An Analysis of Factors Influencing Preservice Early Childhood Teachers' Education Commitment - Focusing on Education Practicum, Teacher Efficacy, Emotional Intelligence - (예비 영·유아교사들의 교육헌신에 영향을 미치는 요인분석 - 교육실습, 교사 효능감, 정서지능을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to cultivate the attitudes of preservice early childhood teacher's commitment by analyzing the effects of education practicum, teacher efficacy, and emotional intelligence on teacher's education commitment and analyzing the relationship between them. To this purpose, a total of 150 questionnaires were distributed to 75 preservice early childhood teachers of the metropolitan area from November 1, 2018 to March 2019. The results of the study were as follows: First, education commitment of preservice early childhood teachers was positively correlated with teachers' efficacy, emotional intelligence, and education practicum experiences. Second, education commitment increased when the emotional intelligence increased before the education practicum experience, and education commitment increased when the teacher's efficacy increased after education practicum experience. In light of these, It suggests that programs or content education that can strengthen emotional intelligence are effective before education practicum. and that programs or content education that enhance teacher efficacy capacity are more effective after education practicum.

The Effect of Cooperative Learning-Oriented Teaching Methods by Subject on the Communication and Problem-Solving Ability of Pre-service Early Childhood Teachers (협동학습중심의 교과별교수법 수업이 예비유아교사의 의사소통능력과 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data on pre-service teacher's education based on cooperative learning-oriented teaching and learning methods by applying cooperative learning to verify the effectiveness of pre-service early childhood teacher's communication and problem-solving ability. In the first semester of 2021, 4th grade students who took the teaching method by subject class opened by department of early childhood education at C university were taught for 11 weeks from March 1st week to May 2nd week in 2021 for 4 hours a week. The results of this study were as follows: First, the average score of interpretive ability was the highest in the sub-areas of communication ability of pre-service early childhood teachers, followed by message conversion ability, role performance ability, self-presentation ability, and goal setting ability in the cooperative learning-oriented teaching method by subject class. Second, in terms of the overall average score of pre-service teacher's problem-solving ability, the average score of post-test was increased compared to the average score of pre-test. Through the cooperative learning-oriented class experience in the university's early childhood teacher training course, it is possible to cultivate the practical ability that can be used variously for the children such as communication ability and problem-solving ability in the early childhood education field. Therefore, it is necessary to provide opportunities for cooperative learning-oriented teaching methods in the teacher's education curriculum.

Comparison between Early Childhood Teachers and Mothers in Perception of Oral Health Behavior and Education for Children (일부 유아교사와 어머니의 유아구강건강행동 및 구강건강교육에 대한 인식 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare between early childhood teachers and mothers in oral health knowledge, oral health care behavior, and perception of oral health education. The subjects in this study were 90 early childhood teachers who worked in all of kindergartens and child-care centers and 235 mothers who have young children (aged from 1 to 5) in 2 kindergartens and 2 childcare centers Y region. They completed questionnaires about oral health knowledges, oral health care behaviors, and perception of oral health education. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, and Fisher's exact test of SPSS WIN. The results were as follows: 1. There was not statistically significant difference between early childhood teacher's knowledge about oral health and mothers'. 2. There was statistically significant difference between early childhood teachers' oral health care behaviors for children and mothers' in prevention of cavity, keeping toothbrushes, guiding oral health behaviors, and check up at dentist's. 3. There was statistically significant difference between early childhood teachers' perception of interest and experience in oral health education and mothers'. Therefore, There was not difference between early childhood teacher's knowledge about oral health and mothers. But early childhood teachers more frequently carry out preventing of cavity, keeping toothbrushes, guiding oral health behavior to their children than mothers. Mothers were more interested in oral health than early childhood teachers. And Mothers wanted to be educated about children' oral care and early childhood teachers wanted to be educated about guidebook and media of oral health education.

