  • We have made the single side hand filter for the dual channel receiver which is a heterodyne receiver to observe the cosmic radio waves with 100GHz band ranged from 85GHz to 115GHz and 150GHz band ranged from 125GHz to 175GHz simultaneously. We have introduced the filter theory using the principle of the Martion-Puplett interferometer, which has the characteristics of rotated polarization. To reduce the loss of the transmission and beam coupling which are caused from the path difference associated with the intermediate frequency the design and the implementation have been intensely considered. The receiver needs two filters with different characteristics each other. Because each of them has the optimum positions as a function frequency at which the signal frequency is fed to mixer and the image frequency is rejected to the image termination load. The intermediate frequency and its band width have been also evaluated. We have measured the property of two filters using the vector network analyser and the beam measurement system which is made by us. The responses of the filter as a function of the position and the frequency are compared with the theory. It is shown that not only the measured values are very close to the theoretical values, but also the image rejection ratios are better than 22dB for both filters. Through successful observation using a dual channel receiver with two manufactured filters, the performance of the filters has finally verified.

  • The current study was conducted to develop a portable composite gas detector allowing the detection of both $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ gases by means of the Non Dispersive Infra-Red (NDIR) method. The gas detector is configured to radiate infrared waves using infrared lamps, where the wavelength of the infrared light is reduced due to absorption throughout the chamber, and this reduction (absorption) is detected by the absorption detector, before being converted and amplified to a 3.5V~6V electrical signal, providing as accurate a measurement as possible. The conventional singe sensor method measures the relative measurement by absorbing only specified wavelengths of infrared radiation, which in the case of gas detection leads to problems with accuracy due to the lack of a reference sensor when detecting light with a wavelength of only $4.26{\mu}m$. The dual sensor employed in this study provides a comparative measurement between the reference value derived from the wavelength of $3.91{\mu}m$, which is not influenced by other gas sources, and the measurement value derived from the wavelength of $4.26{\mu}m$, in order to reduce the errors and enhance the reliability, thereby allowing low power consumption for portable devices and multi-gas detection for both $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ gases. The portable composite gas detector developed herein provides a measurement rage of 0ppm~5,000ppm for $CO_2$ gas, and 0.5%vol for $CH_4$, which allows the determination of whether the $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ contents in indoor air are less than 1,000ppm or not. The current study established that the composite gas detector can be interlinked with firefighting appliances through portable devices or home automation, and is anticipated to be very effective in fire prevention.

  • The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) plays well-defined roles in eliciting immune responses and combating infectious diseases. The major histocompatibility complex of cattle is referred to as BoLA (Bovine Lymphocyte Antigen). This genetic system is among the most polymorphic. In the present study, polymorphism of the BoLA- DRB3.2 locus in three Bos indicus breeds viz., Sahiwal, Rathi and Hariana was studied by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism technique using the enzymes RsaI, Bst Y1 and Hae III. Both Sahiwal and Rathi are good Indian dairy breeds and survive under tough tropical conditions, while Hariana is a prominent dual-purpose breed reared both as a dairy animal and for bullock production. A total of 30 different BoLADRB3.2 alleles were observed to be present in the 3 Bos indicus breeds. Certain alleles were common amongst the three breeds while there were others that were unique to each breed. Allelic distribution amongst the three breeds showed that each breed had a unique allelic distribution pattern that was different from each other and also different from the earlier breeds studied so far for the existence of allelic variation at this locus. A dendogram was constructed based on the frequencies of the BoLA-DRB3 alleles using the UPGMA method. The Rathi and Hariana animals were genetically the most apart. The Hariana animals clustered on a different branch from the other two breeds viz. the Rathi and the Sahiwal. The smallest genetic distances for the DRB3 alleles were those between Sahiwal and Rathi (0.5461) while genetic distance between Hariana and Sahiwal was 0.6123. A comparison of the allelic frequencies of the BoLADRB3.2 locus in these 3 breeds viz. Sahiwal, Hariana and Rathi with the allelic frequencies present in the previously characterized Bos indicus Kankrej breed, which is a dual purpose breed reared both as a draught and a dairy animal, showed that the Bos indicus Sahiwal and Rathi breeds clustered into one group while the Hariana and Kankrej breeds formed another group. The Rathi and Sahiwal showed the least genetic distance of 0.5461 amongst the breeds whereas the Rathi and Kankrej, with a Nei''s genetic distance of 1.1622, were genetically the most distant apart.

  • u-GIS DSMSs have been researched to deal with various sensor data from GeoSensors in ubiquitous environment. Also, they has been more important for high availability. The data from GeoSensors have some characteristics that increase explosively. This characteristic could lead memory overflow and data loss. To solve the problem, various load shedding methods have been researched. Traditional methods drop the overloaded tuples according to a particular criteria in a single server. Tuple deletion sensitive queries such as aggregation is hard to satisfy accuracy. In this paper a dual processing load shedding method is suggested to improve the accuracy of aggregation in clustering environment. In this method two nodes use replicated stream data for high availability. They process a stream in two nodes by using a characteristic they share stream data. Stream data are synchronized between them with a window as a unit. Then, processed results are merged. We gain improved query accuracy without data loss.

