LED 항해등의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of LED Navigation Lights)

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated LED navigation lights which can replace the existing ones immediately and overcome disadvantages due to use of conventional lamps. To decide the best arrangement and position of a LED module, optical systems of existing navigation lights were analyzed and refracted routes of rays were simulated. The electrical and optical characteristics of the fabricated LED navigation lights were measured and analyzed with a goniophotometer. To calculate ranges of visibility, the vertical and horizontal luminous intensity distributions were evaluated in accordance with the COLREGs (convention on the international regulation for preventing collisions at Sea). From the results, the proposed LED navigation lights showed suitable characteristics for marine environment with the power consumption reduced by 90% and the maximum luminous intensity increased by 20% compared to the existing navigation lights.

A Study on a Vision Sensor System for Tracking the I-Butt Weld Joints

  • In this study, a visual sensor system for weld seam tracking the I-butt weld joints in GMA welding was constructed. The sensor system consists of a CCD camera, a diode laser with a cylindrical lens and a band-pass-filter to overcome the degrading of image due to spatters and arc light. In order to obtain the enhanced image, quantitative relationship between laser intensity and iris opening was investigated. Throughout the repeated experiments, the shutter speed was set at 1/1000 second for minimizing the effect of spatters on the image, and therefore the image without the spatter traces could be obtained. Region of interest was defined from the entire image and gray level of the searched laser stripe was compared to that of weld line. The differences between these gray levels lead to spot the position of weld joint using central difference method. The results showed that, as long as weld line is within $\pm15^{o}$ from the longitudinal straight line, the system constructed in this study could track the weld line successfully. Since the processing time is no longer than 0.05 sec, it is expected that the developed method could be adopted to high speed welding such as laser welding.

Diffraction-Limited High-Power Single-Cycle Terahertz Pulse Generation in Prism-Cut LiNbO3 for Precise Terahertz Applications

  • We report the generation of 3.3-mW single-cycle terahertz (THz) pulses at 1-kHz repetition rate via optical rectification in MgO-doped prism-cut stoichiometric LiNbO3. Efficient pulse-front tilting of 800-nm pulses was realized by an optimized single-lens focusing scheme for radially-symmetric propagation of THz beams. In this geometry, nearly-diffraction-limited THz Gaussian beams with electric field strength as high as 350 kV/cm were generated. The pump-to-THz energy conversion efficiency of $1.36{\times}10^{-3}$ and the extremely high signal-to-noise ratio of ~1:15000 achieved are among the best results for 1-kHz single-cycle terahertz pulse generation ever demonstrated in room temperature operation.

A Improved Scene based Non-uniformity Correction Algorithm for Infrared Camera

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient scene based non-uniformity correction algorithm which performs the offset correction using the uniform obtained from input scenes for Infrared camera. In general, pixel outputs of a infrared detector can not be uniform. Therefore, the non-uniformity correction procedure need to be performed to make the image outputs uniform. A typical non-uniformity correction method uses a black body at the laboratory to obtain the output of the infrared detector's pixels for two temperatures, HOT and COLD, and calculates the non-uniformity correction parameters. However, output characteristics of the Infrared detector changes while the Infrared camera is operated, the fixed pattern noise of the Infrared detector and dead pixels are generated. To remove the noise, the offset correction is generally performed. The offset correction procedure usually need the additional device such as a thermo-electric cooler, shutter, or non-uniformity correction lens. Therefore, we introduce a general scene based non-uniformity correction technique without additional equipment, and then we propose an improved non-uniformity correction algorithm based on image to solve the problem of the existing technique.

Creation of 3D Maps for Satellite Communications to Support Ambulatory Rescue Operations

  • A communications profile is a system that acquires information from communication links to an ambulance or other vehicle moving on a road and compiles a database based on this information. The equipment (six sets of HDTVs, fish-eye camera, satellite antenna with tracking system, and receiving power from the satellite beacon of the N-star) mounted on the roof of the vehicle, image data were obtained at Yokohama Japan. From these data, the polygon of the building was actually produced and has arranged on the map of the Geographical Survey Institute of a 50 m-mesh. The optical study (relationship between visibility rate and elevation angle) were performed on actual data taken by fish-eye lens, and simulated data by 3D-Map with polygons. There was no big difference. This 3D map system then predicts the communication links that will be available at a given location. For line-of-sight communication, optical analysis allows approximation if the frequency is sufficiently high. For non-line-of-sight communication, previously obtained electric power data can be used as reference information for approximation in certain cases when combined with predicted values calculated based on a 3D map. 3D maps are more effective than 2D maps for landing emergency medical helicopters on public roadways in the event of a disaster. Using advanced imaging technologies, we have produced a semi-automatic creation of a high-precision 3D map at Yokohama Yamashita Park and vicinity and assessed its effectiveness on telecommunications and ambulatory merits.

A study of an Architecture of Digital Twin Ship with Mixed Reality

  • As the 4th industrial revolution progresses, the application of several cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, and mixed reality (MR) in relation to autonomous ships is being considered in the maritime logistics field. The aim of this study was to apply the concept of a digital twin model based on Human Machine Interaction (HMI) including a digital twin model and the role of an operator to a ship. The role of the digital twin is divided into information provision, support, decision, and implementation. The role of the operator is divided into operation, decision-making, supervision, and standby. The system constituting the ship was investigated. The digital twin system that could be applied to the ship was also investigated. The cloud-based digital twin system architecture that could apply investigated applications was divided into ship data collection (part 1), cloud system (part 2), analysis system/ application (part 3), and MR/mobile system (part 4). A Mixed Reality device HoloLens was used as an HMI equipment to perform a simulation test of a digital twin system of an 8 m battery-based electric propulsion ship.

