Performance of SDR-Based Digital-IF Channelization for Dual-Band DS-CDMA System in Wideband Multipath Channel

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system in wideband multipath channel employing RAKE receiver with MRC diversity. For the simulation of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system, we used digital IF techniques, polyphase analysis filter bank as channelizer. Also, Remez exchange algorithm is employed in the realization of the digital filter in the polyphase analysis filter bank. For performance analysis of dual-band CDMA system, we consider power loss of IF signal after passing through channel and the filter. Also, the performance for different sampling rates is analyzed.

  • This paper proposes new dual-band impedance transformers based on the L-section circuit topology. The proposed circuits consist of a transmission line section with a stub line either at the source or at the load end. The dual-band operating conditions are analyzed in detail and simple design equations are derived in terms of the line lengths and impedances for the different circuit topologies and load conditions. The dual-band operation is confirmed through the design, fabrication and measurement in microstrip circuits based on the proposed method.

  • 유비쿼터스 기술을 활용한 U-city와 같은 지역적인 서비스들이 다양한 분야에서 응용되고 있다. 유비쿼터스 기술 중 하나인 RFID는 사용하는 주파수에 따라 장 단점을 가지고 있기 때문에 단일 대역 주파수를 활용한 RFID 시스템은 다양해지는 사용자의 요구를 충족시키기에 명확한 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 연구를 통해 13.56MHz와 2.45GHz를 동시에 지원하는 Dual-Band RFID시스템을 개발하여 단일대역 RFID 서비스의 단점을 보완한다. 이를 위해 두 대역의 주파수를 지원하는 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 개발하고, 능동형 태그의 배터리 수명에 관한 연구를 통해 보다 효율적으로 Dual-Band RFID 시스템을 구성한다.

Design of Miniaturized Dual-Band Artificial Magnetic Conductor with Easy Control of Second/First Resonant Frequency Ratio

  • A novel miniaturized artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is proposed for dual-band operation. An AMC unit cell that employs four slots in the metallic patch is used to achieve miniaturization as well as easy control of the second/first resonant frequency ratio, which can be varied from 1.5 to 3.26 by simply changing the slot shape for a given metallic patch size. A dual-band antenna composed of a wideband monopole suspended over the proposed AMC surface is designed and tested to validate this approach. The measurements result in a satisfactory and good matching condition for the dual-band antenna.

  • The 1.63㎓, 2.33㎓ dual-band PLL frequency synthesizer has been developed for applications to the miniature repeater. The miniature dual-band repeater will be used at shopping mall, basements and underground parking lots. The in-loop 1.63㎓, 2.33㎓ dual-band PLL frequency synthesizer has been developed by designing Si BJT VCO and PLL loop circuits with Colpitts. The prototype of 1.63㎓, 2.33㎓ dual-band PLL frequency synthesizer of size 19${\times}$19${\times}$8(mm) has shown operating frequencies of 1.63㎓, 2.33㎓ ranges, RF output of 1dBm(PCS), 1dBm(IMT-2000), phase noise of -100 dBc/Hz(PCS), -95dBc/Hz(IMT-2000) at 10KHz offset, harmonics suppression of -24dB c(PCS), -15dBc(IMT-2000).

  • In this paper, we proposed a compact arbitrary dual-band band-stop filter using CRLH transmission line. The proposed filter used CRLH transmission line as stub and it developed dual-band band-stop characteristics using non-linear phase response of CRLH transmission line. The size of proposed filter is compact. And it can control arbitrary dual stop band. In this paper, designed band-stop filter at GPS band and ISM band As result, the S(2,1) is about -30dB at GPS band and about -29dB at ISM band. The fabricated filter is very compact. Its dimension is 10mm*15mm.

  • In this paper, A high selective dual-band bandpass filter was proposed using a dual-mode ring resonator with two short-circuited stubs. For dual-mode resonance, the ring resonator is directly connected with non-orthogonal feed-lines via coupling capacitors. Two short-circuited stubs which are unequal lengths are simultaneously placed at two corners along the two symmetry plane of the ring resonator in order to obtain dual-band responses. Because the feeding angle perturbated ring resonator of the proposed dual-band bandpass filter has the symmetrical structure, Even/Odd mode analysis can be well applied to extract the scattering parameters and transmission zero frequencies. The proposed dual-band bandpass filter was designed and fabricated for WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) application of IEEE 802.11n standard. The measured results showed a good agreement with the simulation results, and it should be well applied not only for WLAN applications but also for any other communication systems.

Compact Dual-Band Half-Ring-Shaped Bent Slot Antenna for WLAN and WiMAX Applications

  • A compact dual-band half-ring-shaped (HRS) bent slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications is presented. The antenna consists of two HRS slots with different lengths and widths. The two HRS slots are connected through an arc-shaped slit, and the upper HRS slot is bent in order to reduce the size of the antenna. The optimized dual-band HRS bent slot antenna operating in the 2.45 GHz WLAN and 3.5 GHz WiMAX bands is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with dimensions of 30 mm by 30 mm. The slot length of the proposed dual-band slot antenna is reduced by 35%, compared to a conventional dual-band rectangular slot antenna. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna operates in the frequency bands of 2.40-2.49 GHz and 3.39-3.72 GHz for a voltage standing wave ratio of less than 2, and measured gain is larger than 1.4 dBi in the two bands.

  • In narrowband communication systems operating in VHF and UHF bands, the performance degradation due to a frequency offset is inevitable. In this paper, we propose a frequency offset reduction scheme using the dual-band FSK modulation for narrowband communications. The proposed scheme not only offer a relatively reliable performance under a severe frequency offsets, but also can obtain a frequency diversity gain in Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In this paper, we designed more improving a dual-band power amplifier than the transceiver of RFID reader that operates at 910 MHz and 2.45 GHz. A dual-band power amplifier has two circuits. One matching circuit is composed lumped element in the band of 910 MHz. The other matching circuit using distributed element in the high band of 2.45 GHz. So, this dual-band power amplifier works as Band Rejection Filter in the band of 910 MHz but in the high band of 2.45 GHz works as Band Pass Filter. Therefore, this is composed a microstrip transmission line. A power amplifier is showed gains of 8 dB output power at 910 MHz and 1.5 dB output power at 2.45 GHz. If input power is 10 dBm, both of bands output 20 dBm.
