An Analysis on the Variables' Significance to 'Quality of Life' Based on the "2011 Seoul Survey" ("2011서울서베이"를 이용한 '삶의 질' 관련 변수의 유의성 분석)

  • General concern over 'Quality of Life(QOL)' has caused many researches, which compare nations' or cities' QOL by the normative criteria proposed by themselves. The fact that these are characterized by subjectiveness makes this study have a purpose of trying to enhance the intersubjectiveness by means of quantitive analysis to find the factors on the QOL. This study uses statistical methods such as multiple regression and factor analysis based on the secondary data from the "2011 Seoul Survey". The survey includes many items, for example happiness index and satisfaction for work, amenity, etc.. And the analysis tells three findings as follows; Firstly, five subcategories of happiness have relative importance in the order of (1)financial condition, (2)health, (3)social activities, (4)community relationship and (5)family life. These generally constitute the first factor extracted by factor analysis and named 'abundance-family-intimacy factor.' Secondly, the 'abundance-family-intimacy factor' and the 'information-danger factor' among five factors(the others are 'learning-giving factor', 'local patriotism-hope for rise factor' and 'amenity-comfort factor') have statistically significant effect to QOL. Thirdly, the first factor has positive effect, but the second has negative to QOL. Note is needed to the fact that the items on SNS and internet belong to second factor and to the result that these make QOL deteriorate. These results should be considered as having limited meaning of statistical aspect. But accumulation of following studies by quantitive approach is anticipate to make more practical and general meaning.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of beauty healthcare behaviors of middle-aged women on physical esteem and psychological well-being. The subjects of this study were middle-aged women in Seoul and Gyeonggi area, and surveyed for 6 weeks starting from October 26, 2020, and 334 words were used for analysis. The analysis method used the SPSS 26.0 program to perform frequency analysis, factor analysis, and reliability analysis. To find out the correlation between beauty healthcare, physical esteem, and psychological well-being for middle-aged women, correlation analysis and multi-regression analysis were performed. the statistical significance level was set to p<.05. It was confirmed that beauty healthcare behavior had a statistically significant effect on physical esteem and psychological well-being.

The effect of Service climate on Customer emotion and Customer satisfaction (기업의 서비스 풍토가 고객감정과 고객만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we further study the customer's positive emotion about the impact of different inherent service climate on the emotions and satisfaction of the customers who receive the service. Through this, the purpose was to present the direction of creating a service climate. As a research method, structural equation statistical analysis, such as measurement model analysis and structural model analysis, was performed using SmartPLS (v.3.2) for data collected in surveys. Looking at the research results, first, a company's service climate has a positive (+) impact on positive customer emotions: pleasure, pleasure, and happiness. This can be interpreted as an indication that creating a business climate for service is an important factor that elicits positive emotions from customers. Second, a company's service climate and positive customer emotion also have a positive impact on customer satisfaction. Finally, when a company's service climate affects customer satisfaction, happiness has the greatest mediating effect among several parameters. This demonstrated empirically that satisfying the happy feelings of customers is the most important of the company's service climate. Since this study is aimed at a small number of restaurant companies, there is a limit to generalizing the findings and applying them to all restaurant companies. Nevertheless, it is meaningful to study the emotions of positive customers when the service climate affects customer satisfaction, and we hope that the company's analysis of service climate will continue to improve customer satisfaction through various emotional analysis as well as positive factors.

Jay-Customer Behavior's Influence on Job Stress and Customer Orientation: Perceived Organizational Support's Moderating Effect

  • The study aimed to analyze jay-customer behavior's impact on service industry employees' job stress to understand the importance of personnel management. Additionally, it aimed to identify strategies for managing job stress by examining perceived organizational support's moderating effects. The results show that the subdimensions of jay-customer behavior (i.e., verbal aggression, physical aggression, and sexual harassment) positively influenced employees' job stress. Second, job stress acts as a mediator between customer verbal and physical aggression and customer orientation, but not between customer sexual harassment and customer orientation. Third, organizational support had a moderating effect on the association between customer verbal aggression and job stress. This study demonstrates how jay-customer behavior negatively affects employees and threatens their well-being. It not only enriches the research on jay-customer behavior but also provides implications for service companies toward developing internal marketing strategies for enhancing employee happiness and fostering customer orientation.

The Effect of Spending Distribution on Financial Well-Being among Young Working Women

  • Purpose: This study determines the effect of spending distribution, namely experiential, impulsive, self-expressive, prosocial, and conspicuous spending, on the financial well-being of young working women in Malaysia. Research design, data and methodology: This study employed a quantitative and deductive approach. A sample of 400 young working women was selected using a systematic sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (CB-SEM). Results: The findings revealed prosocial and impulsive spending as the significant spending distribution to affect financial well-being. The effect of prosocial spending is positive on financial well-being, while the effect of impulsive spending is a negative predictor of financial well-being. All other spending distribution - experiential, self-expressive, and conspicuous spending - do not have a significant effect on financial well-being. Conclusion: To achieve financial well-being, young working women need to distribute the spending budget for the happiness of others and reduce impulse buying. The findings provide useful insights on the significant role of spending distribution in influencing, how to fuel young working women to develop good spending habits that consequently improve their financial well-being, for themselves and Malaysian economics, as well as the plausible solution to overcome financial problems and high indebtedness.

