Today internet based communication is being reinforced and the flexibility of purchase circumstances is being positively proceeded. The central axes of the production network of Sumsung shipbuilding are internationally Europe and Asian area, nationally Busan and Gyeongnam province and Seoul Metropolitan areas, locally inside subcontracting firms. • To find an efficient solution for the globalization of Korean food in Brazil, we conducted a survey about the satisfaction of Brazilian natives who had visited a Korean restaurant, and possible suggestions for improvement. We also conducted indepth interviews with 13 owners of Korean restaurants in Seo Paulo, Brazil, about their plans to improve Korean food to be more appealing to the Brazilian palate. Our research shows that Korean restaurants had a below average reputation for employee kindness, menu taste and variety, interior, mood, and accessibility. As a result of the survey, we found that Korean restaurants were considered in general to be below average. The survey also showed that the higher the level of a person's economic standing, the less satisfaction they had with Korean food restaurants. We also found that the most common pieces of advice that Brazilian women had regarding Korean restaurants were to offer more variety in the menu, maintain a cleaner restaurant, and to actively engage in public relations. The general concerns of everyone surveyed focused on cleanliness and public relations of the restaurant. However, food-related people focused more on the taste and quality of the food. Sao Paulo is currently the most well-developed economic center in South America, so the world's food service industry is pushed to the front of its ongoing development. For Korean food to make inroads into Brazil, Korean restaurants need to change the niche that they occupy. First-generation family businesses and second-generation specialized family businesses coexist in that city. So first of all, to localize the Korean food for Brazilian tastes, a menu system that will easily allow natives to access Korean food must be established. And second of all, it must support the total food culture by improving distribution, sanitation management, and marketing methods that can get the natives to like Korean food ingredients.

  • International trade environment is rapidly changing. Developing all economic activities included in the value chain of economy out of a particular country or region in the trends where globalization is spreading all over the world, 'a borderless world' has been created and become common throughout the world. Especially, in case of East Asian region, becoming the factory of the world, China has become a center of the world's economic activities in recent years; and the increase of regional investment among East Asian countries and trade expansion focused on China has been the factor of promoting the formulation of a regional trade network. SCM is an efficient way of adaptation to the complexity or uncertainty on the scene through the achievement of a sustainable competitive advantage by integrating the activities of improving the relationships in the supply chain. In this study, Sumitronics, a Japanese company, was studied as a case of the company who had implemented SCM effectively and efficiently utilizing the East Asian trade network. Not being engaged in the manufacturing processes in the headquarter, Sumitronics has implemented SCM which is capable of maximizing the responsiveness upon the requirements of customers by effective information sharing. In particular, the profits of the company have been maximized through SCM by its headquarter in Japan, which is capable of managing each base in East Asia as China and Southeast Asia, etc. Korean companies may also be able to create a new source of profit by dint of establishing SCM as such. The results of this case study has revealed that the implementation of an effective business model is the key of the successful implementation of SCM.

  • All the factors related in education of Korea are very important in the aspect of economic development. The numbers of students being in school from kindergarten through university approximate a quoter of Korean people. Nevertheless paradigm of commercialism in education has been excluded completely in discussion by the reason of 'educational objective' of education fields in Korea. So Korea's educational services have been confronted with various problems which could hardly be solved, and have lost global competitiveness with the development of globalization. The purpose of this paper is to examine the commercialism of educational services by analysing various social phenomena and government policies relating to educational services in Korea, and to find some alternatives which are able to introduce commercialism on educational fields in Korea. Methodology of this paper depends on the theoretical analysis. Major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, notwithstanding that the relative importance of education is the same to that of economy in Korea, the providers of educational services in Korea are against their commercialism problems. Second, it is suggested that the stereotyped idea, that is, the commercialism in educational services be excluded, should be removed above all. Third, in order to improve the competitiveness of educational services in Korea, it is recommended that the commercialism be recognized in a part and various strategies such as the s-SCM, educational service marketing, etc. be introduced. Fourth, we have to prepare for globalization of educational services through making the educational industry to exporting services.

  • This study examines the emerging global city-regions theory and suggests its implications for regional development policy in Korea. Global city-regions defined as an economic and political organization of metropolitan regions or a new scale of urban organization with polycentric structure, is appreciated as a new regionalist model of development in the globalization era. In Korea, the application of global city-regions model is required particularly for strengthening the international competitiveness of metropolitan areas except the capital region including Seoul, and resolving inequalities between the capital region and non-capital regions. However, Institutional revolution including consolidation of Shi(metropolitan area) and Do(province), and devolution should be preceded above all things to develop metropolitan cities such as Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon toward global city-regions.

  • This study investigates the impact of the use of the main local languages in Burkina Faso (Moore, Dioula, Fulfulde) on labor force participation. Using Ethnologue language data, I compute the relative language distance reduction index, after which I use a probit/logit model and instrumental variable approach to account for language use policy endogeneity. This study finds that the use of the Moore language increases the likelihood of labor force participation by 36 percent, with a strong impact on women at 59 percent, nine times higher than men, and 38.3 percent for rural individuals, five times higher than individuals living in urban areas. The Dioula language exhibits comparable trends, while Fulfulde has a negative impact on individuals. The study recommends the use of local language(s) as official language(s) to improve labor force participation. However, a bilingual approach combining local and international language(s) will be of use to account for globalization and international competitiveness. The findings here may be of use to researchers and policymakers as part of their effort to increase the labor force participation rates of women and rural individuals. Moreover, this research has significant implications with regard to the implementation of language use policies in a variety of postcolonial language contexts.
