1.9% BD-rate reduction on average as compared to HEVC reference software in the Random Access condition.

  • Before an aircraft is delivered to customers, manufacturers have to verify required reliability for the aircraft. In usual, reliability of electronic equipments in military aircraft are predicted based on MIL-HDBK-217. But the specification has not been revised since 1995. Some alternatives including SR-332 and 217PLUS are suggested in this study. The processes and methods specified in MIL-HDBK-217 are compared with those of SR-332. Additionally, the predicted reliability of aircraft electronic equipment between usage data and field data are investigated using MIL-HDBK-217. The results show that predicted reliability of MIL-HDBK-217 is more conservative (underestimated) than that of usage data and field data.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast partial distortion algorithm using normalized dithering matching scan to get uniform distribution of partial distortion which can reduce only unnecessary computation significantly. Our algorithm is based on normalized dithering order matching scan and calibration of threshold error using LOG value for each sub-block continuously for efficient elimination of unlike candidate blocks while keeping the same prediction quality compared with the full search algorithm. Our algorithm reduces about 60% of computations for block matching error compared with conventional PDE (partial distortion elimination) algorithm without any prediction quality, and our algorithm will be useful to real-time video coding applications using MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-2.

  • In this paper, we proposed a fast algorithm for inter prediction included the most complexity in H.264/AVC. It decide search range according to direction of predicted motion vector, and then perform adaptive candidate spiral search. Simultaneously, it perform motion estimation of variable loop with threshold for variable block size. Conclusively, it is implemented in JM FME with high complexity applying to rate-distortion optimization. Experimental results show that significant complexity reduction is achieved while the degradation in video quality is negligible.

  • Product reliability plays a significantly important role these days. This study has been performed to examine the widely being used specifications, MIL-HDBK-217 and SR-332 for electronic parts. We specifically selected an electronic ballast of the low wattage fluorescent lamp for the study. We briefly reviewed the reliability specifications with the basic concepts of the ballast. We then valuated failure rates of the parts using MIL-HDBK-217 and SR-332 specifications. Since the quality and environment factor values are subjectively determined for failure rate evaluations, we excluded them for comparison.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel intra-prediction method using convolutional neural network (CNN) to improve a quality of a predicted block in VVC. The proposed algorithm goes through a two-step procedure. First, an input prediction block is generated using one of the VVC intra-prediction modes. Second, the prediction block is further refined through a CNN model, by inputting the prediction block itself and reconstructed reference samples in the boundary. The proposed algorithm outputs a refined block to reduce residual signals and enhance coding efficiency, which is enabled by a CU-level flag. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves improved rate-distortion performance as compared a VVC reference software, I.e., VTM version 10.0.
