  • Shotcrete (or Sprayed concrete) has been used as an important support material in New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). Since the mid of 1990, permanent shotcrete tunnel linings such as Single-shell, NMT (Norwegian Method of Tunnelling) has been constructed in many countries for reducing the construction time and lowing construction costs instead of conventional in-situ concrete linings. Among essential technologies for successful application of permanent shotcrcte linings, high performance shotcrete providing high strength, high durability, better pumpability has to be developed in advance as an integral component. This paper presents the Ideas and first experimental attempts to increase early strength and bond strength of wet-mixed Steel Fiber Reinforced Shotcrete(SFRS) in sump water condition. In order to increase early strength, a new approach using high-early strength cement with liquid alkali-free accelerator has been investigated From the results, wet-mix SFRS with high-early strength cement and alkali-free accelerator exhibited excellent early strength improvement compared to the ordinary portland content and good bond strength even under sump water condition.

  • Based on previous research and existing literature, this study examines the development of admixture, which increases the early concrete strength (1 and 3 day) by mixing blast furnace slag cement and concrete stimulant. The research on early strength development of concrete is necessary in dealing with the drawbacks of slow early strength concrete on site and to shorten the construction time. The study confirmed that when a high alkaline mortar mixture is mixed with blast furnace slag, the early strength of admixture exceeds that of ordinary portland cement (OPC). The use of calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$) promotes hydration of cement at low temperature and show similar strength as the blast furnace slag admixture. Although calcium chloride seems economically advantageous, it causes steel corrosion and its use in concrete should be further studied in-depth.

Whitetopping 포장재의 시험포설 및 시공품질에 대한 평가연구 (A Study on the quality of High Early Strength Concrete as Whitetopping Materials)

  • In road pavements, it is known that cement concrete pavement has superior durability. But in repairing pavement, cement concrete pavement is not usually applied because of the length of time while the road is interrupted when using Ordinary and Rapid-hardening Portland Cement. And Super High Early Strength Cement and Ultra Super High Early Strength Cement are not favorable for ready mixed concrete because of rapid setting time, high slump loss and other restrictions. We developed special cement developing 1 day strength of over 30.0N/$mm^2$ to open the road within 1 day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour so that it can be used as ready mixed concrete. We performed experimental overlay construction with concrete and evaluated the properties of the fresh and hardened concrete. The flexural strength was over 5.0N/$mm^2$ and the compressive strength was over 30N/$mm^2$ at 1 day. So it is thought that the road can be open to traffic within 1 day after placement.

  • 보통 포틀랜드 시멘트(Ordinary Portland Cement 이하 OPC)에 혼화재료를 사용하는 기존의 콘크리트는 초기 고강도를 발현하는데에 많은 어려움을 지니고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 그 방안으로 초미립자 시멘트(Micro Cement 이하 MC)의 사용에 대해 연구하고자 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과 MC는 OPC보다 플로우에서 취약함을 보였으나 초기강도에서 우수한 강도특성을 보였고 28일 강도에서도 OPC를 상회하는 것을 알 수 있었다. GBFS(granulated Blast Furnace Slag이하 GBFS라 함)의 경우 플로우는 감소하며, 초기강도는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. MC의 경우 플라이애시 혼입시 강도발현에 있어 도움이 되지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

Improvement of the Early Age Strength of Low Cement Concrete Using High Volume Mineral Admixture

  • To address the problem of global warming, consumption of cement, the main material of concrete, should be decreased. Unfortunately, when industrial by-products are used in large quantities as admixture, the early age strength of concrete will be decreased, reducing its viability for use in concrete structures. Therefore, in this study, the application of an ionization accelerator and alkaline activator as addition agent of superplasticizer were investigated to secure a similar early age strength to that of normal concrete, thus increasing the viability of low cement concrete. Through the investigation, it was found that specimens that used a combination of Alkaline-activator (Na2Sio3) and ionization accelerator (Amine) had the highest early and long-age compressive strength. From this, we can determine an appropriate range of application of superplasticizer to improve early-age compressive strength of low cement concrete.

  • The most recent building trend is going large, high rise, high strength as overlarge project is developing in domestic construction business. Belite cement has properties like low heat, excellent long term strength, and durability without admixture(fly ash, silica fume). so, Belite cement is suitable for mass structure which is needed high strength, high fluidity and low heat property. This study is to examine the possibility of site adoption microwave-use early strength estimation method. Based on the existed study related the portland cement, the interrelation between Belite cement and microwave-use early strength estimation method is required. In this study, interrelation between mortar and Evaluating strength estimation method is investigated before the concrete experiment.

