3GPP LTE FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기의 초기 셀 탐색을 위한 개선된 AGC 구조 및 P-SCH 검출 기법 (An Enhanced AGC Structure and P-SCH Detection Method for Initial Cell Search in 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD Dual Mode Downlink Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE(Long Term Evolution) FDD(Frequency Division Duplexing)/TDD(Time Division Duplexing) 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기의 초기 셀 탐색 (Initial Cell Search)을 위한 개선된 AGC (Automatic Gain Control) 구조 및 P-SCH (Primary Synchronization Channel) 검출 기법을 제안한다. 주파수 분할을 통하여 양방향 송수신되는 FDD 모드와 달리 TDD 모드에서는 상향링크(Uplink) 구간과 하향링크 구간이 시분할로 전송되기 때문에 일반적인 AGC 구조를 고려 시 TDD 모드에서는 AGC variation의 증가로 인한 P-SCH 검출 성능 열화를 유발하게 된다. 또한 주파수 옵셋 및 다중 경로 페이딩의 영향 역시 P-SCH 상관 과정에서의 상관 특성을 왜곡시켜 P-SCH 검출 성능 열화를 유발하게 된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 FDD 모드에서뿐 아니라, TDD 모드에서도 안정적인 동작을 보장함으로써 AGC 동작에 의한 P-SCH 검출 성능 열화를 최소화할 수 있는 AGC 구조를 제안하며, 또한 주파수 옵셋이 존재하는 환경 및 다중 경로 페이딩 환경에서의 상관 특성 열화로 인한 P-SCH 검출 성능 열화를 최소하기 위한 개선된 P-SCH 검출 기법도 제안한다. 다양한 환경에서 제안된 AGC 구조와 P-SCH 검출 기법의 성능 검증을 통해 제안된 방식이 FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기에서 안정적인 AGC 동작 및 P-SCH 검출 성능의 보장이 가능함을 입증하였다.

  • We propose two new classes of robust blind equalization algorithms against abrupt changes of channel conditions, which we call a triple-mode algorithm(TMA) and an automatic switch-over algorithm(ASA). The conventional DMGSA exhibits slow convergence rates due to the incorrect equalizer tap-updating process under the severe channel conditions. In order to speed up the convergence process, the TMA operates in triple-mode that is based on the dual-mode of the DMGSA incorporated with the tap-updating control modes of the SGA as well as the MSGA. Without resorting to the decision region for selecting the operation mode in the TMA, the ASA automatically switches the blind mode to the smoother conventional decision-directed mode. The ASA uses the error functional that is the weighted sum of the Generalized Sato error and the decision-directed error, where the weights correspond to the channel conditions. Test results on 16-QAM and 8-VSB datas confirm that the TMA and the ASA perform well under the sudden changes of channel conditions.

  • The present work focuses on the analysis of the pulverized coal combustion aerodynamics of the dual swirl burner by the control of the swirl-modes such as the outer swirl intensity (OSI). The detailed structure of pulverized coal swirling flames with swirl-mode was studied experimentally by particle image velocimetry and local flame colors based on $OH^*$, $CH^*$, and ${C_2}^*$ radicals. For all co-swirling conditions, the internal recirculation zone (IRZ) was observed near the inner shear layer with respect to the processing vortex core structure. Furthermore, a co-rotating vortex in the outer shear layer and the exhaust tube vortex (ETV) along the central axis were observed. The intensity of $CH^*$ signal was higher with small coal particle size, conversely, the size of the distribution of the $CH^*$ signal becomes larger. Therefore, the control of the aerodynamics with changing swirl intensities may play an important role in improving both environmental and combustion performances.

Optimized Operation of Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC Converters in the Soft-Switching Area with Triple-Phase-Shift Control at Light Loads

  • It is usually difficult for dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converters to operate efficiently at light loads. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of a DAB with triple-phase-shift (TPS) control under the light load condition to overcome this problem. A kind of operating mode which is suitable for light load operation is analyzed in this paper. First, an analysis of the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) constraints for the DAB converter has been carried out and a reasonable dead-band setting method has been proposed. Secondly, the basic operating characteristics of the converter are analyzed. Third, under the condition of satisfying the ZVS constraints, both the reactive power and the root mean square (RMS) value of the current are simultaneously minimized and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed to analyze and solve this optimization problem. Lastly, both simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental results show that the converter can effectively achieve ZVS and improved efficiency.

