  • Monitoring a power transmission line is significant for power electric companies. In this paper, we propose a new method for detecting an fault point of power transmission line by use of M-sequence correlation technique. In this method, detecting signal is used as one or plural M-sequences ( same characteristic polynomial, including normal and reverse mark, synchronized ). In receiving point, we make same sequence with the input one and take crosscorrelation function between M-sequence and the received signal. We can see transfer fanctions of plural paths between inputs and a output taps separated from different of delay times on the crosscorrelation function, and from these transfer fanctions, so we compare them when fault occurred with in usual.

  • Ensuring the secure operation of power systems has become an important and critical matter during the present time, along with the development of large, complex and load-increasing systems. Security constraints such as the thermal limits of transmission lines and bus-voltage limits must be satisfied under all of a system’s operational conditions. An alternative solution to improve the security of a power system is the employment of Flexible Alternating-Current Transmission Systems (FACTS). FACTS devices can reduce the flows of heavily loaded lines, maintain the bus voltages at desired levels, and improve the stability of a power network. The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is a versatile FACTS device that can independently or simultaneously control the active power, the reactive power and the bus voltage; however, to achieve such functionality, it is very important to determine the optimal location of the UPFC device, with the appropriate parameter setting, in the power system. In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) method is applied to determine the optimal location of the UPFC device in a network for the enhancement of the power-system loadability and the minimization of the active power loss in the transmission line. To verify our approach, simulations were performed on the IEEE 14 Bus, 30 Bus, and 57 Bus test systems. The proposed work was implemented in the MATLAB platform.

  • In this Paper, we propose a multi-hop transmission in cognitive underlay network. In Secondary network, We assume that a secondary source S attempts to transmit D its signal to a secondary destination via N+1 hops with help of N relays $R_1$, $R_2$, ${\ldots}$, $R_N$. At hop k between relay $R_k$ and relay $R_{k+1}$. we assume that there is a primary user $PU_k$. In this paper, we assume that these channels are Rayleigh fading channels. In underlay network, the secondary transmitter has to adapt its power so that the interference caused at the primary user is less than a maximum interference threshold. considering the hop transmission between the transmitter and the repeater, we find transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Between the transmitter from the receiver depending on the number of relay in the underlay network, we compared to find the transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Finally we find optimal number of relay and optimal threshold value.

  • Research of ubiquitous computing becomes more popular topic along with the rapid development of wireless technologies. Firstly, research and development on RFID focuses on manufacturing and retail sectors, because it can improve supply chain efficiency. But, it changes to USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) by adding a sensor and wireless network technologies on it. In this research, we design and implement the electric facility management service framework to collect real time information of electric facility using RFID/USN. In electric power industry, it is important the supply of energy must be guaranteed. So many power utilities control and supervise the transmission line to avoid power failures. Utilities install many types of sensor to monitor important facilities by wired network such as optical cable and PLC. In this research, we develop the sensor node which is small, easy to install and using wired network. We design the service framework for electric facility management to collect data using RFID tag, reader and wireless sensor nodes and implement the electric facility management service.

  • There are a number of studies that propose transmission power control algorithms in wireless sensor networks. However, these algorithms have a lot of overhead in the initialization phase since a number of packets have to be transmitted to determine the optimal transmission power level. This paper proposes the transmission power control technique considering the shortest-path to minimize the hop-count without the occurrence of any power control messages. We applied the proposed technique on tree-based network component implemented on TinyOS. And we evaluated the performance including transmission energy and average network depth with 21 motes. Compared to before, the proposed technique reduces about 24.7% of the average electric current on transmitting. As a result of considering the shortest-path, the hop-count considering the shortest-path was about 41% less than a normal network.

  • This paper illustrates the possibilities of using the program ATP-Draw (Alternative Transient Program) for the modeling of power networks to study power quality problems with highly detailed analyses. The Program ATP-Draw is one of the most widespread and oldest programs. A unique characteristic of this program is its public domain and the existence of forums and study committees where new application cases and modification are presented and shared publicly. In this paper, to study the propagation of harmonics through a power network, a part of an industrial power network was modeled. The network contains different types of electric components, such as transformers, transmission lines, cables and loads, and there is a source of harmonics that injects $3^{rd}$, $5^{th}$, $7^{th}$, $9^{th}$ and $11^{th}$ harmonic currents into the network, causing a distortion of the wave form of the currents and voltages through the power network.

  • Energy markets of the Northeast Asia countries and in particular South Korea are perspective enough from the standpoint of export of energy resources from Russia. South Korea Power System has been rapidly growing. However, recently it has been confronted with difficulties in regard to constructing new Power Stations and especially Hydro Power Plants. Therefore it is mutually beneficial to build electric tie to South Korea in order to use highly effective Power of Northeast Asia. In this paper, we describe the maximum available transmission power through interconnected line without loss of stability in power system. For this simulation, the AC transmission system is assumed appropriate for this preliminary study. The transmission system will pass through territory of North Korea and connect to 765 kV Network near Seoul with long distance.

  • TETRA(Terrestrial Trunked Radio) is a digital trunked radio standard developed by the ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institute). Currently, TETRA was set Digital TRS in electric power If wireless backbone network. In this time, we use many company's TETRA modem. So, TETRA modem performance evaluation is very important. TETRA modem use two type of Data transfer mode. One is Packet Data using UDP/IP. and the other is SDS(Short Data Service). In this paper, We generate Packet Data using Traffic Generator module. Packet Data transfer 1000 times each 10 bytes to 400 bytes. We analyze transmission delay time, success rate and standard deviation.

  • A technique for the seismic reliability evaluation of electric power transmission systems(EPTS) adapted to ground motion characteristics of Korea has been developed to evaluate reliability indices corresponding to the whole system and to each node within. A network model with nodes and links for EPTS has been established, and a seismic substation-fragility curve obtained from seismic fragilities of power system facilities has been derived. A point source model, the doubly truncated Gutenberg-Richter relationship, and earthquake intensity attenuation formula have been applied to simulate seismic events. Using Monte-Carlo simulation method, the seismic reliability of EPTS is evaluated and, it appeared that seismic effect on EPTS in low and moderate seismicity regions has to be considered.
