The semi-analytical method to study the nonlinear dynamic behavior of simply supported spiral stiffened functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shells subjected to an axial compression is presented. The FG shell is surrounded by damping and linear/nonlinear elastic foundation. The proposed linear model is based on the two-parameter elastic foundation (Winkler and Pasternak). A three-parameter elastic foundation with hardening/softening cubic nonlinearity is used for nonlinear model. The material properties of the shell and stiffeners are assumed to be FG. Based on the classical plate theory of shells and von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ nonlinear equations, smeared stiffeners technique and Galerkin method, this paper solves the nonlinear vibration problem. The fourth order Runge-Kutta method is used to find the nonlinear dynamic responses. Results are given to consider effects of spiral stiffeners with various angles, elastic foundation and damping coefficients on the nonlinear dynamic response of spiral stiffened simply supported FG cylindrical shells.
This study aims to examine the elastic stiffness properties of Elliptic-Braced Moment Resisting Frame (EBMRF) subjected to lateral loads. Installing the elliptic brace in the middle span of the frames in the facade of a building, as a new lateral bracing system not only it can improve the structural behavior, but it provides sufficient space to consider opening it needed. In this regard, for the first time, an accurate theoretical formulation has been developed in order that the elastic stiffness is investigated in a two-dimensional single-story single-span EBMRF. The concept of strain energy and Castigliano's theorem were employed to perform the analysis. All influential factors were considered, including axial and shearing loads in addition to the bending moment in the elliptic brace. At the end of the analysis, the elastic lateral stiffness could be calculated using an improved relation through strain energy method based on geometric properties of the employed sections as well as specifications of the utilized materials. For the ease of finite element (FE) modeling and its use in linear design, an equivalent element was developed for the elliptic brace. The proposed relation was verified by different examples using OpenSees software. It was found that there is a negligible difference between elastic stiffness values derived by the developed equations and those of numerical analysis using FE method.

This manuscript is dedicated to deriving the closed form solutions of free vibration of viscoelastic nanobeam embedded in an elastic medium using nonlocal differential Eringen elasticity theory that not considered before. The kinematic displacements of Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko theories are developed to consider the thin nanobeam structure (i.e., zero shear strain/stress) and moderated thick nanobeam (with constant shear strain/stress). To consider the internal damping viscoelastic effect of the structure, Kelvin/Voigt constitutive relation is proposed. The perforation geometry is intended by uniform symmetric squared holes arranged array with equal space. The partial differential equations of motion and boundary conditions of viscoelastic perforated nonlocal nanobeam with elastic foundation are derived by Hamilton principle. Closed form solutions of damped and natural frequencies are evaluated explicitly and verified with prestigious studies. Parametric studies are performed to signify the impact of elastic foundation parameters, viscoelastic coefficients, nanoscale, supporting boundary conditions, and perforation geometry on the dynamic behavior. The closed form solutions can be implemented in the analysis of viscoelastic NEMS/MEMS with perforations and embedded in elastic medium.
Elastic wave scattering from an acoustically rigid or soft object is studied and compared with the acoustic wave scattering. The behavior of phases as well as magnitudes of partial waves and their total summation of scattered wave are numerically analyzed and discussed. The effect of mode conversion, which occurs between longitudinal and transversal waves in elastic wave scattering. on the magnitudes and phases of scattered waves is identified.

In recent years, mechanical systems such as high speed vehicles and railway trains moving on elastic beam structures have become a very important issue to consider. In this paper, a general approach, which can predict the dynamic behavior of a constrained mechanical system moving on a flexible beam structure, is proposed. Various supporting conditions for the foundation support are considered for the elastic beam structure. The elastic structure is assumed to be a non-uniform and linear Bernoulli-Euler beam with a proportional damping effect. Combined differential-algebraic equation of motion is derived using the multi-body dynamics theory and the finite element method. The proposed equations of motion can be solved numerically using the generalized coordinate partitioning method and predictor-corrector algorithm, which is an implicit multi-step integration method.
In this study simply supported nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads is investigated. A new kind of analytical technique for a non-linear problem called He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) is used to obtain the analytical solution for non-linear vibration behavior of the problem. Analytical expressions for geometrically non-linear vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads are provided. The effect of vibration amplitude on the non-linear frequency and buckling load is discussed. The variation of different parameter to the nonlinear frequency is considered completely in this study. The nonlinear vibration equation is analyzed numerically using Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ technique. Comparison of Energy Balance Method (EBM) with Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ leads to highly accurate solutions.
The present paper deals with the free vibration and buckling problem with consideration of surface properties of circular nanobeams and nanoarches. The Gurtin-Murdach theory is used for investigating the surface effects parameters including surface tension, surface density and surface elasticity. Both linear and nonlinear elastic foundation effect are considered on the circular curved nanobeam. The analytically Navier solution is employed to solve the governing equations. It is obviously detected that the natural frequencies of a curved nanobeams is substantially influenced by the elastic foundations. Besides, it is revealed that by increasing the thickness of curved nanobeam, the influence of surface properties and elastic foundations reduce to vanished, and the natural frequency and critical buckling load turns into to the corresponding classical values.
In this article, static analysis of a magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) beam subjected to various thermal loading and boundary conditions has been investigated. Influence of pyroeffects (pyroelectric and pyromagnetic) on the direct quantities (displacements and the potentials) of the MEE beam under different boundary conditions is studied. The finite element (FE) formulation of the MEE beam is developed using the total potential energy principle and the constitutive equations of the MEE material taking into account the coupling between elastic, electric, magnetic and thermal properties. Using the Maxwell electrostatic and electromagnetic relations, variation of stresses, displacements, electric and magnetic potentials along the length of the MEE beam are investigated. Effect of volume fractions, aspect ratio and boundary conditions on the direct quantities in thermal environment has been determined. The present investigation may be useful in design and analysis of magnetoelectroelastic smart structures and sensor applications.

A thermo-elastic system in the production machine has highly nonlinear dynamic characteristics. In general, the finite element method is utilized for accurate analysis. However, it requires large computing time. Thus, thermo-elastic systems are usuallymodeled as electric and fluid system using lumped para, eter. In this paper. we propose the bondgraph model and transient simulation methodology of thermo-elastic system in consideration of various boundary and joint contact conditions. Consequently, the proposed method ensures a possibility of its on-line compensation about undesirable phenomena by using real time estimate process and electronic cooling device for thermal appropriate behavior. Thermo-elastic model consisting of bush and shaft including contact condition is presented.

A large floating structure is attracting great attention in recent years from the view of ocean space utilization. Its huge scale in the horizontal directions compared with the wavelength and relatively shallow depth make this type of floating structure flexible and its wave-induced motion be characterized by the elastic deformation. In this paper, a boundary integral equation method is proposed to predict the wave-induced dynamic response mat-like floating offshore structure. The structure is modeled as an elastic plate and its elastic deformation is expressed as a superposition of free-vibration modes in air. This makes it straightforward to expand the well-established boundary integral technique for rigid floating bodies to include the hydroelastic effects. In order to validate the theoretical analysis, we compare with the experimental result of reduced model test. Satisfactory agreement is found between theory and experiment.
