Degradation Characteristics of Mobility in Channel of P-MOSFET's by Hot Carriers (핫 캐리어에 의한 피-모스 트랜지스터의 채널에서 이동도의 열화 특성)

  • We have studied how the characteristics degradation between effective mobility and field effect mobility of gate channel in p-MOSFET's affects the gate channel length being follow by increased stress time and increased drain-source voltage stress. The experimental results between effective and field-effect mobility were analyzed that the measurement data are identical at the point of minimum slope in threshold voltage, the other part is different, that is, the effective mobility it the faster than the field-effect mobility. Also, It was found that the effective and field-effect mobility. Also, It was found that the effective and field-effect mobility of p-MOSFET's with short channel are increased by decreased channel length, increased stress time and increased drain-source voltage stress.

Buckling analysis of semi-rigid gabled frames

  • It is intended to perform buckling analysis of steel gabled frames with tapered members and flexible connections. The method is based on the exact solutions of the governing differential equations for stability of a gabled frame with I-section elements. Corresponding buckling load and subsequently effective length factor are obtained for practical use. For several popular frames, the influences of the shape factor, taper ratio, span ratio, flexibility of connections and elastic rotational and translational restraints on the critical load, and corresponding equivalent effective length coefficient are studied. Some of the outcomes are compared against available solutions, demonstrating the accuracy, efficiency and capabilities of the presented approach.

  • The critical load of a continuous compression member was determined by the beam-analogy method. The proposed method utilizes the stress-analysis results of the analogous continuous beam, where imaginary concentrated lateral load changing its direction is applied at each midspan. The proposed method gives a lower bound error of critical load and can predict the span that buckles first. The effective length factors for braced frame columns can be easily determined by the present method, but result in the upper bound errors in all cases, which can lead to a conservative structural design.

Effective length factor for columns in braced frames considering axial forces on restraining members

  • The effective length factor is a familiar concept for practicing engineers and has long been an approach for column stability evaluations. Neglecting the effects of axial force in the restraining members, in the case of sway prevented frames, is one of the simplifying assumptions which the Alignment Charts, the conventional nomographs for K-Factor determination, are based on. A survey on the problem reveals that the K-Factor of the columns may be significantly affected when the differences in axial forces are taken into account. In this paper a new iterative approach, with high convergence rate, based on the general principles of structural mechanics is developed and the patterns for detection of the critical member are presented and discussed in details. Such facilities are not available in the previously presented methods. A constructive methodology is outlined and the usefulness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by numerical examples.

  • Generally main girders and steel piers of temporary bridges form the steel rahmen structure. In this study, the rational stability design procedure for main members of temporary bridges is presented using 3D system buckling analysis and second-order elastic analysis. 2 types of temporary bridges, which are possible to be designed and fabricated in reality, are chosen and the buckling design for them is performed considering load combinations of dead and live loads, thermal load, and wind load. Effective buckling length of steel piers, effects of live loads on effective length of main members, transition of ~id buckling modes, and effects of second-order analysis are investigated through case study of 2 temporary bridges.

Performance of cold-formed steel wall frames under compression

  • This study presents the strength of braced and unbraced cold-formed steel wall frames consisting of several wall studs acting as columns, top and bottom tracks, and bracing members. The strength and the buckling mode of steel wall frames were found to be different due to the change of bracing type. In addition, the spacing of wall studs is a crucial factor to the strength of steel wall frames. The comparisons were made between the test results and the predictions computed based on AISI Code. The related specifications do not clearly provides the effective length factors for the member of cold-formed steel frame under compression. This paper proposes effective length factors for the steel wall frames based on the test results. A theoretical model is also derived to obtain the modulus of elastic support provided by the bracing at mid-height of steel wall frames in this research.

  • Resonance of the bridge can be occurred with the coincidence between a natural frequency of the bridge and a crossing frequency of moving loads which is determined from the speed and effective beating interval of the vehicle. In case of the railway bridge, the effective beating interval of the vehicle is fixed under the passage of specific trains. In the present study, resonance and cancellation of the bridge subjected to moving high-speed train are analyzed with the variations of span length. A steel-concrete composite railway bridge is idealized by the combinations of plate elements and space frame elements. High-speed train is idealized with moving constant forces and a 3-dimensional full modelling. From analyzing dynamic responses of D.M.F of vertical displacement, maximum vertical acceleration of the slab, and end rotation according to the variations of span length of the bridge, design criteria of span length of the bridge which satisfies dynamic safety is discussed.

  • Concrete structures become more common in railway systems with an advancement of high speed train technologies. As the service life of concrete structures increases, structural strengthening for concrete structures may be necessary. There are several typical strengthening techniques using steel plate and fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials, which have their own inherent shortcomings. In order to enhance greater durability and resistance to fire and other environmental attacks, basalt fiber material attracts engineer's attention due to its characteristics. This study investigates bonding performance of basalt fiber sheet as a structural strengthening material. Experimental variables include bond width, length and number of layer. From the bonding tests, there were three different types of bonding failure modes: debonding, rupture and rip-off. Among the variables, bond width indicated more significant effect on bonding characteristics. In addition the bond length did not contribute to bond strength in proportion to the bond length. Hence this study evaluated effective bond length and effective bond strength. The effective bond strength was compared to those suggested by other researches which used different types of FRP strengthening materials such as carbon FRP.

  • Statement of Problem. Objective and quantitative measurement of implant stability is very important from implant installation to long-lasting maintenance period thereafter. Purpose of study. This study was to evaluate and compare two ISQ and PTVs on the implant stability measurements according to the increased effective implant length. Materials and methods. Twenty self-tapping fixtures were installed in the bovine scapula and in 10 of those for group I, ISQ and PTVs were obtained in the vertical/horizontal directions according to the increased effective implant length using $Osstell^{TM}$ and $Periotest^{(R)}$. After stability measurement, removal torques were measured between the after installation and after thread exposure group. Results. ISQ and PTVs showed decreased and increased values according to the increased abutment length. Apart from PTVs, ISQ values were shown higher in horizontal direction to the long axis of bone in both the after installation and the after thread exposure groups. Removal torque values were shown higher in after installation group. Conclusion. From the results of this study, implant stability measurement using resonance frequency analysis was more sensitive and discriminative than PTVs measurement.

Effect of Decreasing Body Weight with Plant Extracts Containing Rubi Fructus (복분자 함유 생약추출물의 체중 조절 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Obesity is one of causes of the all adult diseases. We investigated the body weight decrease effect of the selected plants by digestive enzyme activity inhibition test. In a preliminary test, Inonotus obliquus and Rubus coreanus Miq. were found to be effective. Based on this result & previous result, we manufactured the mixture of plant extracts named as Misol$^{TM}$. Misol is applied anti-obesity beverage and rice. When we administered Miso/ sub TM/ to rats, it was found to be effective in body weight decrease. Result that is experimented during 20 weeks, is effective body weight and total cholesterol, triglyceride decrease. In case of human, anti-obesity beverage administered group showed 5.65% body weight decrease, 4% waist length decrease and 6% abdomen length decrease respectively. And anti-obesity rice administered group showed 2.3 kg body weight decrease, 2.9 cm waist length decrease and 3.74 cm abdomen length decrease respectively. This body control effect was supported by plant extracts in the Misol, anti-obesity beverage and rice - administered group. From these results, we suggest that this functional food could be helpful for body weight controlling obesity.
