  • This study is to demonstrate the superiority and stability of the solar - wind power hybrid power generation system for street lamps using super capacitor EDLC(:Electric Double Layer Capacitor). It is aiming to apply the lighting device using LED light source as the load of solar-wind power hybrid power generation system for independent power source and to develop the street light system device with high output power generation system. Unlike conventional controllers, EDLC, which is used as an auxiliary device for storing the developed power in the battery, can guarantee the high output and long life of the battery.

  • This paper addresses the establishment of a kVA-range plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle (PHEV) integration test platform and associated issues. Advancements in battery and power electronic technology, hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly dependent on the electrical energy provided by the batteries. Minimal or no support by the internal combustion engine may result in the vehicle being occasionally unable to recharge the batteries during highly dynamic driving that occurs in urban areas. The inability to sustain its own energy source creates a situation where the vehicle must connect to the electrical grid in order to recharge its batteries. The effects of a large penetration of electric vehicles connected into the grid are still relatively unknown. This paper presents a novel methodology that will be utilized to study the effects of PHEV charging at the sub-transmission level. The proposed test platform utilizes the power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) concept in conjunction with high-fidelity PHEV energy system simulation models. The battery, in particular, is simulated utilizing a real-time digital simulator ($RTDS^{TM}$) which generates appropriate control commands to a power electronics-based voltage amplifier that interfaces via a LC-LC-type filter to a power grid. In addition, the PHEV impact is evaluated via another power electronic converter controlled through $dSPACE^{TM}$, a rapid control systems prototyping software.

  • A new concept based on sample current measurements for detecting of via-hole defects on wafer has been performed by low energy electron beam microcolumn. The microcolumn has been operated at a low voltage of 290 eV with total emission current of 400 nA, and a sample current of 6 nA. The test sample was fabricated with SiO2 layer of 300 nm thickness on a piece of a silicon substrate. Preliminary results of both sample current method and secondary electron method show microcolumn and its control can be useful technology for detecting of via-hole defects on wafer.

  • In this paper, we designed the stack monitoring system with improved performance. To block the incoming pulse noise to the amplifier, shield and the power supply impedance are reduced and the power circuit is isolated. The control unit is developed with variable high voltage, adaptive gain, offset and threshold in order to match the scintillation detector characteristic to the apparatus. 300-1500V variable high voltage power circuit is configured applicable to various scintillation detector. Stack monitoring system with improved performance guarantee the efficiency and the reliability by considering the characteristic of various scintillation detector. Developed stack monitoring system is evaluated with certified testing equipment and shows excellent performance with respect to the uncertainty of the sensor test results.

  • Based on the topology of the direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous wind power grid-connected system based on the power electronics full-power converter, the wind turbine model and the grid-side inverter model were studied, and the machine-side rectifier control based on current and speed double closed loops was designed. strategy, as well as a grid-side inverter control strategy based on current and voltage double closed loops, implementing a two-level back-to-back double closed-loop full control strategy. A system simulation model was built using Matlab/Simulink, and the operation of the unit was simulated when the wind speed changed step by step. The grid-connected current with the same phase and good sinusoidal nature of the grid voltage was output. The grid-connected system ran stably and efficiently. The simulation results The validity and rationality of the model, as well as the correctness and feasibility of the control strategy were verified.

  • The conventional block systems for railway signaling currently in operation in Korea have not been electrified or integrated and therefore there have been difficulties in terms of construction and maintenance. Two independent systems have been installed for ABS and LEU of ATP system (for speeded-up lines), although they deal with the same signaling information at the same location in order to control the trains. In these conventional ABS and LEU, a number of duplicate modules are installed in each device including lamp detection units and power supply units and it results increased manufacturing costs and maintenance efforts. This paper deals with the prototype development of integrated electronic block system with CPU-based digital control methods in order to overcome the limitations of the conventional ABS. The suggested system is the integration of the conventional ABS with LEU of ATP and it is also applicable for the non-ATP sections as well.

  • As the vehicle electronic control technology quickly grows and becomes more sophisticated, a more efficient means than the traditional in-vehicle driving test is required for the design, testing, and tuning of electronic control units (ECU). For this purpose, the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) scheme is very promising, since significant portions of actual driving test procedures can be replaced by HIL simulation. The HILS incorporates hardware components in the numerical simulation environment, and this yields results with better credibility than pure numerical simulations can offer. In this study, a HILS system has been developed for ESP (Electronic Stability Program) ECUs. The system consists of the hardware component, which that includes the hydraulic brake mechanism and an ESP ECU, the software component, which virtually implements vehicle dynamics with visualization, and the interface component, which links these two parts together. The validity of HIL simulation is largely contingent upon the accuracy of the vehicle model. To account for this, the HILS system in this research used the commercial software CarSim to generate a detailed full vehicle model, and its parameters were set by using design data, SPMD (Suspension Parameter Measurement Device) data, and data from actual vehicle tests. Using the developed HILS system, performance of a commercial ESP ECU was evaluated for a virtual vehicle under various driving conditions. This HILS system, with its reliability, will be used in various applications that include durability testing, benchmarking and comparison of commercial ECUs, and detection of fault and malfunction of ESP ECUs.

  • Nano structure $Bi_2Te_3$ films were deposited on (100) GaAs substrates using a modified MOCVD system and the effect of growth parameters on the structural properties were investigated. Different from conventional MOCVD systems, our reactor consist of pressure control unit and two heating zones ; one for formation of nano-sized particles and the other for the growth of nano particles on substrates. By using this instrument we successfully grow $Bi_2Te_3$ films with nano-grain size. The film grown at high reactor pressure has large grain size. On the contrast, the grain size decreases with a decrease in pressure of the reactor. Here, we introduce new growth methods of nano-grain structured $Bi_2Te_3$ films for high thermoelectric figure of merit.

  • A high-capacity battery installed in a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle is used to power, or as a power supply for, electric sub-assemblies. In order to use a high-capacity battery as a power supply for electric sub-assemblies, such as an electronic control unit or for lighting, radio, and navigation, there is a need for a DC converter that changes a high voltage of 240-400V to a low voltage of 12-14V, which is done with a low-voltage DC-DC converter (LDC). An LDC undergoes long-term aging so as to reduce latent defects in the production process. With regard to the usual aging method, an LDC is a DC-DC converter. So, a DC power supply is connected and used as input, and a programmable DC electronic load is the output. For stable operation, a product having a larger capacity by 10% (compared to an LDC) is used, and has a structure where electric power is dissipated into 100% heat. So, there is a problem with volume, based on the use of two pieces of equipment to test the LDC, and another problem based on the generation of heat in the programmable DC electronic load. Hence, this paper suggests a load test method as a way of recycling, where a significant portion of the electricity dissipated as heat in a load tester is returned as input. The method realizes savings of 80% or more in the electricity dissipated as heat through improvement in the efficiency of the recycling load tester.
