클라우드 기반 인공지능 교육 플랫폼 구현 (Implementation of Cloud-Based Artificial Intelligence Education Platform)

  • 빅데이터 분석 및 AI 개발자에 대한 수요가 증가하지만 이를 공급할 교육 기반이 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 클라우드 기반 인공지능 교육 플랫폼을 개발하여 교육기관 및 IT기업에서 실무 중심의 실습 교육을 저비용, 고효율로 학습할 수 있는 환경 구축에 목표를 두었다. 교육 플랫폼의 개발은 사용자별 시나리오 기획, 아키텍처 설계, 화면 설계, 개발 기능 구현, 하드웨어 구축으로 진행하였다. 본 교육 플랫폼은 쿠버네티스 기반으로 컨테이너화된 워크 로드와 서비스관리 플랫폼, 강사·수강생을 위한 강의 및 개발 플랫폼으로 구성되어 있으며, 실시간 알람 시스템과 에이지 테스트로 클라우드 안정성을 확보하였고, CI/CD 개발 환경을 제공하며, 도커 이미지 배포를 통한 신뢰성을 확보하였다. 본 교육 플랫폼의 개발로 교육분야 신사업 진출의 기회를 확대하고 AI 및 빅데이터 분야의 실무 인력양성에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

The Accessibility of Taif University Blackboard for Visually Impaired Students

  • Online learning systems are becoming an effective educational medium for many universities. The accessibility of online learning system in universities means that every student, including the visually impaired, is able use all the site's services. This research focuses on investigating the accessibility of online learning systems for visually impaired users. The paper purpose is to understand the perception of visually impaired undergraduate students towards Blackboard's accessibility and to make recommendations for a new Blackboard design with accessible features that support their needs. Impact of a new Blackboard design with accessible features on visually impaired students, using Taif University students as a case study is evaluated in this paper, as it is similar to most learning systems used by Saudi universities. A study on Taif University's utilization of Blackboard was conducted using mixed method approaches (an automatic tool and a user study). In the first phase, Taif's use of Blackboard was evaluated by the web accessibility tool called AChecker. In the second phase, we conducted a user study to verify previously discovered accessibility challenges to fully assess them according to the accessibility and usability guidelines. In this study, the accessibility of Taif University's Blackboard was evaluated by thirteen visually impaired undergraduate students. The results of the study show that Blackboard has accessibility issues, which are confusing navigation, incompatibility with assistive technologies, untitled pages or parts, unclear identification for visual elements, and inaccessible PDF files. This paper also introduces a set of recommendations that aim to improve the accessibility of Blackboard and other educational websites developed for this population. It also highlights the serious need for universities to enhance web accessibility for online learning systems for students with disabilities.

Research on a handwritten character recognition algorithm based on an extended nonlinear kernel residual network

  • Although the accuracy of handwritten character recognition based on deep networks has been shown to be superior to that of the traditional method, the use of an overly deep network significantly increases time consumption during parameter training. For this reason, this paper took the training time and recognition accuracy into consideration and proposed a novel handwritten character recognition algorithm with newly designed network structure, which is based on an extended nonlinear kernel residual network. This network is a non-extremely deep network, and its main design is as follows:(1) Design of an unsupervised apriori algorithm for intra-class clustering, making the subsequent network training more pertinent; (2) presentation of an intermediate convolution model with a pre-processed width level of 2;(3) presentation of a composite residual structure that designs a multi-level quick link; and (4) addition of a Dropout layer after the parameter optimization. The algorithm shows superior results on MNIST and SVHN dataset, which are two character benchmark recognition datasets, and achieves better recognition accuracy and higher recognition efficiency than other deep structures with the same number of layers.

미국과 한국의 공학교육인증 체제 비교에 대한 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Comparison Between Korea and America in Accreditation System of Engineering Education)

  • 본 연구에서는 EC2000 시스템하에서 2007년도에 공학교육 인증평가를 받은 한국의 A대학과 미국의 M 대학의 공학교육인증 체제를 비교, 분석하고자 한다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 해당 프로그램의 자체평가보고서 분석 및 홈페이지 검색을 실시하였다.한국과 미국의 공학교육인증 기준은 거의 대동소이하나 한국의 인증기준이 행정적인 지원 체제나 각 평가기준별 자율순환체제를 강조하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 인증평가별 체제를 살펴보았을 때 미국의 장점을 꼽아보면 체계적인 교육과정 운영과 설계교육, 교과목 중심의 프로그램 학습성과 평가 체제, 교수들의 연구 및 학생지도에의 지원 체제이다. 한국의 장점은 다원적인 지원 체제를 기반으로 하고 평가에서의 정량적인 지표 활용이 많기 때문에 이를 교육개선에 활용하기 쉬운 면이 있고, 학생포트폴리오의 활용을 통한 체계적인 학생 지도가 가능하다는 점이다.