Effectiveness and Persistence of the Effects of a Healing Agricultural Program using Insect Resources (곤충자원을 이용한 치유농업프로그램의 효과와 지속성)

  • This study aimed to investigate the psychological effect of a healing agricultural program using insect resources and to confirm the persistence of the healing effect. The applied insect was silkworm Bombyx mori (Linnaeus) and 28 adolescents from local children's centers were used as the subjects. The healing agricultural program was applied at the centers for 4 weeks, and stress was measured using salivary α-amylase levels and a survey on life satisfaction, happiness, and insect preference. The results indicated that stress levels decreased, and life satisfaction and insect preference increased after participating in the the healing agricultural program. Furthermore, it was confirmed that this healing effect continued until 4 weeks after the end of the program.

  • When adolescents undergo the period of transition, they need to promote self-confidence from social support by parents, teachers or friends. It was believed that boosting subjective perception on their main areas of interest such as academic performance, appearance and fashion will result in happiness. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of social support including family support, teacher support and friend support on self management, appearance satisfaction and fashion opinion leadership. A total of 412 questionnaires from the middle and high school students living in or near Seoul were collected and analyzed. The results indicated that teacher support and family support had a positive effect on self-management and family support had a positive effect on appearance satisfaction. Furthermore, friend support had a positive effect on fashion opinion leadership. In conclusion, implications for promoting self-confidence related to self-management, appearance satisfaction and fashion opinion leadership with the help of social support are suggested.

The effect of subject awareness level of oral health on the quality of life for adult patients who visit hospitals and neighborhood clinics in Busan (부산지역 병의원을 내원하는 성인의 구강건강인식수준이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life according to the level of subjective perception as well as to analyze the influencing factors and improve the subjective perception to improve the quality of life. The results of the survey for adult patients in hospitals and neighborhood clinics in the region of Busan for nine months from December 2015 were as follows. Regarding the total symptoms, the women had a score of 1.41, and the younger respondents felt they suffered from no symptoms. An analysis of the quality of life by the general characteristics showed that the respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 54.71 on the OHIP-14. The respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 6.48 when a single item was used to determine their happiness index, and the respondents who were better educated and had no systemic diseases had a higher score of 3.82 when five items were used to rate their happiness index. The factor with the greatest influence on their scores on the OHIP-14 was the total symptoms, followed in order by the happiness index and self-rated oral health status. The variable that exerted the largest influence on the happiness index was the OHIP-14, followed by the self-rated health status, high-school or lower education, and the presence or absence of one or more chronic disease. Therefore, an improvement in the subjective awareness level is required to boost the quality of life, and a variety of health education programs should be prepared to raise the awareness level. In addition, there should be a chance to convey accurate information.

A Convergence Study on association of Internet Use Time with Perceived Status in Adolescents (청소년 인터넷 사용시간이 청소년 주관적 상태에 미치는 영향에 대한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the internet use time that young people use for purposes other than learning purpose, to grasp the perceived status of the youth according to internet use time and to grasp the interrelationships of them. Using the 2016 youth health behavior online survey, the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of perceived status according to internet use time were calculated by binary logistic regression analysis. The main results are as follows. In perceived health and perceived oral health the odds ratios of perceived who feel that they are perceived and unhealthy as the time spent using the Internet increased significantly compared to those who did not use the Internet for learning purposes. In the perceived body type, the odds ratio of being overweight increased significantly with longer internet use time. The odds ratios of perceived happiness were 1.19 times (CI = 1.10-1.30) higher than the perceived expectation of unhappiness when using the Internet for over 300 minutes. The use of the internet for a long time other than the purpose of learning may have a negative effect on the health and happiness of the youth, so we think that the recommended time for using the internet is necessary.

Korea's Designation of Living Happiness Sphere in the Local Area from the Perspective of New Institutionalism (지역행복생활권 획정에 대한 신제도주의적 접근)

  • Park Geun-hye Administration has been leading HOPE Area(Living Happiness Sphere) policy as a part of strategy for the regional development. Recent study on HOPE Area policy mainly focuses on how to enhance cooperation among local governments or how to activate the HOPE area. However, as far as I found, the research on how HOPE area guideline as an institution is made and how HOPE area, the effect of the institution, is demarcated has not well been conducted. With based on these issues, this article aims to identify and examine the process of the HOPE area guideline-making and the designation of the HOPE area. For this purpose, new institutionalism is utilized for the analysis. The guideline was made through competition and compromise among a few parties concerned rather than a decision by unitary elite group, and the final outcome of the process reflected the balanced development strategy more than the growth pole development strategy. There was a tendency that the local governments try to make many HOPE areas by overlapping the HOPE areas, which are the outcomes of the bottom-up approach. In Seoul metropolitan area, a new type of HOPE area was introduced one year later than the other local regions.
