  • The flow direction in a glass tube is measured by using a forward scatering dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter with an acousto-optic modulator. We can determine the flow direction by measuring the shifted Doppler frequency which is dependent on the order of modulation of the laser frequency shifting moves only the Doppler signal, enabling complete separation of the Pedestal and Doppler singal.

  • In this paper, finite element with embedded discontinuous line is introduced in order to avoid the difficulties of adding new nodal points along with crack growth in discrete crack model. With the discontinuous element using discontinuous shape function, stiffness matrix of finite element is derived and dual mapping technique for numerical integration is employed. Using the finite element program made with employed algorithms, algorithm is verified and fracture analysis of simple concrete beam is performed.

  • A new tri-aural ultrasonic sensor system is suggested to build more accurate world maps for mobile robots with less scanning. In ordinary single sensor systems, the inherent beam-width of sonar transmitter causes ambiguity in sensing direction. Dual sensors may be used to discriminate plane and corner with several scans. However, the proposed method uses triple sensors, and achieves more accuracy with less scanning.

  • Experimental study of a round. free air jet is accomplished using a crossed hot wire probe with a constant temperature hot wire anemometer. Mean velocity Profiles, Reynolds stresses, tubulent intensities, velocity probability densities and correlation functions are measured in the down tream region. These values are calculated and averaged inthe correlation and probability analyzer. The reults are interpreted by the output of te dual beam oscilloscope.

6MV 및 10 MV X-ray의 이중에너지를 생성하는 방사선 발생장치의 임상적 이용 (Clinical Application of the Dual Energy Photon Beam Using 6 MV and 10 MV X-ray)

  • 최근에 선형가속기에 대한 제작기술의 발달로 하나의 기계에서 두 가지 X-선이 생성된다. 이러한 기계적 특성을 충분히 이용할 수 있도록 임상적으로 어떠한 장점이 있는지 아는 것은 매우 중요하다. 특히 SAD 방법으로 치료 시 다른 에너지를 사용하여야 될 경우 환자를 다른 에너지가 있는 치료실로 이동시키지 않아도 되는 장점이 있다. 저자는 직장암 환자 15예를 중심으로 6MV와 10MV X-선의 에너지를 복합적으로 사용하여 치료를 하였을 때 단일에너지인 6MV혹은 10MV X-선을 이용했을 때와 등량곡선의 분포도 및 선량률의 차이를 비교하였다. 선량 계산은 치료계획용 Mevaplan 콤퓨터를 이용하였다. 정상조직에 들어가는 방사선량의 차이를 계산하기 위해 방광 및 우측 대퇴부를 임의의 점으로 잡아 콤퓨터에 입력시켜 그 부위의 최대선량 최소선량 및 평균선량을 구하였다. 6MV 및 10MV의 이중에너지 X-선을 이용하였을 때 6MV 단일 에너지 X-선으로 치료시 보다 방광의 평균 방사선량은 $8.1\%$ 감소하였고 방광 평균 방사선량 즉 소장과 근접해 있는 부위는 $7.4\%$의 감소를 보였다. 최대선량치 Dmax는 $1.25\%$감소하였다. 대퇴부위의 평균 방사선량은 $2\%$ 감소하였다. 이중에너지 X-선 치료는 10MV단일에너지와 비교하여 방광의 평균 방사선량은 $8.5\%$ 감소하였고, 소장근접 부위는 $11.8\%$ 감소하였다. 최대선량치 Dmax는 $0.8\%$의 증가로 거의 차이가 없었다. 대퇴부위 방사선량은 $0.8\%$증가로 비슷하였다. 그외 회음부 및 전골전방 부위는 전방조사야에 10MV 대신 6MV를 씀으로써 피부 sparing 효과를 줄여주어 충분한 방사선량을 줄 수 있었다. 위의 결과로 이중에너지 X-선 치료는 정상조직의 손상은 같게 주며 종양부위의 방사선량을 $7\~12\%$정도 올려줄 수 있는 장점이 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Influence of steel-concrete interaction in dissipative zones of frames: II - Numerical study

  • In the case of seismic-resistant composite dual moment resisting and eccentrically braced frames, the current design practice is to avoid the disposition of shear connectors in the expected plastic zones, and consequently to consider a symmetric moment or shear plastic hinges, which occur only in the steel beam or link. Even without connectors, the real behavior of the hinge may be different from the symmetric assumption since the reinforced concrete slab is connected to the steel element close to the hinge locations, and also due to contact friction between the concrete slab and the steel element. At a larger level, the structural response in the case of important seismic motions depends directly on the elasto-plastic behavior of elements and hinges. The numerical investigation presented in this study summarizes the results of elasto-plastic analyses of several steel frames, considering the interaction of the steel beam with the concrete slab. Several parameters, such as the inter-story drift, plastic rotation requirements and behavior factors q were monitored. In order to obtain accurate results, adequate models of plastic hinges are proposed for both the composite short link and composite reduced beam sections.