콘크리트의 초기강도 발현에 미치는 시멘트 요인의 영향 (Influence of Cement Factor on the Strength Development of Concrete at the Early Age)

  • In this study, the influence of cement factor on the early strength gain and the other properties of concrete is discussed. According to the result, the setting time is faster in order of alumina cement(AC), high-early-strength cement(HSC) and ordinary Portland cement(OPC), and when OPC are replaced with HSC and AC, the final setting time is faster than when only OPC is used. At 10% replacement of AC, the instant setting happens. As the particle of cement is minute, setting time is shortened. As the properties of hardened concrete, the time when compressive strength of 5㎫, which the form can be removed, is gained is about 18 and 16 hours in the case of OPC and HSC respectively, and in the case of AC, it is about 5 hours. It also shows 16 hours at the replacing ratio of HSC of 50%, and 26 and 72 hours at the replacing ratio of AC of 5 and 10% respectively. And it shows 21, 16 and 12 hours with variation of fineness of cement, so early strength gain is fast with an increase of fineness. The coefficient of correlation between compressive strength and the rebound value is over 0.97, is very favorable. Therefore, if the rebound value of P type Schmidt hammer is more than 25, it is thought that the side forms can be removed.

We developed special cement developing 1 day strength of over 30.0N/mm$^2$ to open the road within 1 day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour so that it can be used as ready mixed concrete. We performed experimental overlay construction with the cement and evaluated the mechanical property and the durability. At curing temperature of 8-l8$^{\circ}C$,the flexural strength was 6.4N/mm$^2$at 1 day, so that the road can be open to traffic within 1 day. In durability test, the hardened concrete showed higher durability than Portland cement concrete.

경화촉진제와 조강시멘트를 사용한 시멘트 페이스트의 조기강도 발현 메커니즘에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Early Strength Development Mechanism of Cement Paste Using Hardening Accelerator and High-Early-Strength Cement)

  • 본 연구는 조강시멘트와 경화촉진제를 사용하여 조기강도 발현의 메커니즘을 분석하는 것이 목적이다. 연구결과 경화촉진제는 시멘트와의 수화반응시 $Ca(OH)_2$의 촉진시키는 것을 TG/DTA 실험을 통하여 검정하였다. 압축강도 측정결과 경화촉진제의 사용량이 증가 할수록 초기압축강도가 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 미소수화열 측정결과 경화촉진제는 시멘트의 성분중 $C_3S$의 수화반응을 촉진시키는 것으로 나타났다. XRD분석결과 재령별 수화생성물을 확인할 수 있었으며 경화촉진제의 사용량이 증가할수록 수화물들의 피크점이 높게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. SEM찰영을 한 결과 촉진제의 첨가량에 따라 $Ca(OH)_2$의 생성과 재령에 따라 C-S-H의 형상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 사용된 경화촉진제는 초기강도발현 시키는 것에 대해 효과적인 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

조강 및 포조란시멘트 의결경화촉진이 콘크리트 강도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Concrete Strength by Pozzolan and High-early Strength Cement)

  • 시멘트의결경화촉진(疑結硬化促進)으로 콘크리트의 초기압축강도(初期壓縮强度)를 얻음으로서 한중(寒中)콘크리트 공사시(工事時) 동해(冬害)를 예방(豫防)하고 보다 안전(安全)하게 구조물(構造物)을 축조(築造)하는데 도움을 얻고자 일반(一般) 포트랜드시멘트(TYPE I) 조강(早强)시멘트(TYPE II) 및 포조란시멘트를 사용(使用)하여 본시험(本試驗)을 실시(實施)한 것이다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 보통(普通)포트랜드시멘트(TYPE I) 보다 조강(早强)시멘트(TYPE II)가 초기강도(初期强度)가 높았고, 2. 조강(早强)시멘트로 만든 콘크리트 초기강도(初期强度)의 증진(增進)으로 공기(工期)를 최대한(最大限)으로 단축(短縮)시킬수 있어 한중(寒中)콘크리트 공사시공(工事施工)에 적합(適合)하겠다. 3. 조강(早强) 및 포조란은 높은 분말도(粉末度)로 외기(外氣)에 대(對)한 풍화작용(風化作用)이 촉진(促進)될 우려(憂慮)가 있으므로 저장기간(貯藏期間)이 짧아야 하겠다. 4. 국내(國內)에서 생산(生産)되는 포조란시멘트가 조강현상(早强現象)을 나타냄으로 이에 대(對)한 시험(試驗)이 계속 필요(必要)하겠다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)는 공사현장(工事現場)에서 유효하게 적용(適用)될 것으로 믿는다.