Effect of surface treatment and luting agent type on shear bond strength of titanium to ceramic materials

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to compare the effect of different surface treatments and luting agent types on the shear bond strength of two ceramics to commercially pure titanium (Cp Ti). MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 160 Cp Ti specimens were divided into 4 subgroups (n = 40) according to surface treatments received (control, 50 ㎛ airborne-particle abrasion, 110 ㎛ airborne-particle abrasion, and tribochemical coating). The cementation surfaces of titanium and all-ceramic specimens were treated with a universal primer. Two cubic all-ceramic discs (lithium disilicate ceramic (LDC) and zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic (ZLC)) were cemented to titanium using two types of resin-based luting agents: self-cure and dual-cure (n = 10). After cementation, all specimens were subjected to 5000 cycles of thermal aging. A shear bond strength (SBS) test was conducted, and the failure mode was determined using a scanning electron microscope. Data were analyzed using three-way ANOVA, and the Tukey-HSD test was used for post hoc comparisons (P < .05). RESULTS. Significant differences were found among the groups based on surface treatment, resin-based luting agent, and ceramic type (P < .05). Among the surface treatments, 50 ㎛ air-abrasion showed the highest SBS, while the control group showed the lowest. SBS was higher for dual-cure resin-based luting agent than self-cure luting agent. ZLC showed better SBS values than LDC. CONCLUSION. The cementation of ZLC with dual-cure resin-based luting agent showed better bonding effectiveness to commercially pure titanium treated with 50 ㎛ airborne-particle abrasion.

Advances in Nonlinear Predictive Control: A Survey on Stability and Optimality

  • Some recent advances in stability and optimality for the nonlinear receding horizon control (NRHC) or the nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) are assessed. The NRHCs with terminal conditions are surveyed in terms of a terminal state equality constraint, a terminal cost, and a terminal constraint set. Other NRHCs without terminal conditions are surveyed in terms of a control Lyapunov function (CLF) and cost monotonicity. Additional approaches such as output feedback, fuzzy, and neural network are introduced. This paper excludes the results for linear receding horizon controls and concentrates only on the analytical results of NRHCs, not including applications of NRHCs. Stability and optimality are focused on rather than robustness.

  • This paper describes a low-voltage dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) focusing on subthreshold leakage reduction during self-refresh (sleep) mode. By sharing a power switch, multiple iterative circuits such as row and column decoders have a significantly reduced subthreshold leakage current. To reduce the leakage current of complex logic gates, dual channel length scheme and input vector control method are used. Because all node voltages during the standby mode are deterministic, zigzag super-cutoff CMOS is used, allowing to Preserve internal data. MTCMOS technique Is also used in the circuits having no need to preserve internal data. Sub-1.2-V 1-Gb mobile DDR DRAM employing all these low-power techniques was designed in a 60 nm CMOS technology and achieved over 77% reduction of overall leakage current during the self-refresh mode.

  • 본 논문은 DC/DC 위상천이 풀브릿지 컨버터의 과도상태 개선을 위한 듀얼모드 제어를 제안한다. 기존의 discontinuous conduction mode (DCM)과 continuous conduction mode (CCM)을 이용하여 운용하는 위상천이 풀브릿지 컨버터는 각 모드의 상이한 전압게인의 특성을 고려하지 않아 급격한 로드 변동시 출력 전압의 언더슈트 혹은 오버슈트가 크게 발생한다. 제안하는 듀얼모드 제어는 DCM과 CCM 각 모드 별개로 제어가 적용되고 출력 전류의 변화에 대응하는 적응형 feed-forward 제어가 적용되어 컨버터의 과도상태를 개선할 수 있다. 듀얼모드의 제어 방법의 성능과 타당성을 시뮬레이션을 통해 입증한다.

  • A grid connected inverter must be operated as the main electricity source under an isolated condition caused by the grid problem. Conventionally, the dual loop controller is used for the grid inverter, and the controller is used for control under the stand-alone mode. Generally, the PI(Proportional - Integral) controller is highly efficient under a synchronous reference frame, and stable control can be available. However, in this synchronous frame-based control, high-quality DSP is required because many sinusoidal calculations are necessary. When the PI control is conducted under a stationary frame, the controller constructions are made simple so that they work even with a low-price micro controller. However, given the characteristics of the PI controller, it should be designed with the phase of reference voltage considered. Otherwise, the phase delay of the output voltage can occur. Although the current controller also has a higher bandwidth than the voltage controller, distortion of the voltage is difficult to avoid only by the rapid response of the PI controller, as a sudden load change can occur in the nonlinear load. In this study, a new control method that solves the voltage controller bandwidth problem and rapidly copes with it even in the nonlinear load situation is proposed. The validity of the proposed method is proved by simulation and experimental results.

  • The concept of feasible & invariant region plays an important role to derive closed loop stability and achie adequate performance of constrained receding horizon predictive control. In this paper, we define a complex polyhedral feasible & invariant set for all stabilizable input-constrained linear systems by using a complex transform and propose a one-norm based receding horizon control scheme using these invariant sets. In order to get a larger stabilizable set, a convex hull of invariant sets which are defined for different state feedback gains is used as a target invariant set of the constrained receding horizon control. The proposed constrained receding horizon control scheme is formulated so that it can be solved via linear programming.
