Assessment and rehabilitation of patients with unilateral visual neglect has been one of the fields that require assistive technology. Paper-and-pencil tests, including the LBT (Line Bisection Test), have been one of the most commonly used visual neglect assessment methods used in a clinical setting. The key motivation of this study was to establish a computer-based real-time assessment system for the hemi-neglect patients without altering the conventional paper-and-pencil based user tools. A digital penbased assessment and rehabilitation system, the ePen System, could eliminate the manual assessment time while maintaining measurement accuracy. As a result, the proposed system may assist rehabilitation specialists to assess and diagnose patients with unilateral visual neglect. This system can be applied to a range assessment and rehabilitation modalities based on a pen and paper. It can also be applied to various patients such as those with Parkinson's disease, stroke sufferers, or those who have experienced different forms of brain lesions.

The use of Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID) in medical context enables not only drug identification, but also a rapid and precise identification of patients, physicians, nurses or any other health care related staffs. The combination of RFID tag identification with structured and secured Internet of Things (IoT) solutions enables ubiquitous and easy access to medical related records, while providing control and security to all interactions. This paper surveyed a basic security architecture, easily deployable on mobile platforms, which would allow to establish and manage a medication prescription service in mobility context making use of electronic personal health records.
Effective communicable disease surveillance systems are the basis of the national disease prevention and control. Following the increase in emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases since late 1990s, the Korean government has strived to enhance surveillance and response system. Since 2000, sentinel surveillance, such as influenza sentinel surveillance, pediatric sentinel surveillance, school-based sentinel surveillance and ophthalmological sentinel surveillance, was introduced to improve the surveillance activities. Electronic reporting system was developed in 2000, enabling the establishment of national database of reported cases. Disweb, a portal for sharing communicable disease information with the public and health care workers, was developed. In general, the survey results on usefulness and attributes of the system, such as simplicity, flexibility, acceptability, sensitivity, timeliness, and representa-tiveness, received relatively high recognition. Compared to the number of paid cases of national health insurance, reported cases by national notifiable disease surveillance system, and various sentinel surveillance system, the result of the correlation analysis was high. According to the research project conducted by KCDC, the reporting rate of physicians in 2004 has also greatly improved, compared with that in 1990s. However, continuous efforts are needed to further improve the communicable disease surveillance system. Awareness of physicians on communicable disease surveillance system must be improved by conducting education and information campaigns on a continuous basis. We should also devise means for efficient use of various administrative data including cause of death statistics and health insurance. In addition, efficiency of the system must be improved by linking data from various surveillance system.

This study, based on the assumption that self-rated health status affects the use of health care utilization, aims to comprehend self-rated health status, as well as the differences in medical facility use depending on self-rated health status, and analyze according to chronic diseases to use it as the basis of a practical guide development for chronic disease patients' use of medical facilities. Used representative Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing data to analyze 7,486 participants. There is a difference in Chronic disease patients' use of health care utilization depending on self-rated health, and this difference was the most apparent in Oriental healthcare service and dental treatment use. This study was unable to control all confounding variables affecting medical service use, so we want this studied to be used to assist future studies.

The power consumption of wearable sensors and electrocardiogram regulators should be very low to extend the network lifetime and anticipated QoS( : Quality of Service) control such as error correction and authentication of data processed by WBAN( : Wireless Body Area Network) nodes is important. Therefore, QoS control is the most urgent concern to implement WBAN in health monitoring regulations. For optimal QoS control, we compare the energy efficiency and the average number of transmissions with IEEE 802.15.6 and the error correction method considering energy efficiency. The performance of the proposed error correction technique shows that the energy efficiency and the transmission rate are improved by adjusting the coding rate appropriately using the channel estimation.

Recently, the health issues triggered by fine dust matters occurred in higher frequency. Having adverse effects on health, particulate matters affect the human body indoors as well as outdoors. There is thus a need for a system to measure the concentration of particulate matters and control harmful particulate matters for human health in the indoor spaces where people live. The present study applied Internet of Things(IoT) technologies in order to increase the efficiency of the conventional fine dust measurement system. Especially, for the bidirectional communication environment, directly construct a separate server and applied to the system instead of a free cloud server also we used it directly in the school lab and home. When the proposed system is used in schools and homes, it can recognize the indoor environment quickly and it is expected that this will gradually contribute to the health of the individual. Users can also check the server data outside and deal with the current indoor situations.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and characteristics of health care programs for pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Korea. Methods: This study was conducted according to the Cochrane Collaboration's systematic literature review handbook and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses reporting guideline. We searched eight international and domestic electronic databases for relevant studies. Two reviewers independently selected the studies and extracted data. For each study, information on the research method, participants, characteristics of the program, and results were extracted using a previously established coding table. The National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency's risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized studies was used to assess the risk of bias of the included articles. A qualitative review of the selected studies was performed because the interventions differed considerably and the measured outcomes varied. Results: Out of 128 initially identified papers, seven were included in the final analysis. The risk of bias was evaluated as generally low. Health care programs for pregnant women with GDM showed positive effects on blood glucose control. Anxiety and depression were reduced, and self-management and self-care behavior, self-efficacy, and maternal identity improved. Conclusion: Our study provides clinical evidence for the effectiveness of health care programs for pregnant women with GDM, and its results can be used to support the development of health care programs for GDM. More well-designed research is needed on GDM, especially studies that deal with emotional stress and apply a family-oriented approach.
Urine analysis is one of the most important medical examination in the hospital. Not only the data for the ingredients of urine through chemical analysis, but also the data related to fluid dynamics, e.g., peak flow rate, average flow rate, may provide some useful information about patient's state of health. Therefore, we develop the portable system to measure and analyse fluid volume/flow rate in this study. This system can store and print the measured data during the pre-specified time interval, and provide some meaningful data related with fluid dynamics. We explain the method and the technical stuff to implement the system, and show the result.
Ensuring the security of medical records is becoming an increasingly important problem as modern technology is integrated into existing medical services. As a consequence of the adoption of EMR(Electronic Medical Records) in the health care sector, it is becoming more and more common for a health professional to edit and view a patient's record. In order to protect the patient's privacy, a secure authentication model to access the electronic medical records system must be used. A traditional identity based digital certificate for the authenticity of EMR has private key management and key escrow of a user's private key. In order to protect the EMR, The traditional authentication system is based on the digital certificate. The identity based digital certificate has many disadvantages, for example, the private key can be forgotten or stolen, and can be easily escrow of the private key. Nowadays, authentication model using fingerprint recognition technology for EMR has become more prevalent because of the advantages over digital certificate -based authentication model. Because identity-based fingerprint recognition can eliminate disadvantages of identity-based digital certificate, the proposed authentication model provide high security for access control in EMR.

In this paper, a parallel deep learning model using a convolutional neural network and a dilated convolutional neural network is proposed to classify Alzheimer's disease with high accuracy in PET/CT images. The developed model consists of two pipelines, a conventional CNN pipeline, and a dilated convolution pipeline. An input image is sent through both pipelines, and at the end of both pipelines, extracted features are concatenated and used for classifying Alzheimer's disease. Complimentary abilities of both networks provide better overall accuracy than single conventional CNNs in the dataset. Moreover, instead of performing binary classification, the proposed model performs three-class classification being Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, and normal control. Using the data received from Dong-a University, the model performs classification detecting Alzheimer's disease with an accuracy of up to 95.51%.