퍼포본드 FRP-콘크리트 합성보의 휨거동에 관한 매개변수 연구 (A Parametric Study for Bending Behavior of Perfobond FRP-Concrete Composite Beam)

  • 최근 영구거푸집과 보강재 역할을 동시에 하는 FRP-콘크리트 합성부재에 관한 연구가 많이 진행되고 있으며, 일부에서는 실제 교량바닥판에 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 파괴실험으로 평가한 퍼포본드 FRP 콘크리트 합성보에 대해 비선형 유한요소해석 프로그램을 활용하여 검증해석을 실시하고, 이를 이용하여 FRP 보강재 형상에 따른 매개변수 해석을 수행하였다. 퍼포본드 FRP 보강재의 경우 다우웰 영향으로 내력이 증가하는 양상이 나타났고, 본 해석모델을 중심으로 판단하면 웨브의 높이를 고려하여 25~35mm 범위에서 구멍직경을 결정하는 것이 바람직하다고 판단된다.

Utility of the computed tomography indices on cone beam computed tomography images in the diagnosis of osteoporosis in women

  • Purpose : This study evaluated the potential use of the computed tomography indices (CTI) on cone beam CT (CBCT) images for an assessment of the bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal osteoporotic women. Materials and Methods : Twenty-one postmenopausal osteoporotic women and 21 postmenopausal healthy women were enrolled as the subjects. The BMD of the lumbar vertebrae and femur were calculated by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) using a DXA scanner. The CBCT images were obtained from the unilateral mental foramen region using a PSR-$9000N^{TM}$ Dental CT system. The axial, sagittal, and coronal images were reconstructed from the block images using $OnDemend3D^{TM}$. The new term "CTI" on CBCT images was proposed. The relationship between the CT measurements and BMDs were assessed and the intra-observer agreement was determined. Results : There were significant differences between the normal and osteoporotic groups in the computed tomography mandibular index superior (CTI(S)), computed tomography mandibular index inferior (CTI(I)), and computed tomography cortical index (CTCI). On the other hand, there was no difference between the groups in the computed tomography mental index (CTMI: inferior cortical width). Conclusion : CTI(S), CTI(I), and CTCI on the CBCT images can be used to assess the osteoporotic women.

Multibeam Satellite Frequency/Time Duality Study and Capacity Optimization

  • In this paper, we investigate two new candidate transmission schemes, non-orthogonal frequency reuse (NOFR) and beam-hopping (BH). They operate in different domains (frequency and time/space, respectively), and we want to know which domain shows overall best performance. We propose a novel formulation of the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) which allows us to prove the frequency/time duality of these schemes. Further, we propose two novel capacity optimization approaches assuming per-beam SINR constraints in order to use the satellite resources (e.g., power and bandwidth) more efficiently. Moreover, we develop a general methodology to include technological constraints due to realistic implementations, and obtain the main factors that prevent the two technologies dual of each other in practice, and formulate the technological gap between them. The Shannon capacity (upper bound) and current state-of-the-art coding and modulations are analyzed in order to quantify the gap and to evaluate the performance of the two candidate schemes. Simulation results show significant improvements in terms of power gain, spectral efficiency and traffic matching ratio when comparing with conventional systems, which are designed based on uniform bandwidth and power allocation. The results also show that BH system turns out to show a less complex design and performs better than NOFR system specially for non-real time services.

Influence of MBE Growth Temperature on the Sulfur Compositional Variation Of ZnSSe Epitaxial Layers on GaAs Substrates

  • In this work, we reported the sulfur compositional variation of ZnS$\_$x/Se$\_$1-x/ epitaxial layers with growth temperature and BEP ration of ZnX/Se/)P$\_$ZnS//P$\_$Se/) grown on GaAs substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. The sulfur composition of ZnSSe epitaxial layers was varied sensitively on the growth temperature and show different linear relationship with growth temperature and BEP ration of ZnS/Se(P$\_$ZnS//P$\_$Se/), which revealed -0.107 %$\^{C}$ at (P$\_$ZnS//P$\_$Se/)=0.30 and -0.052 %$\^{C}$ at (P$\_$ZnS//P$\_$Se/)=0.158 rspectively. A reference data for the accurate control of the sulfur composition and the growth of high quality ZnSSe/GaAs epitaxial layers was provided.