The Effects of Early Childhood Teachers' Happiness on Ego Resilience and Job Engagement (유아교사의 행복감이 자아탄력성과 직무열의에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of happiness of early childhood teachers on ego resilience and job engagement. The study subjects were 243 teachers who were working in early childhood education institutes located in K and D area. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 Program. The study results are as follows. First, it was identified that the level of happiness, ego resilience, and job engagement of early childhood teachers were high. Secondly, happiness, ego resilience, and job engagement of early childhood teachers had a statistically significant correlation. Thirdly, the explanation power of happiness for ego resilience was 18% and self-acceptance, a subfactor of ego resilience, had an effect. Also, the explanation power of happiness for job engagement of early childhood teacher was vitality of 23%, and it was found to affect the subfactors of vitality of job engagement in the order of self-acceptance, positive personal relationship, and control over the environment. Also, the explanation power of happiness factors for undivided attention of early childhood teacher was 17%, and self-acceptance and positive personal relationship had a significantly positive effect on the undivided attention of teachers. Lastly, the explanation power of happiness factors for absorption of early childhood teacher was 14%, and self-acceptance among happiness factors of teachers had a significantly positive effect on the undivided attention of teachers. These study results suggest that the quality of early childhood education and happiness should be improved for the early childhood teachers and this may be a positive factor for the improvement of ego resilience and job engagement.

Analysis of Creativity Research Trends Related to Early Childhood Teachers : Focusing on Domestic Thesis (유아 교사 관련 창의성 연구 동향 분석 : 국내 학위 논문 중심으로)

  • This study aims to provide basic data for revitalizing creativity research related to early childhood teachers by analyzing creativity research related to early childhood teachers. For this study, 103 master's and doctoral dissertations in Korea, which were searched through the National Assembly Library and the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), were selected under the themes of 'early childhood teacher', 'creativity', and 'creativity research trends'. The frequency and percentage were calculated by analyzing creativity research related to early childhood teachers with five criteria: research period, research content, research method, research subject, and creativity factor. As a result of the study, first, as for the trends of creativity research related to early childhood teachers, 91 master's theses (88.3%) and 12 doctoral theses (11.7%) were conducted from 1991 to 2022, focusing on master's theses. Second, trends by research content were found in 20 basic studies (19.4%) and 83 practical studies (80.6%). Creativity research related to early childhood teachers is being actively conducted centering on practical research. Third, trends by research method showed 96 quantitative studies (93.2%), 7 qualitative studies (6.8%), and 0 literature studies (0%). Creativity studies related to early childhood teachers were being conducted with a focus on quantitative research. Fourth, the trend by research subject consisted of 100 studies (97.1%) related to early childhood teachers and 3 studies (2.9%) related to pre-service early childhood teachers. Fifth, trends by creativity factor were found in 56 studies (54.4%) related to teacher's variables and 47 studies (45.6%) related to creativity education methods. Studies related to teacher's variables were relatively higher than creativity education methods. As a result of this study, there is a lack of Christian education research in creativity research related to early childhood teachers, so it is expected that it will be done in the future.

Teacher Recognized Toddler-teacher Relationships Compared with Observed Toddler-teacher and Toddler-peer Interactions in Play (교사가 인식한 영아-교사 관계와 놀이 시 나타난 영아-교사 및 영아-또래 상호작용)

  • This study examined how infant-teacher relationships perceived by teachers related to observed toddler-teacher and toddler-peer interactions in play. Participants were 57 2-year-old toddlers and their 8 teachers. Toddler-teacher perceived relationships were examined by questionnaire toddler-teacher and toddler-toddler interactions were observed and recorded during play. Data were analyzed by correlation. Results were : (1) the perceived relationships of toddlers to multiple teachers in the classroom were very similar. (2) The pattern of interactions between toddlers and teachers was similar to that of interactions between toddlers and peers. (3) The more positive the toddler-teacher perceived relationship, the more positive the observed interactions between the children and teachers and between children and their peers.

