  • This paper presents the reasonable design parameters of a SRM for hybrid electric vehicle driving. For the design of SRM, the initial model is designed using the equivalent magnetic circuit method. In order to optimize the SRM for HEV. The initial model is redesigned by FEM with the variation of the stock length and turns of winding. This paper shows that a flat-topped current of a phase can be made from a change of the stack length and the number of turns for high efficiency, high average torque and a lower torque ripple. The change of current falling time as a variation of turn-off angle was shown by FEA. The iron loss and copper loss were described. The torque of the redesigned motor is suitable for low and high speed ranges to drive a HEV that was verified by the speed-torque curve.

  • Maglev equipped with permanent magnets on the moving part can be levitated by the magnetic repulsion between Halbach array and conducting plate when this vehicle is running. This paper deals with the fundamental principles of the eddy-current magnetic repulsion system and the force characteristics to the change of the permanent magnet array and conduction bar.

  • Tilting trains are now an established feature of railway operations throughout the world. For intercity traffic, tilt provides operators with increasing speeds, and therefore enhanced competitiveness, on existing routes where insufficient traffic or a lack of funds precludes the construction of a dedicated new high-speed railway. Appling the tilting train, we can expect 30% of speed up on existing lines, but the stability of the electric current would be low because of tilting the train. Also, the spark between the catenary and pantagraph cause environmental problems such as noise, radio wave malfunction. Therefore, the tilting on pantagraph for the power suppling device is very essential for stable electric power supply.

  • The OBCS(On-Board Computer System) achieves train system diagnosis and control. For commercial train operation, it must guarantee the reliability for safe and have low cost operational algorithm. To guarantee the diagnosis function and the control ability of OBCS, sufficient actual railway running test under severe conditions is required. But, running test has some limitations for making severe conditions because of safety and it demands quite long time and a lot of costs. So simulator is required and is utilized in many countries. We designed a simulator to test various functions and performance of controllers for high speed train's power car under various conditions and it is represented briefly.

  • In order to achieve a essential requirement for the driving system of electric vehicles, that is, starting pick-up ability, a wound-type induction motor with double-rotor structure is proposed. Slip Power Recovery system is adopted to improve the efficiency in the low speed range and to control speed of this system. Theoretical analysis and experimental results from 300[W] prototype motor is presented to verify the improvement of pick-up ability and high-efficiency driving characteristics through the wide speed range, especially under the low speed range.

  • This paper presents the design and characteristics analysis of induction machine for diesel-electric hybrid vehicle powertrain. Diesel-electric hybrid vehicles are very efficacious in reduction of consumption energy, environment pollution and saftly yields with high dynamic of machines. However, their sophisticated construction requires from designers both complex made-technology and control strategy which would be able to put into practice this requirements. These problems are still considered in processing the design and analysis of induction machine. The requirements for a given volume, input power to weight ratio, high efficiency and wide speed range are met by the induction machine.

A study on effective log file creation method of AVLS terminal based on embedded linux (내장형 리눅스 기반 AVLS 단말기의 효율적 로그파일 생성 기법에 관한 연구)

  • AVLS is nowadays pretty considered on one of important parts in telematics service with a computerization of vehicle. However, with an implementation of commercial OS, individual OS and firmware on AVLS terminals, the cost and developing period are significantly increased. In this paper, we present the effective log-file creation methode about automobile status and location information within a restricted memory through designing AVLS terminals based on embedded linux. The proposed method shows 0.8% better performance on bzip2 compressor comparing to gzip compressor in the compressibility. In addition, bzip2 is faster than gzip about 2.14 times in the speed of compression.

  • This paper proposes a tracking algorithm for receiving satellite signal. Tracking algorithm uses the angular velocity of vehicle and the slope of received satellite signal for searching the maximum level of signal. The tracking algorithm is composed of two parts. One is the routine to maintain the acceptable signal in spite of the variation of angular velocity. The other is the fine tuning routine to search the maximum signal level by giving the weight factors to the slope of signal. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and stable.

  • This paper describes the result of load test of a bogie frame. The purpose of test is to evaluate the safety which bogie frame shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load. Bogie system consist of the bogie frame, suspensions, wheel-sets, a brake system and a transmission system. Among these component, the bogie frame is most significant component subjected to the vehicle and passenger loads. The evaluation method is used the JIS E 4207 specifications throughout the static load test. The test results have shown the bogie frame to be safe and stable under design load conditions.
