Heavy metal equilibria in the Dongnam stream which receives the wastewater from mining activities are investigated to provide some basic data for the management of small stream with acid mine drainage. Saturation, undersaturation, and supersaturation of some heavy metal ions with respect to some mineral phases are evaluated by saturation index (logIAP/Ksp). The $Al^{3+}$ activities showed equilibrium with $AIOHSO_4$ solid phase below a pH of 6.0. The $Fe^{3+}$ activities appeared to be controlled by Fe $(OH)_{3(amorphous)}$ solid phase below a pH of 4.0. $Zn^{2+}$ activities appeared to be regulated by $ZnCO_3$ solid phase above a pH of 6.8. Some heavy metal activities appeared to be depended upon the pH.

Korean students ranked the 3rd out of 32 participating countries in the first cycle of PISA(Programme for International Student Assessment) science field, which assessed 15-years-old students' scientific literacy. PISA developed several variables such as parents' socio-economic status, parents' educational attainment, family wealth, and cultural possession, to investigate the effects of background variables on scientific literacy. On the other hand, motivation and engagement in science study were not given much attention, partly because science was the minor area in the first cycle of PISA. Therefore, PISA Korea developed a series of variables to collect data on students' learning motives and out-of-school activities in science as a national option. The results are as followings. First, Korea was found to be one of the PISA participating countries with the scientific literacy achievement least influenced by parents' socio-economic status, family wealth, and parents' cultural possession. Second, the degree of achievement in scientific literacy according to parents' educational attainment was in a positive correlation, similar to the overall tendency of PISA. Third, the most crucial learning motive for Korean students was their desire to develop scientific thinking abilities or obtain science knowledge. On the other hand, choosing jobs in the field of science or parental expectation was the least important learning motive. In particular, the motive for scientific learning was found to have a positive relationship with the degree of scientific literacy achievement. Therefore, the higher the students achievement, the stronger the motive for scientific learning in order to develop their ability to think scientifically or acquire science knowledge. Fourth, Korean students were shown to participate very little in out-of-school scientific activities other than watching TV programs related to science. Whatever the activities may be, the more actively involved students are in out-of-school scientific activities, the higher their scientific literacy achievement. Fifth, Korean girls were rather passive compared to boys in all areas, including science learning motive and out-of-school scientific activities. The gender difference was especially more pronounced in out-of-school scientific activities with wider gaps in such activities as reading scientific books or articles and visiting science-related web sites.
The purpose of this study is to develop promotion strategies for revitalizing mountain eco-villages through social economic support. In order to fulfill this purpose, this study analyzed operation conditions, income creation structures of 240 mountain eco-villages formed by Korea Forest Service, and reviewed systems for social economic support. As summarized in research outputs, this study confirmed that the activities of organizations for joint projects had not been properly implemented due to the absence of supporting systems following the construction of mountain eco-villages. In addition, 159 villages formed as experience villages could not be qualified for enterprise systems due to aging population and absence of network systems. As for income creation, as indicated by comparing net incomes for joint projects calculated based on the classification of village management evaluation, the average net income of 51 highly-rated villages was 22 million Won and that of 128 moderately-rated villages was 3.5 million Won. Experience-based projects and the sales of processed forestry products made by young adult associations or women's societies were major sources of income, and the absence of inner economic bases or villages' jobs caused young adults and returned farmers to focus on working for outside economic activities. Finally, this study developed strategies for mountain eco-village's social economic promotion and suggested four stages of social economic revitalization provisions.