The Composition of Curriculum to Improve ICT Instructional Media Competency of Early Childhood Teacher (유아교사의 ICT 수업매체 역량 강화를 위한 교육과정 구성 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an ICT-oriented teacher curriculum in order to improve early childhood teacher's competency using ICT instructional media. To this end, a survey was conducted to investigate the importance and current level of early childhood teacher's competency. After identifying the necessity of ICT instructional media competency, the contents of an ICT-oriented teacher curriculum were designed. A survey of teacher competency among 207 teachers showed the highest educational need for ICT instructional media competency. In addition, ICT-based teacher curriculum was classified into ICT literacy education and ICT utilization education based on the analysis results of sub-indexes on ICT instructional media competency. Each part was hierarchized into three levels of awareness, application, and spread according to the teacher's competency level and the educational contents were suggested based on the goals set for each level. In this study, it consisted of ICT literacy education, including understanding educational policy related to ICT utilization, understanding the goals and assessment of the ICT curriculum and ICT utilization education, including the use of teaching and learning methods, application of digital technology, ICT learning environment building and management for developing teacher professionalism related to ICT instructional media.

A study on Teacher's Perception, the actual condition for the Early Childhood Character Education depend on Teacher's Personality (유아교사의 인성에 따른 유아 인성교육의 인식 및 실태)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out difference by early childhood teachers' personality and individual factor. Also we wanted to find out the status, need and awareness of character education for early childhood education. Our targets are 194 early childhood teachers who are working in D city in Chungcheongnam-do. We analyzed out data with by SPSS 21.0 program. The results show that First, there was significantly difference in teachers' personality by career and age. Second, while early childhood teachers sympathize importance and need of personality education, absence of methods for practice is obstacle. Third, A high level personality group notices that respect for early children' life, humanity and virtue of relationship is importance virtue. Fourth, Therefore they consider respecting people as aim of personality education and recognize that they need to teach right values through whole area as education contents. Fifth, A low level personality group notices that performance of their duty and manners of early children is needed virtue. They consider manners education as aim and content of personality education also recognize guiding with connecting home teaching is desirable. So, teachers need, above all, chance for reflective thinking by themselves for early childhood character Education.

The Effects of Early Childhood Education Teachers' Working Conditions on Professionalism: Considering the Mediating Effects of Teacher Efficacy and Well-being (유아교사의 근로여건이 전문성에 미치는 영향 분석 -교사의 웰빙과 효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로-)

  • Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' current working conditions such as welfare and wages, working hours, ECEC center's environmental characteristics, and parental involvement and community engagement on the professionalism of teachers. Method: A total of 988 respondents participated in the nationwide online survey. The data were analyzed by correlation analysis and structual equation modeling. Results: First, there were no statistically significant direct effects of ECEC teachers' working conditions on teacher professionalism. Second, there were significant direct effects of teacher efficacy and well-being on teacher professionalism. Third, there were significant indirect effects of teachers' working conditions on their professionalism, via efficacy and well-being, linking the impact of working conditions and the professionalism of teachers. Conclusion/Implication: The results of this structural model imply that policy input for teacher welfare, wage increases, and the enhancement of teachers' well-being and efficacy are valid and significant for the professional development of ECEC teachers. These results provide the data-driven evidence for the importance of welfare and socio-cognitive approaches for teachers.

Influence of Director's Leadership on Teachers' Empowerment and Organizational Effectiveness in Early Childhood Educational Institutes (유아교육기관 원장의 리더십이 유아교사의 임파워먼트와 조직효과성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the influence of director's leadership on teachers' empowerment and organizational effectiveness in early childhood educational institutes. The subjects in this study were 627 teachers who worked at kindergartens and childcare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The results showed that (1) transformational leadership had stronger effects on teacher empowerment than transactional leadership. (2) Directors' transformational leadership had meaningful effects on organizational commitment, but their transactional leadership didn't have effects on commitment. (3) Directors' transformational leadership had stronger effects on job satisfaction and job performance than transactional leadership.
