  • The crimping connection is a permanent connection that maintains mechanical and electrical property for a long time by crimping two conductors. In this paper, we have done a basic study to make a decision the normal or abnormal condition depending on crimping. By using PZT piezo-sensor, we have compared and analyzed crimping waveforms of abnormal conditions(core ommiting, cover biting) at the normal crimping height. And hence the normal or abnormal condition of crimping connections in real time could be determined by comparison of crimping waveforms in the cases of normal crimping, core omitting and cover biting.

  • Handover is one of the most important factors that may degrade the performance of TCP connections and real-time applications in wireless data networks. We proposed a seamless handover with Motion Prediction in IEEE 802.16e-based broadband wireless access networks. By intergrating MAC and network layer handovers efficiently, this scheme minimizes the handover delay and eliminates packet losses during handover Simulations show that this scheme achieves loss-free packet delivery without packet duplication and increases TCP throughput significantly.

  • This paper describes the design and realization of an extra high frequency band $8{\times}8$ microstrip Butler matrix. Operation at 36 GHz is achieved with a frequency bandwidth exceeding 400 MHz. The circuit is implemented on a bi-layer microstrip structure using conventional manufacturing processes. This planar implementation of a Butler matrix is a key component of a switched beam smart antenna with printed antenna elements integrated on-board. Conception details, simulation results, and measurements are also given for the components (hybrid couplers, cross-couplers, and vertical inter-connections) used to implement the matrix.

  • This study presents a recurrent compensatory fuzzy neural network (RCFNN) for dynamic system identification. The proposed RCFNN uses a compensatory fuzzy reasoning method, and has feedback connections added to the rule layer of the RCFNN. The compensatory fuzzy reasoning method can make the fuzzy logic system more effective, and the additional feedback connections can solve temporal problems as well. Moreover, an online learning algorithm is demonstrated to automatically construct the RCFNN. The RCFNN initially contains no rules. The rules are created and adapted as online learning proceeds via simultaneous structure and parameter learning. Structure learning is based on the measure of degree and parameter learning is based on the gradient descent algorithm. The simulation results from identifying dynamic systems demonstrate that the convergence speed of the proposed method exceeds that of conventional methods. Moreover, the number of adjustable parameters of the proposed method is less than the other recurrent methods.

  • The problem of architecting a reliable transport system across an overlay network using split TCP connections as the transport primitive is mainly considered. The considered overlay network uses the application-level switch in each intermediate host. We first argue that natural designs based on store-and-forward principles that are maintained by split TCP connections of hop-by-hop approaches. These approaches in overlay networks do not concern end-to-end TCP semantics. Then, a new transport protocol-Overlay Transport Protocol (OTP)-that manages the end-to-end connection and is responsible for the congestion/flow control between source host and destination host is proposed. The proposed network model for the congestion and flow control mechanisms uses a new window size-Ownd-and a new timer in the source host and destination host. We validate our analytical findings and evaluate the performance of our OTP using a prototype implementation via simulation.

  • This paper describes an ASM(All Solid-state Modulator) pulsed power generator for non-thermal plasma applications. The proposed generator can produce 20kV, 500A, 100ns pulses at repetition rates up to 10kHz, and it is composed of 30 series connections of power circuit card assembly which contains paralleled MOSFETs, MOSFET drivers, energy storage capacitors and specially designed 1:1 pulse transformer. Higher pulse voltages and currents can easily be obtained by increasing the numbers of series and parallel connections of power circuit card and MOSFETs, respectively. Component layouts are optimized to minimize the leakage inductance and the voltage spikes across switching devices. Especially it put emphasis on the over-current protection (including short circuit) for the reliable operation in real situations. Experimental results show that the proposed pulser is very efficient in air pollution control application and could be useful for other applications such as synthesis of nanosize powders and non-thermal food processing.

  • In this paper, an IC chip of a cell- network type circuit constructed with 1-dimensional chaos circuits is reported. The circuit, is designed by sing switched-current (Sl) techniques. In the proposed circuit, by controlling connections of cells, an S- dimensional circuit (S = 1, 2, 3,…) and a synchronization system can be constructed easily. Furthermore, in spite of faults of a few cells, the circuit can reconstruct above-mentioned systems only to change connections of cells. This feature will open up new vista for engineering applications which are used in a distance place such as space, deep sea, etc. since it is difficult to repair faults of these application systems. To investigate the characteristics of the circuit, SPICE simulations are performed. The VLSI chip is fabricated from the layout design using a CAD tool, MAGIC. The proposed circuit is integrable by a standard 1.2 $\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology.

  • Modelling and simulating the wind power intermittent behaviour are the basis of the planning and scheduling studies concerning wind power integration. The wind power outputs are evidently correlated in space and time and bring challenges in characterizing their behaviour. This paper provides a methodology to model and simulate the clustered wind power considering its spatio-temporal correlations using the theory of copula. The sampling approach captures the complex spatio-temporal connections among the wind farms by employing a conditional density function calculated using multidimensional copula function. The empirical study of real wind power measurement shows how the wind power outputs are correlated and how these correlations affect the overall uncertainty of clustered wind power output. The case study validates the simulation technique by comparing the simulated results with the real measurements.
