A flexible disk grinding process model was developed based on the dynamic relationship proposed by Kurfess and the influence of the major system parameters which potentially affect the grinding process was studied. Due to the process complexities, several new parameters were assumed to be kinematically dependent on the geometric layouts of the process. Different process stages had been defined depending on the kinematic relationships between the grinding disk and workpiece. A trend of depth of cut was simulated using the proposed model and compared with the empirically measured data in two dimensions. Due to a poor prediction capability of the first model, a modified model was proposed and a better performance has been proved to reveal a closer description of processed surface quality. Also a deflection length has been verified using a different analytical approach.
For distillation columns, dynamic models which consider variable pressure and vapor holdup were studied. A most rigorous model which used the vapor hydraulic equation was studied with implicit methods. Vapor holdup must be considered in high pressure columns in order to predict dynamic responses accurately. The effect of pressure changes on the tray was only important for the vacuum column, particularly when heat input disturbances occurred. The rigorous vapor hydraulic model was shown to be useful, despite the fact that it is extremely stiff, provided an implicit integration algorithm (LSODES) is employed.

A real-time unmeasured dynamic response prediction process for the nuclear power plant pressure pipeline is proposed and its performance is tested in the test-loop system (KAERI). The aim of the process is to predict unmeasurable or unreachable dynamic responses such as acceleration, velocity, and displacement by using a limited amount of directly measured physical responses. It is achieved by combining a well-constructed finite element model and robust inverse force identification algorithm. The pressure pipeline system is described by using the displacement-pressure vibro-acoustic formulation to consider fully filled liquid effect inside the pipeline structure. A robust multiphysics modal projection technique is employed for the real-time sensor synchronized prediction. The inverse force identification method is also derived and employed by using Bathe's time integration method to identify the full-field responses of the target system from the modal domain computation. To validate the performance of the proposed process, an experimental test is extensively performed on the nuclear power plant pressure pipeline test-loop under operation conditions. The results show that the proposed identification process could well estimate the unmeasured acceleration in both frequency and time domain faster than 32,768 samples per sec.

Mathematical modeling provided a systematic analysis for the dynamic behavior of stock fluid in a paper machine pressurized headbox. Dynamic responses of liquid level, sheet basis weight and hydraulic pressure were predicted from the simulation model which represents the system. A unit step and asinusoidal wave load were considered as the input forcing functions in the headbox. Results are summarized as follows : 1. The dependence of sheet basis weight on liquid level in the pressurized-headbox was non -linear. 2. Liquid level in the head-box showed first-order lag with a unit step forcing to fluid input rate ; 3 . The amplitude of wave response of liquid level was inversely proportional to the time content for the sinusoidal input changes ; 4.Sheet basis weight showed second-order oscillating underamped responses for the step input load of flow rate ; 5. The damping factor in the second-order system was a function of air-pressure in the headbox ; and, 6. Dead-time existed in the measuring process for the headbox slice pressure.
In recent years, the study of self-assembly peptide used in drug delivery system has been attracted great interest from scientists. In the category are self-assembly peptides in the structure either with one hydrophobic surface and another hydrophilic or a hydrophobic head and a hydrophilic tail. Here, we focus on a novel designed peptide EYK with double amphiphilic surfaces, investigating on the capability of peptide as a carrier for hydrophobic compound model pyrene. The fluorescence data presented the dynamic process of the transfer, showing that the pyrene was in the crystalline form in peptide solution, and molecularly migrated from its peptide encapsulations into the membrane bilayers when the peptide-pyrene suspension was mixed with liposome vesicles. The results indicated that the peptide EYK could stabilize hydrophobic pyrene in aqueous solution and delivered it into EPC liposome as a potential carrier.

In this paper, we propose an ATM-LAN IWU(interworking unit) with threshold based dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme. We analyze a discrete-time based finite queueing model with deterministic service times in order to investigate the performance of the proposed scheme. It is known that the arrival process of IP packets is bursty. So we use an MMPP(Markov Modulated Poisson Process) to model the bursty input traffic. As performance measures, we obtain the packet loss probability and the mean packet delay. We present some numerical results to show the effects of the thresholds on the performance of the DBAS(dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme).

With the emergence of high-integration array and large area panel process, the need to minimize the generation of particles in the field of semiconductor, LCD and OLED has grown. As an alternative to the conventional roller system, a contactless magnetic conveyor has been proposed to reduce the generation of particles. An EM-PM hybrid which is one of magnetic levitation types is already proposed for the conveyor system. One of problems pointed out with this approach is the vibration caused by the dynamic interaction between conveyor and rail. To reduce the vibration, the introduction of a secondary suspension system which aims to decouple the levitation electromagnet from the main body is proposed. The objective of this study is to develop a dynamic model for the magnetically levitated conveyor, and to investigate the effect of the introduced suspension system. An integrated model of levitation system and rail based on 3D multibody dynamic model is proposed. With the proposed model, the dynamic characteristics of maglev conveyor system are analyzed, and the effect of the secondary suspension and the stiffness and damping are investigated.
Recently, innovative medical services are fast emerging, which include customized medical services based on bio-informatics, composition of cure and well-being exploiting ubiquitous technology, hospital supply chain management using RFID, and so forth. However, conventional approaches for new service development hardly give us systematic model to analyze and produce creative medical services. Because most of them are static and concentrate on microscopic tools or techniques. Thus, it is highly desirable to suggest an integrative framework to organize the whole transformation process from technology to medical service. The objective of this study is to propose a medical service engineering model based on the dynamic innovation theory. The proposed model contains objectives of service system, strategies of hospital, stages, activities required to deal with medical service life cycle, which incorporates the acquisition of new technology, transformation to the product, penetration into market, and adoption of consumers. In addition, the usefulness and applicability of the newly proposed model are provided using catholic medical center example.

Traditional statistical process control (SPC) applied to discrete part industry in the form of control charts can look for and eliminate assignable causes by process monitoring. On the other hand, engineering process control (EPC) applied to the process industry in the form of feedback control can maintain the process output on the target by continual adjustment of input variable. This study presents controlling and monitoring rules adopted by variable sampling interval (VSI) to change sampling intervals in a predetermined fashion on the predicted process levels under integrated EPC and SPC systems. Twelve rules classified by EPC schemes(MMSE, constrained PI, bounded or deadband adjustment policy) and type of sampling interval combined with EWMA chart of SPC are proposed under IMA (1,1) disturbance model and zero-order (responsive) dynamic system. Properties of twelve control rules under three patterns of process change (sudden shift, drift and random shift) are evaluated and discussed through simulation and control rules for integrated VSI EPC and SPC systems are recommended.
Numerical analysis and dynamic material properties are required to analyze the behavior of workpiece during an electrohydraulic forming (EHF) process. In this study, EHF experiments were conducted under three conditions (6, 7, 8 kV). Dynamic material properties of Al 5052-H34 were inversely estimated through an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) model constructed based on LS-Dyna analysis results. Parameters of Cowper-Symonds constitutive equation, C and p, were used to implement dynamic material properties. By comparing experimental results of three conditions with ANN model results, optimized parameters were obtained. To determine the reliability of the derived parameters, experimental results, LS-Dyna analysis results, and ANN results of three conditions were compared using MSE and SMAPE. Valid parameters were obtained because values of indicators were within confidence intervals.