  • Studies of attentional focus effects, have shown that the performer's attentional focus plays an important role in the performance and learning of motor tasks. We examined the influence of attentional focus on the performance of dual tasks (a postural task and a suprapostural task) and used electromyography (EMG) to examine whether the differences between external and internal focus were also manifest at the neuromuscular level. The subjects (n=40) stood on a balance board (postural task) and held a bar horizontally (suprapostural task). All of the subjects performed under different attentional focus conditions: external (balancer on balance board) or internal (feet) focus on the postural task, and external (balancer on bar) or internal (hand) focus on the suprapostural task. The mean displacement velocity of the bar and the percent reference voluntary contraction (%RVC) of the biceps brachii were reduced when the subjects adopted an external focus on the suprapostural task (p<.05). In addition, the mean displacement velocity of the balance board and %RVC of the tibialis anterior were reduced when the subjects adopted an external focus on the postural task (p<.05). When the subjects adopted an external focus on the suprapostural task, the mean displacement velocity of the balance board and %RVC of the tibialis anterior were also reduced (p<.05). When the subjects' attentional focus was on the postural task, there were no differences in the mean displacement and %RVC of the biceps brachii between attentional focuses. The performance of each task was enhanced when subjects focused on the respective task. The suprapostural task goals had a stronger influence on postural control than vice versa. These results reflect the propensity of the motor system to optimize control processes based on the environmental outcome, or movement effect, that the performer wants to achieve.

  • Traditional computer simulation uses only traditional input and output devices. With the recent emergence of haptic techniques, which can give users kinetic and tactile feedback, the field of computer simulation is diversifying. In particular, as the virtual-reality-based surgical simulation has been recognized as an effective training tool in medical education, the practical virtual simulation of surgery becomes a stimulating new research area. The surgical simulation framework should represent the realistic properties of human organ for the high immersion of a user interaction with a virtual object. The framework should make proper both haptic and visual feedback for high immersed virtual environment. However, one model may not be suitable to simulate both haptic and visual feedback because the perceptive channels of two feedbacks are different from each other and the system requirements are also different. Therefore, we separated two models to simulate haptic and visual feedback independently but at the same time. We propose an adaptive mass-spring method as a multi-modal simulation technique to synchronize those two separated models and present a framework for a dual model of simulation that can realistically simulate the behavior of the soft, pliable human body, along with haptic feedback from the user's interaction.

  • In this paper, a new adaptive resource allocation scheme is proposed in orthogonal frequency-division multiple access(OFDMA) systems with rate proportionality constraints. The problem of maximizing the overall system capacity with constraints on bit error rate, total transmission power and rate-proportionality for user requiring different classes of service is formulated. Since the optimal solution to the constrained fairness problem is extremely complex to obtain, a low-complexity suboptimal algorithm that separates subchannel allocation and power allocation is proposed. Firstly, the number of subchannels to be assigned to each user is determined based on the users' average signal-to-noise ratio and rate-proportion. Subchannels are subsequently distributed according to the modified max-min criterion. Lastly, based on the subchannel allocation, the optimal power allocation by solving the Language dual problem is proposed. Additionally, in order to reduce the computational complexity, iterative rate proportionality tracking algorithm is proposed for maximizing the capacity together with maintaining the rate proportionality constraint.

  • South Korea's medical system has dual systems-that is, Oriental and Western Medicine. Both are different from method for diagnosis or treatment of diseases and Scientific principle. Of the characteristics of Oriental medical practice in comparison with Western medical practice, notably, it is difficult to acknowledge specific constitutions, Oriental medical doctors' discretion is broad, and Oriental medical practice has a low invasiveness. Thus, it is difficult to acknowledge human specific constitutions when grounded on Oriental medical principles, thereby making it difficult for Oriental medical doctors to argue such specific constitutions as a means of defending against their medical negligence. And, it is difficult to prove Oriental medical doctors' negligence because Oriental medical doctors' scope of discretion is broad. Collaboration of Oriental medicine and western medicine can diagnose and treat the patient's diseases from a different viewpoint, making both medicines complementary. Oriental medicine and western medicine are independent of each other, equal, thus making them divided horizontally. Horizontal medical service division involves the principle of trust, but the principle of trust does not always apply to Oriental medicine and western medicine, because if patients shift from one area of medicine to another, the scientific principle, diagnostic method and treatment method of that medical area should be different. Application of the principle of trust to both of them needs to be analyzed according to types of medical institutions where transfers occur, and to the scope of work division between them.

  • In recent years, as demand for data-based analytical methodologies increases in various fields, optimization methods have been developed to handle them. In particular, various constraints required for problems in statistics and machine learning can be solved by convex optimization. Alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) can effectively deal with linear constraints, and it can be effectively used as a parallel optimization algorithm. ADMM is an approximation algorithm that solves complex original problems by dividing and combining the partial problems that are easier to optimize than original problems. It is useful for optimizing non-smooth or composite objective functions. It is widely used in statistical and machine learning because it can systematically construct algorithms based on dual theory and proximal operator. In this paper, we will examine applications of ADMM algorithm in various fields related to statistics, and focus on two major points: (1) splitting strategy of objective function, and (2) role of the proximal operator in explaining the Lagrangian method and its dual problem. In this case, we introduce methodologies that utilize regularization. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate effectiveness of the lasso.

  • In this paper, we propose a built-in antenna for wireless USB dongle which has a modified structure from the existing planar monopole antenna. The proposed antenna implemented a dual-band characteristic by inserting Strip1, Strip2, Strip3 into the monopole structure combined with 'n' shape and feeded 50-Ω using coaxial cable. The antenna is designed on an FR-4 substrate of which the dielectric constant is 4.6, and its overall size is 10 mm × 50 mm × 1mm. Based on the measurement results of the return loss, it was confirmed to satisfy the dual band resonance characteristics of 740 MHz (2.3 ~ 2.7 GHz) and 1,200 MHz (5.15 ~ 5.825 GHz) by -10 dB. In addition, we obtain the omni-directional radiation pattern measurements in the operating frequency bands, and the maximum gain of the proposed antenna has 2.26~3.81 dBi in the 2.4 GHz band and 2.21~5.79 dBi. in the 5.5 GHz band, respectively.
