전기탈이온시스템 응용을 위한 주기적 홀을 갖는 금속 전극 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of Periodic Holes on Metal Electrode for Electrodeionization System Application)

  • Electrodeionization is a hybrid separation process of electrodialysis and ion exchange to produce high purity water under electric field. This article provides a fabrication result of hole patterned metal electrode for elecrodeionization system. The hole patterns have been fabricated by nanosphere lithography (NSL). The technique utilizes the self-assembled nanospheres as lens-mask patterns and collimated laser beam source. The hole patterns have a periodic array structure. The images of hole pattern on metal electrode prepared were observed by SEM. We believe that the periodic hole patterned metal electrode structure is a useful device applicable for metal mat electrode in electrodeionization system.

  • This study investigated the effect of the system parameters on penetration depth measurement using infrared temperature sensing system. The distance from focusing lens to detector was varied to diminish the error in measuring weld bead width. The effect of bead surface shape on measured surface temperature profile was evaluated using specimen heated by electric resistance. The measuring distance from laser beam was changed to optimize the measuring point. The results indicated that the monitoring device of surface temperature using infrared detector array was applicable to real time penetration depth control.

Development of an Impedance Matching Layer in an Ultrasound Transducer with Gradient Properties

  • The piezocomposite transducer is widely used because it is highly efficient in transforming electric energy into mechanical energy, and its frequency range is broader than that of other types of ultrasound transducers. A general piezocomposite transducer is composed of an acoustic lens, impedance matching layers, piezoelectric materials, and backing layers. When an input voltage is applied to a piezoelectric material as an active material, it generates sound waves while vibrating. At that time, an impedance matching layer helps the sound waves to propagate forward while reducing the impedance mismatch that may occur at the interface between the active material and its front material. The impedance mismatch has a negative effect on the signal of an ultrasound transducer; thus, it is important to design a matching layer to overcome the issue. In this study, an optimized feature of a matching layer with gradient properties is studied. An objective function is defined to minimize both the average and the deviation of the reflection coefficients that are functions of the frequencies. As a result, an improvement in the signal characteristics with respect to the sensitivity and bandwidth is reported.

  • Non-emissive LCDs need a backlight, and have difficulty implementing wide viewing angles due to differences in phase retardation depending on the behavior of the liquid crystals. Although wide viewing angles are good characteristics for devices such as TVs, they are not good for mobile devices. In this paper, we propose ways to design diffusers with ELC lenses to achieve wide and narrow viewing angles depending on the circumstances. A study was conducted on optimizing the design of a liquid lens diffuser with the same light as that for an OLED, by extracting design factors that affect the performance of the diffuser and applying the Taguchi method to them.

마이크로칼럼에서 변형된 4중극 디플렉터와 8중극 디플렉터의 스캔 영역 비교 (Study on the Scan Field of Modified Octupole and Quadrupole Deflector in a Microcolumn)

  • 마이크로칼럼에서는 전자빔을 스캔하기 위해 초소형화된 정전디플렉터를 사용하는 경우가 많다. 주로 두 개의 8중극 디플렉터(double octupole deflector)를 사용하는 경우가 많은데, 이는 스캔 영역을 넓게 하면서도 전자빔이 대물렌즈를 통과할 때에 광축 근처에 위치하도록 함으로써 수차를 작게 유지할 수 있는 장점이 있기 때문이다. 마이크로칼럼은 최종적으로는 멀티 칼럼 형태로 사용하여 전자빔 장비의 throughput을 높이고자 하는 목적으로 연구가 되고 있는데, 칼럼의 수가 많아지게 되면 각 부품에 연결되는 배선의 수도 함께 증가하게 된다. 이에 따라 정전렌즈, 디플렉터 등의 마이크로칼럼 부품 배선을 진공 챔버 밖에 있는 제어장비와 연결하는 과정에서 실질적인 문제에 봉착하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 완화하기 위하여 렌즈 수를 최소화할 수 있도록 대물렌즈를 제거한 마이크로칼럼 구조를 선택하여, 변형된 4중극 및 8중극 디플렉터의 동작을 전산모사 방법으로 연구하였다. 기본적으로 MEMS 공정을 적용하기 용이한 실리콘 디플렉터 구조에서 각 전극의 크기를 동일하게 하지 않고, 서로 다른 크기의 전극을 교대로 배치하도록 디자인하였다. 8중극과 4중극 디플렉터 각각에서 디플렉터 전압을 인가하는 구동전극의 크기에 변화를 주었을 때 스캔 영역과 디플렉터 중심점에서의 전기장의 변화를 조사하여 비교하였다. 스캔 영역은 디플렉터전압에 따라 선형적으로 비례하였다. 스캔영역과 중심점에서의 전기장 세기 모두 8중극 디플렉터에 비해 4중극 디플렉터에서 더 크게 나타났으며, 전극의 크기에 따라 약 1.3 ~ 2.0 배 큰 것으로 조사되었다.