This paper primarily aims to analyze the growth rate differentials of the economic activities in chung-Nam area. The research has been undertaken to find out the potentials of the economic activities and economic bases in the area. To analyze the economic potentials of the industries, the study employed the economic Growth Rate Differential Analysis by Henderson which is revised form of Shift-Share Analysis Methods. The research employed the employment data according to the standardized two-digit-classification-system during the period of 10 years from 1981 through 1991. The Growth Rate Differential Analysis calculates Total Growth Differentials which are dicomposed into two parts: Weight Part and Rate Part. Total Growth Differential can be calculated as the difference between national growth rate and regional growth rate by industry. The foundings are as follows: First, the economic bases of Chung-Nam area were found to be very weak, largely depending on primary industries such as agriculture and fisheries. Second, there was a great decline in urban industries in Tae Joeon, Cheon An and other cities over period of 1971-1981. It is strongly recommended that the planned items and products of each industrial complex must be reorgnized in a fashion to match those with high competitive power found in this research.
Over the last three decades, nuclear technology development has played a vital role in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Korea. This study, being the first of its kind, focuses on quantifying the actual economic contribution of nuclear technologies to economic development by evaluating the net benefit of the nuclear power with respect to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). An input-output analysis was employed as a methodological approach to analyze inter-industrial economic activities by calculating the industrial value added as a means of the economic contribution during the period of 1980 to 2005. The industrial value added of nuclear technologies was estimated from the construction and operation of nuclear power (backward-linked industrial value added) and from the industrial activities attributed to the electricity generated by the nuclear power (forward-linked industrial value added). It was found that the total net contribution of nuclear technologies as a percentage share of GDP amounted to 2.38% in 2005.
The objectives of this study were as follows: 1) To describe the group of selected disabled homemakers in terms of demographic and medical variables related to organizational activities in the home and family participation in household activities. 2) To identify those demograhpic and medical variables that were related to organizational activities in the home and family participation in household activities. 3) To identify relationship between organizational activities in the home and family participation in household activities. Questionnaires were given to the selected disabled homemakers living in Seoul. The sample was small(N=35) and it was not random; therefore generalizations could not be made to the population as a whole. Data were analyzed by mean, Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance by ranks, and Spearman rank correlation coefficients. Homemaker's organizational activities were measured by 16 items about physical and mental activities from Mumaw's Organizational Activities Index. Family participation in household activities was measured by 8 items about how often family members participated in two areas of household activities: house chores and extra-activities. The results were as follows: 1) The homemaker's higher organizational activities scores were associated with younger homemaker, higher the level of education, small households, and higher the economic status. The homemaker without children performed better organizational household activities. The homemaker with shorter the duration of disability performed better organizational activities. The homemaker who needed crutches for mobility performed better organizational household activities. 2) The homemaker who was younger, higher the level of education, with smaller households, and lower the economic level was helped by husband. Husband helped better the homemaker with shorter the duration of disability in household activities. 3) Factors affecting children's participation in disabled homemaker's house chores and extra-activities were the age of homemaker and the marital status. The homemaker was single and older, the children were more helpful. 4) Task standardization score was the highest among the factors of homemaker's organizational activities and families with a disabled homemaker participated more extensively than families with abled homemaker. 5) Significant intercorrelation was found between the dependent variables.
The study is a comparative analysis of the differences in economic activities of two rural villages near the city. It is the general notion that rural villages near large cities lose the characteristics of traditional rural villages and change the areas with urban characteristics due to the influence of urbanization. The survey also showed that Munho 4-ri and Jeongbae 1-ri in Gyeonggi-do have urban characteristics, such as population growth, agricultural activity reduction and non-agricultural activity increase, and community activity reduction. However, they also found that there were important differences in the future development patterns of the two villages. In other words, the reasons and purposes of migration of people moving to the two villages, the differences in the system of economic activity in the villages, and the differences in community cooperation are emerging. Therefore, the study shows that policies to develop rural villages near cities need to be implemented differently based on the characteristics of those villages.
Purpose - The objective of this research is to investigate not only the effect of a company creating shared value (CSV) influencing consumers' emotions that lead to prosocial consumer behavior but also the moderating effect of Companies' authenticity in the causal relationship between economic or social value of CSV and either gratitude or pride of consumers. Research design, data, methodology - The 9 hypotheses presenting the relationship among CSV, consumer's emotion and prosocial consumer behavior were proposed and tested in this study. Research data were collected from the surveying of 350 respondents over 20 years and the 340 samples were used to test the proposed hypotheses. SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used for statistical analysis such as reliability test, validity test and path analysis. Results - The results show that the economic or social value of corporate CSV activities affects positively consumer's gratitude or pride except for the relationship between social value of CSV and consumer's pride. The results also show that gratitude or pride of consumers affects positively consumers' prosocial behavior. We also found that there is a moderating effect of Companies' authenticity in the causal relationship between economic or social value of CSV and either gratitude or pride of consumers. Conclusions - Company's activities in creating shared value influences consumer emotions and pride, and although these activities induce gratitude, this does not apply to pride. In addition, when these shared value activities influence consumer emotions, the authenticity of the company has shown to have a moderating effect.

This study aims to examine the difference in the rurality of rural villages near a metropolitan city. It investigated the general status and economic activities of the two villages near Ulsan Metropolitan City to find out what the differences are and to diagnose the reasons for such differences and their impact on future changes in the villages. Through this survey analysis, it found that the two villages have been continuously experiencing a decrease in population over the last 10 years, despite being near large cities. In addition, it also identified the characteristics of the agricultural and livestock industries taking center stage in economic activities. In other words, although the cases are rural villages near a big city, it was shown that the village near a provincial city is basically based on agricultural characteristics. Regarding future prospects, on the one hand, in the case of Dagae-ri, the villagers expect that the current livestock industry-oriented activities may continue to develop. On the other hand, in the case of Shinhwa-ri, the residents think that the rural characteristics may be rapidly lost and urbanized. Based on these findings, this study suggests that rural policies for villages near large cities also need to be applied in a discriminatory manner, taking into account the basis on which economic activities in the villages are developed.
