Curriculum Development of Elementary Teacher In-Service Training Program for Environmental Education (초등교사를 위한 환경교육 연수 교육 과정 개발)

  • Since Environmental Education in Elementary School is taught separately in various subject area, a well-founded and organized curriculum in integrated Environmental Education is needed to educate teachers for professional development. In this research, a curriculum for elementary teacher in-service training program was developed in order to improve both environmental and educational competencies of elementary school teachers. The curriculum was based on the needs analysis on Environmental Education training for elementary school teachers. Also it was based on international and updated perspectives on Environmental Education, Education for Sustainable Development. The curriculum consists of the introduction and the particular perspectives. The particular is made of 60 hours, which covers 6 perspectives on environment. They are ecological perspective, environmental ethics perspective, social-cultural perspective, economic perspective, environmental hygienic perspective, and environmental policy. Environmental policies of Korea and the world were included so that teachers will understand efforts made at national level and participate more to environmental action in their schools. Lesson objectives were specified for teachers to apply this curriculum to their classroom easily. Related elementary curriculum and textbook were indicated at the end of each lesson so teachers can link their training setting with their classroom setting. Especially, in this curriculum various teaching and teaming methods for each lesson are introduced. Thus, this re- search is very practical for elementary school teachers who are planning to teach environment in their classroom.

Study on Experience with Grandmother in Low-income Grandparent-headed Family (저소득 조손가정 조모의 양육경험 연구)

  • Based on phenomenological view a research utilizing qualitative methodology to understand about parenting difficulty and stress through an in-depth interview with grandmother in low-income grandparent-headed family was administrated. The results indicated that experience with parenting stress of grandmother in low-income grandparent-headed family lead to economic hardship, grandchildren who are a barrier of old-age, and desolate parenting. This article implicates that a basis to guide a direction and role of social welfare intervention to alleviate parenting stress of grandmother in grandparent-headed family and to improve a life quality emergent on the results could be provided. Several considerations on this finding shows as follows. First, with currently active support project re-monitored and re-checked, support program could be needed to enlarge. Second, support program development and social support to decrease parenting stress and depression of grandmother in grandparent-headed family could be necessary. With educational and cultural as well as mentoring program helpful for grandmother parenting designed, a support system to complement non-sufficient support network will be established together.

  • This program aimed at preparing the pre-service teachers to teach about North Korean family life culture to secondary school students, by promoting the understanding and acceptance of cultural differences between the two Koreas. Based on the literature review, the educational contents were developed to reflect general aspects of North Korean family life. The program was implemented with 35 undergraduate students in a home economics teacher education program. The program consists of 15 units of 150-minute instructional sessions. The first three introductory sessions dealt with the definitions of family life culture and multiculturalism, as well as a historical review of South-North relationship. The following nine sessions were devoted to North Korean family life culture in five different domains: consumption and leisure, family and child-caring, food and dietary life, housing and neighborhood life, and clothing/fashion. During the final two weeks, pre-service teachers conducted mock-teaching. For evaluation, pre- and post-session scores on general teaching efficacy and understanding of cultural differences were compared using paired t-tests. The pre-/post-test results confirmed that the program was successful in promoting the understanding and acceptance of cultural differences between two Koreas of pre-service teachers.

  • Purpose: The Study of vaccination for infants and children business in Primary Health Care Posts from 1980 to 2009. Method: look for national essential vaccination look for the change of vaccination by the times in Primary Health Care Posts and the rate of vaccination for infants and children by a administrative report statistics survey of a vaccine delivery system of Public health care institutions investigation about assistance details of vaccination cost in order to raise the rate of vaccination for infants and children. Results: In 1980s, there are many infants and children management object, but now there are rapidly decreasing infants and children management subject of a Primary Health Care Post because of rural exodus phenomenon of 1990's and a low birthrate of 2000's. Currently, the infants and children that registed, and managed to a Primary Health Care Post is most multi-cultural families. A multi-cultural family assistance program is provided these infants and children to the objects. Conclusions: Infant vaccination execution in Primary Health Care Posts showed to high vaccination rate because the prevention of vaccination delay or omission of the interior child who raised geographical accessibility to object sons nowadays it difficult to management of transportation of vaccine and storage management for a little shroud objects limited and management of inoculation business in quality. A main problem is as follows. There are a little vaccine transportation, trouble of proper temperature maintenance of a storage process, and having a lot of vaccine abolition as a little objects, educational training shortage of health care practitioner regarding to execute an inoculation. Therefore, vaccination business needs measures for management in quality in Primary Health Care Posts.

  • This study aims to investigate the Healthy Family Support Centers'(HFSCs) operational patterns and their programs by surveying 46 HFSC employees in order to prepare for the massive increase of the number of HFSCs nationwide. This study might contribute to not only rebuilding the HFSCs' operational strategies but suggesting visible ideas for the HFSCs' programs. Results were as followed: First, most HFSCs consisted of several teams, i.e., educational team, counseling team and cultural team. However, the number of employees in each team was different from one regional community to another. The most difficult task in the HFSCs' operation was publicity work. Citing the issue of system delivery difficulties, HFSC employees insisted that budgetary deficit was the most difficult obstacle in running the HFSCs. Second was in regards to the programs that each team was planning, performing, and evaluating for each program. The HFSCs' programs were mostly structured around family difficulties or problems that arise according to the family life cycle. Based on these study results, more unified and specialized programs for HFSCs should be developed. In order to achieve this related studies should continue to conducted.

