  • This study is based on the criticism against life contempt tendency in the educational environment of our society. The purpose of this study is to find out the perception and expectation about the realities and formations of partnership between the home and early childhood educational setting of parents and teachers. The ultimate aim is to build a foundation which transforms educational settings into warm educational communities. The research participants were 4 mothers whose children attended the setting and 4 teachers of the early childhood educational setting (8 participants in total). The research results were as follows. The perception of the realities about partnership of parents and teachers was sub-categorized into four categories: 1)"partnership": essential aspect in children's positive development, 2) practicing with vague concepts, 3) lacking the awareness of companion or partnership, 4) disturbing cooperation between parents and teachers from external issues and problems. The expectation of parents and teachers about formation of partnership between home and early childhood educational setting was sub-categorized into five categories: 1) building of community consciousness for better partnership, 2) developing empathy and communication skills between parents and teachers for mutual understanding, 3) considering various strategies to promote partnership with different styles of parents, 4) activating teacher training and parent education in link with local universities and on-line, 5) providing support from the national level to establish new relationships between home and educational settings. Consequently, it will lead early childhood education settings to be transformed into warm educational communities which orientate respect for life.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of tasks setting for mathematical modelling in the complex real situations. The tasks setting(MMa, MeA) in mathematical modelling was so important that we can't ignore its effects to develop meaning and integrate mathematical ideas. The experimental setting were two groups ($N_1=103$, $N_2=103$) at public high school and non-experimental setting was one group($N_3=103$). In mathematical achievement, we found meaningful improvement for MeA group on modelling tasks, but no meaningful effect on information processing tasks. The statistical method used was ACONOVA analysis. Beside their achievement, we were much concerned about their modelling approach that TSG21 had suggested in Category "Educational & cognitive Midelling". Subjects who involved in experimental works showed very interesting approach as Exploration, analysis in some situation ${\Rightarrow}$ Math. questions ${\Rightarrow}$ Setting models ${\Rightarrow}$ Problem solution ${\Rightarrow}$ Extension, generalization, but MeA group spent a lot of time on step: Exploration, analysis and MMa group on step, Setting models. Both groups integrated actively many heuristics that schoenfeld defined. Specially, Drawing and Modified Simple Strategy were the most powerful on approach step 1,2,3. It was very encouraging that those experimental setting was improved positively more than the non-experimental setting on mathematical belief and interest. In our school system, teaching math. modelling could be a answer about what kind of educational action or environment we should provide for them. That is, mathematical learning.

  • Recently there are increasing concerns on quality improvement activities related to difficult economic situations, more competitive environment, health professional's emphasis on quality, and customer's needs in health care. The purpose of this study was to identify educational needs in the quality improvement for staff nurses. Study setting was an acute care hospital having more than 1000 bed in Seoul, Korea. The subjects were 40 staff nurses who participated in the first Quality Assurance(QA) inservice education. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire which consisted of four parts : QA knowledge and attitude(ten items, by five Likert scale), contents of QA education(ten items, by setting the priority), evaluation of the program(structure, time allocation, place, educational method), and general characteristics of respondents (age, duration to work for hospitals etc.) The response rate was 85%(34/40), Most had positive perspective and attitude about QI/QA activities, but 9% had negative impression and knowledge about this activities. Also they'd like to know the plan of hospital-level QI/QA activities, QI/QA current practice, general hospital system, the role of QA specialist and so on. Consequently, for building the quality improvement activities that is customer-focused, coordinated, outcome-oriented, resource-efficient, collaborative in Korea, at first the education about philosophy, theory, and implementation process of QI/QA should be conducted, and then that on QI/QA terminology, quality indicators development, the analysis and presentation of quality-related data and so forth be followed.

  • This research aims to analyze on the instruction effectiveness of ability grouping based on 'setting' and the result is as following. Superior group had a positive effect from the aspect of self-conception, satisfaction on class, and learning attitude while average and inferior group had a negative effect from the aspect of self-conception, satisfaction on class, and learning attitude. Therefore, the point seems to be that ability-grouping class based on 'setting' only helps the students in the superior group. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider the educational policy of variable curriculum classroom by achievement Level implemented by current ability-grouping. A method should be prepared to help all the students in superior, average, and inferior level.

To achieve the research objective, both quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted. For the qualitative study, the student's productions and reflections on the experience of the application of the DT into educational problems were analyzed. For the quantitative research, one-group pre and post-test were designed to validate the effectiveness of the DT method into educational contexts in terms of creativity level to measure the student's Creativity Potential and Practiced Creativity, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Problem-Solving Inventory. This study validated that the DT method had a statistically significant influence on those three competencies and also illustrated the detailed process from a qualitative viewpoint. The results and implications reflect the potential of the DT approach with the educational problem of practice, especially, in the ill-structured problem-solving contexts for student-centered instructional setting.

  • This study aimed at uncovering the experience of adaptation of the new nursing staff in hospital setting. Methods: For this study, 15 new graduate nurses participated. The data was collected through the in-dept interviews and analysed in terms of Strauss and Corbin′s grounded theory methodology. Results: The core category was identified with "entering orbit". The new graduate nurses, who experienced the taeoom because of their unskilled professions, tried to enter orbit by overcoming difficult situations through reducing stress, maintaining good interpersonal relationship, grasping, compensating, persisting, and introspecting. Noticeably, in the process of adaptation, negative image of nursing, conflict of interpersonal relationship and the educational program for the new nursing staff had effect on the intervening factors. Finally, this study confirmed that the processes of new nurses′ adaptation are confusing, confrontating, becoming a member and settling in hospital setting. Conclusion: Therefore, the educational programs reflecting new nursing staffs′ experiences should be developed.

  • In this study it is surveyed how the educational objectives of orientation in Library & Information Science under current school system should be formed and presented as follows; First, there are many obstacles in overcoming problems and setting successfully education of Library & Information Science under the school system by Ministry of Education. To get over this clear objectives and goals of education must be presented. According to clarified goal of education curriculums must be formed systematically. As a result it is suggested that setting goal of education emphasizing on paralleling of fortifying of theory and conducting practical business rather than training of Information specialist. Second, in analysis of curriculum of library & Information Science it is divided into five categories; (1) 'information organization', (2) 'reference/bibliographical information', (3) 'management of library/ information center', (4) 'informatics' (5) 'library & Information science in general', then courses of each category are arranged and analyzed. As a result balanced development among categories and education is required. In short educational goal of library & Information Science must show basic philosophy, ideal, and direction of education. In addition it is ideal that educational goal of Library & Information Science be presented concretely and in feasible way. Thus in this context the goal and objectives of library & Information Science must be devised and amended, su n.0, pplement as circumstances change.