함정용 LED 투광등 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of a LED Floodlight for Naval Vessels)

  • This paper dealt with the development of a LED floodlight for naval vessels to replace the conventional floodlight using an incandescent and a halogen lamp. We found a technical solution for current problems of conventional lights and also improved optical characteristics by developing a LED floodlight which has a typical long-lived light source with high efficiency. To satisfy the requirements specified in Korea Standard Vessels (KS V), the optical structure was designed with selected LED package and lens. A LED module was composed of 10 LEDs in series for stable luminous output, and an aluminium heat sink was adopted for effective heat-radiation design. The LED floodlight was fabricated as a module type so that it can easily replace the conventional light source. The power consumption of the prototype floodlight was only a tenth of a conventional one with the same optical performance. Also, a test showed the floodlight satisfied the electrical, optical and environmental requirements of the standards.

Development of underwater 3D shape measurement system with improved radiation tolerance

  • When performing remote tasks using robots in nuclear power plants, a 3D shape measurement system is advantageous in improving the efficiency of remote operations by easily identifying the current state of the target object for example, size, shape, and distance information. Nuclear power plants have high-radiation and underwater environments therefore the electronic parts that comprise 3D shape measurement systems are prone to degradation and thus cannot be used for a long period of time. Also, given the refraction caused by a medium change in the underwater environment, optical design constraints and calibration methods for them are required. The present study proposed a method for developing an underwater 3D shape measurement system with improved radiation tolerance, which is composed of commercial electric parts and a stereo camera while being capable of easily and readily correcting underwater refraction. In an effort to improve its radiation tolerance, the number of parts that are exposed to a radiation environment was minimized to include only necessary components, such as a line beam laser, a motor to rotate the line beam laser, and a stereo camera. Given that a signal processing circuit and control circuit of the camera is susceptible to radiation, an image sensor and lens of the camera were separated from its main body to improve radiation tolerance. The prototype developed in the present study was made of commercial electric parts, and thus it was possible to improve the overall radiation tolerance at a relatively low cost. Also, it was easy to manufacture because there are few constraints for optical design.

  • An optical pickup actuator is an objective-lens-moving mechanism that provides a means to follow the disk displacement accurately(1). In this paper, a slim type optical pickup actuator for Notebook PCs is analyzed and designed to improve the driving sensitivity A three dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method (3D-EMCN method) is proposed for an analysis method which provides better characteristics in both precision and computation time of analysis comparing with a commercial three-dimensional finite element (3D-FEM) codes. To verify the validity of proposed method, we made a comparison between the analysis results and the experimental ones. We also compared this analysis results with 3D-FEM results. Among the several optimal algorithm, we adopt a niching genetic algorithm, which renders a set of the multiple optimal solutions. RCS (Restricted Competition Selection) niching genetic algorithm is used for optimal design of the actuator's performance. Recently, the pickup actuator needs additional driving structure for radial and tangential tilting motion to obtain better pick-up performance. So we applied the proposed method to the model containing tilting coils.

  • There are some limitations to advance technology glaring and luminous Intensity uniformity known as the weak point of existing LED lamp. To improve the two weak points, there have been no special alternative methods so far. Instead, one method which is being used such as the twisting secondary lens or arbitrary structure to remove glaring and improve luminous Intensity uniformity. Based on this academic background, it is necessary to be examined on Technology of Optical System to solve the two weak points by using not complicated but simple methods. This paper will examine the angle of reflection in order to improve luminous intensity uniformity. Also, this research will present the method using lighting analysis program to verify a hypothesis. Through the analysis program, we could understand the simulation analysis method and got some problems about the analysis result. After analysis of causes through reinterpretation of problems, we have reached a conclusion that was changed according to reflectivity and the shape of aspherics by main cause which effected luminous Intensity uniformity and glaring.

  • 상업용 3-D simulation tool(OPERA)을 이용하여 슬릿형 위글러가 장착된 초소형 자유전자레이저 모듈에 있어서 위글러 구조에 따른 전자빔 특성을 조사하였다. 전자렌즈의 중앙 전극에 일정한 potential을 인가하여 전자빔이 평행빔이 되도록 divergence를 줄여서 위글러에 입사시켰으며 위글러의 구조 의존성에 따른 위글러 내부에서의 전기장과 potential 분포를 계산하여 위글러에서의 전자빔 궤적의 변화를 조사하였다.
