When a metal sprayed film of several hundred ㎛ on the concrete surface is possible to 80 dB of shielding effect electromagnetic waves (ElectroMagnetic Pulse, EMP). Therefore, in this study, as a way to secure EMP shielding performance by applying a metal spray coating showing excellent EMP shielding performance to a concrete structure, the metal spray welding efficiency and thin film adhesion performance according to the concrete spray direction and surface treatment method were evaluated. Metal sprayed efficieny according to the metal spraying direction and method was confirmed that the difference was insignificant by applying the roughening agent. However, the method of strengthening the concrete surface and applying the sealing agent show maximum adhesion strength of 3.98 MPa compared to other methods, and it is judged that this method can be utilized for the metal spraying method for concrete EMP shielding.
Clamp type transferring mechanism for package substrate's wet processes was newly developed instead of conventional roller type transferring mechanism. Clamp type transferring mechanism has the advantages of reducing the panel deflection and of minimizing the contact problem between the panel and the transferring mechanism. Individual clamp of the mechanism has two distinct mechanical functions which are perfectly fixing a panel during the transferring and generating adequate tension for the panel. To determine the mechanical parameters of the clamp, panel deflection simulation was conducted and the result was verified by the panel deflection measurement. Also, fixing angle of a clamp could be determined by the free body force analysis of individual clamp. Finally clamp type transferring mechanism was actually manufactured and the transferring performance was verified during the water spraying condition of the package substrate's wet processes.
In this study, we used the ESD method to prepare the protein microarrays for observation the stem cell responses to pattern size, space and shapes. The ESD method allows a reduction in spot size, high efficiency of substance transfer, and high rate in fabrication as a result of ability to simultaneously deposit thousands of identical spots. Typical electro spraying conditions for the deposition of proteins were a voltage of $3{\sim}5keV$ and the humidity under 30%. The patterns of masks have a variety of shapes, spaces, and hole sizes from 10 um to $300{\mu}m$. Three kinds of proteins(collagen, fibronectin, and vitronectin dissolved in PBS) are deposited in a dry state, preserving the functional activity of proteins. Stem cells were cultured on each protein patterned sample at $37^{\circ}C$ for 1day.
The miniature fuel cells have emerged as a promising power source for applications such as cellular phones, small digital devices, and autonomous sensors to embedded monitors or to micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) devices. Several chemicals run candidate at a fuel in those systems, such as hydrogen. methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, and di-methyl ether (DME). Among them, hydrogen shows most efficient fuel performance. However, there are some difficulties in practical application for portable power sources. Therefore, more recently, there have been many efforts for development of micro-reformer to operate highly efficient micro fuel cells with liquid fuels such as methanol, ethanol, and DME In our experiments, we have integrated a micro-fuel processor system using low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) materials. Our integrated micro-fuel processor system is containing embedded heaters, cavities, and 3D structures of micro- channels within LTCC layers for embedding catalysts (cf. Figs. 1 and 2). In the micro-channels of LTCC, we have loaded $CuO/ZnO/Al_2O_3$ catalysts using several different coating methods such as powder packing or spraying, dipping, and washing of catalyst slurry.
Understanding of the impinging behavior of an electrically charged spray is essential in determining appropriate operating conditions for electro-spraying of paints, surface coating materials and insecticides. In the present work, as an initial step, the wall impact of an electrically charged droplet has been experimentally investigated. The charged drops were directed on the surface of a paraffin wax, and the impinging behavior was visualized and recorded using a CCD camera to identify the impingement regime. The spread-rebound boundary for the charged drop turned out to be smaller compared to that for an electrically neutral droplet under the same surface condition. The shift of the transition criterion is considered to be due to the discrepancy between the maximum spread ratio of the electrically charged droplet and that of the neutral droplet.
The method for spraying of liquid through an electrical filed has become a printing method since it can make very small droplet. To increase the reliability using the electro-hydrodynamic (EHD) jet printing, the jetting status needs to be monitored. Vision measurement techniques using high speed camera has been used to visualize the jet images. However, it requires image processing of a lot of images after image acquisitions. So, it is difficult to understand jet behavior such as jetting frequency, jet repeatability etc. In this work, a low cost electrical current measurement method was developed to measure electrical current from EHD jet printing. To verify the jetting monitoring capability of developed circuit, images from high speed camera were processed for comparison purpose.
The metal spray method, one of the surface anti-corrosion methods to prevent the corrosion of the steel material, does little effects on the material, while it can be used on a wider surface. However, metal spraying is used only in a limited environment, and research on the case of using with concrete is lacking. The purpose of this study was to observe the corrosion behavior of steels with metal spray coatings in concrete using electrochemical methods And to evaluate the performance of the method according to the type of metal used in the metal spray. As a result, the Al metal spray coating showed the best performance, because Aluminum is oxidized in the cement mortar and forms alumina oxide film.
Understanding of the impinging behavior of an electrically charged spray is essential in determining appropriate operating conditions for electro-spraying of paints, surface coating materials and insecticides. In the present work, the wall impact behavior of an electrically charged drop has been investigated and compared with that of a neutral drop experimentally. The critical Sommerfeld number representing the spread-splash boundary for the charged drop impacting on the dielectric substrate turned out to be larger compared to that for the neutral drop with the same surface condition. The change of the transition boundary is due to the increase in the surface wettability of the drop on the substrate. However, with the electrically conducting substrates, the charging effect on the transition boundary appeared negligible. This is because the electric discharging time is much shorter than the time required for the flattened drop to reach its maximum extent.
In this study, sheathless electrospray from PDMS/glass microchips with conducting metal emitter tip is described. A chip-based capillary electrophoresis/mass spectrometry (CE/MS) system has advantages of the CE separation and on-line electrospray detection of peptide solution. We have fabricated a new electrospray ionization(ESI) device composed of the metal emitter tip and CE separation channel monolithically in a glass microchip. The separation channel and metal emitter tip are fabricated using a glass wet etching and gold electro plating process, respectively. The fabricated micro electrospray chip was tested by spraying peptide sample for mass spectrometric analysis. Singlely-charged peak and doublely-charged peak of peptide were detected and further MS/MS fragmentation was performed in each peak. Direct comparisons with conventional glass or fused silica emitters showed very similar performance with respect to signal strength and stability.
