In this study we developed a program(DEVSIM) to simulate the two dimensional distribution of the electrostatic potential and the electric field of the arbitrary structure consisting of GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor and metal as well as dielectric. By the comparision of the electric field distribution of GaAs MESFETs with the various recess gates we proposed a suitable device structure to improve the breakdown characteristics of MESFET. According to the results of simulation the breakdown characteristics were improved as the thickness of the active epitaxial layer was decreased. And the planar structure, which had the highly doped layer under the drain for the ohmic contact, was the worst because the highly doped layer prevented the space charge layer below the gate from extending to the drain, which produced the narrow spaced distribution of the electrostatic potential contours resulting in the high electric field near the drain end. Instead of the planar structure with the highly doped drain the recess gate structure having the highly doped epitaxial drain layer show the better breakdown characteristics by allowing the extention of the space charge layer to the drain. Especially, the structure in which the part of the drain epitaxial layer near the gate show the more improvement of the breakdown characteristics.
This paper provides a semi-analytical approach to investigate the variations of 3D displacement components, electric potential, stresses, electric displacements and transverse vibration frequencies in laminated piezoelectric composite plates based on the scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) and the precise integration algorithm (PIA). The proposed approach can analyze the static and dynamic responses of multilayered piezoelectric plates with any number of laminae, various geometrical shapes, boundary conditions, thickness-to-length ratios and stacking sequences. Only a longitudinal surface of the plate is discretized into 2D elements, which helps to improve the computational efficiency. Comparing with plate theories and other numerical methods, only three displacement components and the electric potential are set as the basic unknown variables and can be represented analytically through the transverse direction. The whole derivation is built upon the three dimensional key equations of elasticity for the piezoelectric materials and no assumptions on the plate kinematics have been taken. By virtue of the equilibrium equations, the constitutive relations and the introduced set of scaled boundary coordinates, three-dimensional governing partial differential equations are converted into the second order ordinary differential matrix equation. Furthermore, aided by the introduced internal nodal force, a first order ordinary differential equation is obtained with its general solution in the form of a matrix exponent. To further improve the accuracy of the matrix exponent in the SBFEM, the PIA is employed to make sure any desired accuracy of the mechanical and electric variables. By virtue of the kinetic energy technique, the global mass matrix of the composite plates constituted by piezoelectric laminae is constructed for the first time based on the SBFEM. Finally, comparisons with the exact solutions and available results are made to confirm the accuracy and effectiveness of the developed methodology. What's more, the effect of boundary conditions, thickness-to-length ratios and stacking sequences of laminae on the distributions of natural frequencies, mechanical and electric fields in laminated piezoelectric composite plates is evaluated.

The electric safety tends to be more important according to electric facilities's increase and its use in these days. This paper analyzes soil resistivity of two areas in the country using CDEGS(Current Distribution, Electromagnetic Interference, Grounding and Soil Structure, Canada). We designed rod and mesh grounding system and made a comparative study of ground resistance, GPR(Main Electrode Potential Rin), step voltage and touch voltage. Then we could analyz only the safety but also economical efficiency in elocution of grounding. As a result of simulation, ground resistance, GPR(Main Electrode Potential Rise), step voltage and touch voltage became higher in proportion to soil resistivity. Therefore we expect to estimate the propriety of grounding system design through accumulation and analysis of data in consideration of characteristics of soil.
In this paper, each specimen blended at weight proportions of 80% HDPE to 20% EVA, 70% HDPE to 30% EVA, 60% HDPE to 40% EVA, and 50% HDPE to 50% EVA was manufactured respectively. The insulation performances of the proposed insulator were compared with conventional XLPE, main insulating material of CV cable on the basis of the investigation results of DC insulation performances. From the space charge density, electric field and potential profiles with raising DC voltage and time variation in HE82, distortion of electric field distribution was improved. As EVA mixed into the bulks acts as nucleation in crystallization process of HDPE, the size of spherulites became decreased and finally formed continuous network structure. Ultimately it resulted from extinction of space charge in the interfacial region of spherulites.