A Study on the Image Processing of Visual Sensor for Weld Seam Tracking in GMA Welding

  • In this study, a preview-sensing visual sensor system is constructed far weld seam tracking in GMA welding. The visual sensor system consists of a CCD camera, a diode laser system with a cylindrical lens, and a band-pass-filter to overcome the degrading of image due to spatters and/or arc light. Among the image processing methods, Hough transform method is compared with the central difference method from a viewpoint of the capability for extracting the accurate feature position. As a result, it was revealed that Hough transform method can more accurately extract the feature positions and it can be applied to real time weld seam tracking. Image processing which includes Hough transform method is carried out to extract straight lines that express laser stripe. After extracting the lines, weld joint position and edge points are determined by intersecting the lines. Even though the image includes a spatter trace on it, it is possible to recognize the position of weld joint. Weld seam tracking was precisely implemented with adopting Hough transform method, and it is possible to track the weld seam in the case of offset angle is in the region of $\pm$ $15^{\circ}$.

소형 Magnetron sputtering 방법에 의한 썬글라스 렌즈용 Ti 박막의 특성연구 (The Study of the Characteristic of Ti Thin Film Using Small Magnetron Sputtering Method for Sunglass Lens)

  • 목적: 소형 magnetron sputtering 장치를 이용하여 CR-39 안경렌즈와 glass위에 코팅한 썬글라스 렌즈용 Ti박막의 광학적 특성에 관한 연구이다. 방법: SEM 단면 사진으로 Ti 코팅 박막의 두께를 측정하였고, spectrophotometer를 이용하여 Ti 박막의 투과율과 반사율을 측정하였다. Variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (VASE)를 이용하여 파장에 따라 Ti 박막의 굴절률과 소멸계수를 구하였다. 결과: 두께가 60 nm, 120 nm, 140 nm인 시료에 대한 투과율은 가시광선 영역인 파장 400 nm에서 750 nm까지 변화가 크지 않았으며 모두 silver tone에 가까운 color를 보였다. 가까운 파장 400 nm 근처에서 약간 올라가는 경향을 보였고, He d선 (587.6 nm)을 기준으로 할 때 Ti 박막의 두께가 60 nm에서 투과율이 33%, 두께가 120 nm에서 투과율이 25%, 두께가 140 nm에서 투과율이 20%를 보였다. 결론: Ti 박막의 경우 60~140 nm의 모든 두께에서 선글라스용으로 적합한 것을 알 수 있었다. Ti박막에 대한 굴절률이 작게 나오는 것은 Ti박막의 두께가 얇기 때문이라고 여겨진다.

고출력 LED 탐조등의 설계 및 제작 (Design and fabrication of a high power LED searchlight)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 1kW 할로겐 탐조등을 대체하기 위한 고출력 LED 탐조등에 관하여 기술하였다. 설계사양은 KDS 6230-1046-1과 KS V 8469를 기준으로 하였으며, 요구 광도 800,000cd를 만족시키기 위하여 지향각 $6^{\circ}$의 렌즈를 사용하였다. 시제작 LED 탐조등의 방열은 공랭식으로써 팬이나 히트파이프를 사용하지 않았다. 시험결과, 시제작 LED 탐조등의 소비전력은 148W로 1kW 할로겐 탐조등에 비해 85% 절감되었으며, 중심광도는 945,000cd로써 KS V 8469를 만족하였다. 광효율은 기존 탐조등보다 4.7배 향상되었으며, 지향각, 색온도 및 연색성은 각각 $5.4^{\circ}$, 5,500K, 70이었다. LED 탐조등의 외함 온도는 $60^{\circ}C$ 이하이고, SMPS 주변 온도는 $50^{\circ}C$ 이하로 IEC 60092-306을 만족하였다.

원적외선 2세대 열상조준경의 설계 (Advanced LWIR Thermal Imaging Sight Design)

  • 전차 조준경으로 사용될 수 있는 2세대 열상장비를 개발하였다. 설계된 장비는 프랑스 Sofradir사의 $480\times6$ 배열 원적외선$(7.7{\mu}m-10.3{\mu}m)$ MCT(HgCdTe) 검출기를 이용하였고, $2.67^{\circ}\times2^{\circ}$의 고배율 협시계와 $10^{\circ}\times7.5^{\circ}$의 저배율 광시계의 이중배율을 가지고 있다. 또한 넓은 운용 온도 범위에서도 시스템의 성능이 저하되지 않도록 비열화 기술을 적용하였다. 설계된 장비는 고효율의 주사장치로 47만 화소의 실시간 영상 재현이 가능하며, 이는 1세대 열상장비에 비하여 화소수가 대폭 증가한 것이다. 적외선 검출소자들의 불균일 보정을 위해서 열전 냉각 소자를 이용한 두 점 보상 기법을 제시하여 실시간 보정이 이루어지게 하였고, 열영상 분포 히스토그램 가변 방식의 처리 기법을 제안하여 적용함으로써 대조비가 매우 낮은 표적의 식별도 용이하게 하였다. 설계 및 제작된 2세대 열상장비의 고배율에서 최소분해가능온도차를 측정한 결과, 2cycles/mrad의 공간주파수에서 0.05K 이하의 우수한 결과를 보였다.