  • 인터넷 기술의 발달로 인하여 웹 기반 학습이 증가추세에 있다. 웹 환경에서 학습도 전통적인 학습과 마찬가지로 학습 내용과 더불어 학습한 과정이나 결과에 대한 평가도 포함되어야 진정한 교육의 과정(Process)이 완성된다고 할 수 있다. 현재까지 웹 기반 학습의 평가는 학습의 결과나 지식 이해 위주의 평가가 주를 이루고 있으며 평가 결과에 대한 적절한 피드백이 제공되지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 학습자가 웹 기반 학습을 하는 과정에 평가를 할 수 있도록 하였으며 즉각적인 피드백의 제공으로 학습자가 자기주도적인 학습을 해 나가는데 도움을 주도록 하였다. 즉, 교사가 작성한 문제를 문제은행화하여 데이타베이스에 저장하고 주제어, 학년, 학기, 단원별 검색이 가능하도록 하였으며 각 문제마다 정답과 오답에 대한 피드백을 줄 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 학습자는 학습을 해 나가면서 문제를 풀고 즉각적인 피드백을 제공받음으로써 문제 해결에 도움을 주며 학습의 동기를 유발하여 웹을 통한 교수 학습의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

공학교육과 과학기술학(STS)의 학제적 협력 방안 탐색 (Interdisciplinary Cooperation between Engineering Education and Science and Technology Studies (STS))

  • This study reviews recently developed perspectives within Science and Technology Studies (STS) and engineering education including engineering ethics and engineering design, focusing on defining why interdisciplinary collaboration between those two areas is required and how it can be realized. The disconnection between those areas is closely related to the chronic diseases that has brought the mono-disciplinary, segmented educational system of 20th century: fragmented perception of reality and gradual loss of academic influence. This study consists of two sections: the first section reviews new movements among STS, engineering ethics and engineering design; the second section analyses how their combination is developing and what significance it represents. Recently, some scholars attach more importance to scalable scholarship of STS, that is, strategic expansion of the range of STS. This kind of attempts is gradually producing satisfactory results as it is combined with innovative efforts arising from the field of engineering education. This study emphasizes that, when STS and engineering education are combined and interact more with each other, it will broaden our prospects about engineering and society; it will, particularly, contribute to enhance our engineering education.

남성 싱글플리티드 팬츠 패턴비교분석 및 가상착의평가 (Comparative Analysis of Pants Pattern and Virtual Appearance Evaluation for Men's Single-pleated Pants)

  • This study aims to compare the ease of men's single-pleated pants patterns, and to analyze the fit and appearance through the 3D virtual garment system. The researchers selected five(four educational materials and one industrial pattern) slim-fit single-pleated pants which is the current fashion trend in menswear. The CLO 3D Modelist program was utilized to carry out the appearance evaluation through virtual wearing, opacity, and clothing pressure. The results showed that D pants had the greatest ease on the waist circumference, while C pants had the least ease. The E pants had the greatest ease on the hip circumference, then B pants and C pants showed less ease. Also, the E pants had the longest on the pants length, then D pants showed the shortest. In the appearance evaluation, A pants received the most favorable results, followed by D, B, E, and C pants, in descending order. The clothing pressure appeared to be mainly red on the waist, crotch, and hem in all pants, so the clothing pressure was high. From the results, we can understand that each of the 5 single-pleated pants patterns has different ease amount and silhouette.

도형적 창의력 검사지의 표준화에 관한 연구 - 디자인 전공 학생을 대상으로 - (A Study of Standardization on the Examination for a Diagrammatic Creativity)

  • 본 연구는 도형적 창의성을 요하는 전공분야의 대학생을 대상으로 제작된 창의력 검사지의 표준화의 준거를 제시하고자 하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 전국의 대학생을 학제별, 지역별, 학년별로 표집하여 방문 검사를 통하여 수집된 자료를 분석하여 표준화 준거를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 자료분석 절차로는 첫째, 문항의 양호 도를 밝히기 위하여 기초 통계 값, 문항-하위영역(요인)간 상관계수, 문항-전체검사간 상관계수를 측정하였고, 둘째, 척도의 양호 도를 밝히기 위하여 신뢰도 및 타당 도를 측정하였고, 셋째, 도구의 표준화를 자료를 통하여 분석하여 표준점수를 제시하였다. 양호도 분석 결과 본 검사지 구성의 3가지 요인(유창성, 융통성, 독창성)으로 도형적 창의력을 측정하기에 문제가 없으며, 표준화 분석에서 개인의 도형적 판단에 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe the design and implementation of an unmanned ground vehicle, called the TailGator at CIMAR (Center for Intelligent Machines and Robotics) of the University of Florida. The TailGator is a gas powered, four-wheeled vehicle that was designed for the AUVSI Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition and has been tested in the contest for 2 years. The vehicle control model and design of the sensory systems are described. The competition is comprised of two events called the Autonomous Challenge and the Navigation Challenge: For the autonomous challenge, line following, obstacle avoidance, and detection are required. Line following is accomplished with a camera system. Obstacle avoidance and detection are accomplished with a laser scanner. For the navigation challenge, waypoint following and obstacle detection are required. The waypoint navigation is implemented with a global positioning system. The TailGator has provided an educational test bed for not only the contest requirements but also other studies in developing artificial intelligence algorithms such as adaptive control, creative control, automatic calibration, and internet-base control. The significance of this effort is in helping engineering and technology students understand the transition from theory to practice.

Design, Development and Testing of the Modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle Platform for Marine Waste Detection

  • Mobile robots are used for years as a valuable research and educational tool in form of available open-platform designs and Do-It-Yourself kits. Rapid development and costs reduction of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) and ground based mobile robots in recent years allowed researchers to utilize them as an affordable research platform. Despite of recent developments in the area of ground and airborne robotics, only few examples of Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) platforms targeted for research purposes can be found. Aim of this paper is to present the development of open-design USV drone with integrated multi-level control hardware architecture. Proposed catamaran - type water surface drone enables direct control over wireless radio link, separate development of algorithms for optimal propulsion control, navigation and communication with the ground-based control station. Whole design is highly modular, where each component can be replaced or modified according to desired task, payload or environmental conditions. Developed USV is planned to be utilized as a part of the system for detection and identification of marine and lake waste. Cameras mounted to the USV would record sea or lake surfaces, and recorded video sequences and images would be processed by state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms in order to identify and classify marine and lake waste.