In this paper, a new two dimensional (2D) analytical model of a Dual Material Gate tunnel field effect transistor (DMG TFET) is presented. The parabolic approximation technique is used to solve the 2-D Poisson equation with suitable boundary conditions. The simple and accurate analytical expressions for surface potential and electric field are derived. The electric field distribution can be used to calculate the tunneling generation rate and numerically extract tunneling current. The results show a significant improvement of on-current and reduction in short channel effects. Effectiveness of the proposed method has been confirmed by comparing the analytical results with the TCAD simulation results.

In order to analyse the degradation process of epoxy/glass fiber for outdoor condition, FRP laminate was exposed to the wavelength of ultraviolet rays and evaluated by comparing contact angle, surface resistivity, surface potential decay, and ESCA spectrum respectively. As irradiation energy are increased, the surface properties were steeply decreased in the range of 300[nm]. But the measured values within the scope of400[nm]∼440[nm] showed a increase as compared with the untreated ones. Also, fromthe result of ESCA spectrum, it was confirmed plenty of oxygen groups on the spot showing the maximum decrease of surface properties and the existence of ether groups on the surface of coloring phase. We can conclude that the degradation phenomena on the surface of epoxy composites are dominated by the induction of ester and carboxyl groups.

In this study, for the establishment of the performance evaluation methods and the quality control standards of durability recovery method, the data of indoor durability test and the data of the long term exposure test under the coast are accumulated and analyzed. As a result of the indoor test, durability of repair material was more superior to that of plain concrete, but as a result of investigating and evaluating exposure test at 30 month of exposure age under the coastal environment, the difference in electric potential and the reinforcement corrosion at place replaced with repair material are found.
We have developed a nanoparticle focusing mask which can generate particle arrays directly on the large area with high resolution. Using this mask, nanomaterials are precisely deposited onto desired positions on a substrate surface. We obtained various sizes of arrays ranging from 80 nm to 6 ${\mu}m$ with silver and copper nanoparticles that are generated by a spark discharge and an evaporation-condensation method. The feather size is much smaller than that of mask openings due to the focusing effects, like electrostatic lens, caused by charge or electric potential on insulator mask surface, which also prevent a mask clogging. The particle array size depends on the size of mask open patterns and focusing effects near the mask relate to ion flow rate and electric potential. We have demonstrated that diverse size of arrays with high resolution could be obtained repeatedly using the same sized mask in atmosphere.
The tracking pattern formed on the dielectric surface due to a surface electrical discharge exhibits fractal structure. In order to quantitatively investigate the fractal characteristics of the surface tracking pattern, the dielectric breakdown model has been employed to numerically generate the surface tracking pattern. In dielectric breakdown model, the pattern growth is determined stochastically by a probability function depending on the local electric potential difference. For the computation of the electric potential for all points of the lattice, a two-dimensional discrete Laplace equation is solved by mean of the successive over-relaxation method combined to the Gauss-Seidel method. The box counting method has been used to calculate the fractal dimensions of the simulated patterns with various exponent $\eta$ and breakdown voltage $\phi_b$. As a result of the simulation, it is found that the fractal nature of the surface tracking pattern depends strongly on $\eta$ and $\phi_b$.
In this article, based on the higher-order shear deformation plate theory, buckling analysis of a rectangular plate made of functionally graded piezoelectric materials and its effective parameters are investigated. Assuming the transverse distribution of electric potential to be a combination of a parabolic and a linear function of thickness coordinate, the equilibrium equations for the buckling analysis of an FGP rectangular plate are established. In addition to the Maxwell equation, all boundary conditions including the conditions on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate for closed and open circuited are satisfied. Considering double sine solution (Navier solution) for displacement field and electric potential, an analytical solution is obtained for full simply supported boundary conditions. The accurate buckling load of FGP plate is presented for both open and closed circuit conditions. It is found that the critical buckling load for open circuit is more than that of closed circuit in all loading conditions. Furthermore, it is observed that the influence of dielectric constants on the critical buckling load is more than those of others.