The Status Quo of Humanities-Based Museum Education Program (박물관에서의 인문학 연계 교육을 위한 현황 분석)

  • Humanities-collaborated practices in various fields have been supported by several governmental policies as a way to overcome recent social problems. Museum, due to its roles in preserving and sharing cultural and historical heritage for the development of society and communities, has emerged as a key base for the humanities-collaborated practices. This study, in this context, aimed to analyze how the humanities-based museum education programs have been practiced in the museums, which, in turn, might provide a basic data for the future direction and development of the programs and the related governmental policy as well. For this purpose, this study first examined theoretical framework for the link between humanities and museum education, from which a survey was developed. The survey was conducted to 75 museum educators who have been in charge of humanities-based educational programs. The result showed that most programs seemed to reflect the basic direction and purpose of the humanities-linked with museum education. Yet, more needs were found in terms of the educational themes and methods which can facilitate multicultural literacy and reflective thinking and activities within experiential learning environments.

A Study on the Spatial Characteristics and the User's Satisfaction by Types of the Kids Cafes (키즈카페의 유형별 공간특성과 이용자 만족도 분석 연구)

  • There is a demand for a complex cultural space of play, leisure and education, a kids cafe, which will replace a playground just for kids as awareness for the need of a space where parents can spend leisure time with their own children and can take a rest grows, Thus, this study aims to find features for user satisfying kids cafes by conducting observations of the kids cafes and user survey. This study selected 12 kids cafes, 3 kids cafes per type (play focused, cafe or restaurant focused, education focused, multipurpose focused), in Seoul which were built after 2007 and conducted surveys on space planning and spatial characteristics by users and types and the level of satisfaction. As a result, the play focused kids cafes are used the most and the multipurpose focused kids cafes are used the second most. So the reason for using kids cafes is for the play of children. Also the overall satisfaction level for kid cafes were above the average except for the price. The result of this study showed that there was differences of satisfaction based on the type of user satisfaction, size of children space, finishes, colors, furniture and accessories, sanitary conditions. For the overall satisfaction, users were satisfied with the interior space, however, users were unsatisfied with functional parts, such as toys, foods and educational program. The results of the analysis showed that based on the types of the kids cafes, users' satisfaction rate for space size for the children, finishes, colors, furniture and accessories, sanitary conditions were different and for the functional parts, the satisfaction rate was different in all aspects. Also, in overall, the educational focused type users showed higher satisfaction rate than other users. Finally, the level of satisfaction is different by type of kids cafes and we have to consider the level of satisfaction of the users in order to plan kids cafes which meet the demand of the users.

Parenting Stress, Parental Behaviors and Need for Parental Education Relative to Children Characteristics of Young Women with Breast Cancer (젊은 유방암 환자의 자녀 특성에 따른 양육 스트레스, 양육 행동 및 부모교육 요구도)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore the parental stress, behaviors and need for parental education of young women with breast cancer and how these variables are related to their children characteristics. Methods: The subjects were 110 young women with breast cancer who have a child. Data were collected using questionnaire of parenting stress, parental behaviors and need for parental education. Results: The subjects reported many unmet needs for parental education, and have the highest level of need for education related to breast cancer. Women with daughters have higher level of need for parental education compared to subjects with sons. There was a negative correlation between parenting stress and parental behaviors and between parenting stress and need of parental education. Conclusion: As these results, the development and application of parental education program for mothers with breast cancer in the future should be considered with the demographic characteristics, the social and cultural environment, parenting stress, and parental behaviors of parents and children.

Changing patterns of marital love constructs among married men and women (결혼지속연수에 따른 한국 부부의 사랑구조의 변화 양상)

  • This study attempted to examine the changing patterns of marital love constructs among married men and women in Korea. It is based on our prior research that showed each of the 3 dimensions of marital love(intimacy, passion, and commitment derived from Stermberg’s Triangular Theory of Love) shaped U pattern as the marriage continued. We analyzed 1687 respondents’answers by principal axis factoring with contextual point of view including individual, familial, and socio-cultural development. The results are as follows. First, the love constructs of Korean men and women in their marriage show different qualitative patterns as the marriage continued. Second, intimacy is the most powerful indicator of love, coming out the first factor in all the stages of marital relationships. Third we can see marital stability from the locus of commitment with other components of love and it could be apply to marital educational program for promoting marital stability. Forth, passion is found separated behavioral from perceived dimension except the first marital stage. As conclusion, it need to analyze with family life cycle. birth and marriage cohort groups for examining closely the causes of this qualitative changes in marital relationships.

  • Tour is cultural method that makes educational effects smoothly, metaphorically. In a context, dark tour have a function that sustains memorial of accidents and with social meaning, ethic value. This study aims to understand practical solutions of Sewol-Ho memorial on focusing Dark Tourism. This paper considers fascination with this subject and examines explored for good decision. It means that we examines a construction of tour contents within the dark tourism. This article evaluates an dark tourism in a contents program various country, for considering in a case at a Sewol-Ho accident. As a result, we comment some variety choice of strategy effectiveness for a sustainability of ethic value and education memorial.
