  • Objective : This experimental study was performed to investigate the effect of Soyum Herbal-acupuncture on Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis that induce keratitis. Methods : MIC was measured by dropping to $50\;{\mu}l$ according to density Soyum Herbal-acupuncture(100%, 10%, 1%, 0.1%). Antibacterial potency was measured by the size of inhibition zone with change of volume. Results : 1. MIC on Staphylococcus aureus in Soyum Herbal-acupuncture disappear all sample. 2. MIC on Staphylococcus epidermidis in Soyum Herbal-acupuncture disappear all sample. Conclusions : The present author think that Soyum Herbal-acupuncture must be extract a new method for anti-bacterial potency.

  • The engineering college in Yonsei University started the RCP(Residential College Program) at Song-do International Campus in 2013. Every first-year engineering student is required to live on-campus at their first semester. They had integrated educational experiences combined with extracurricular community activities as well as curricular activities. The residential learning communities were to decrease the number of students in probation and enrich campus culture. The living and learning communities could help students achieve academic success and to lower the rate in dropping. We ran a survey over the students' satisfaction on RCP. Academic achievement and retentions were compared between the ones in 2011 and 2013.

  • Accidents, especially fatal accidents in construction work are being not reduced, but increased, despite of more concerns of related authority and companies themselves. It is investigated that major reasons of which these accident increase are caused to set up wrong temporary structures : scaffolding with insufficient components or safety guards. Approximately 50% of falling accident, one of three major accidents; falling collapsing of structures or soil, accidents from heavy equipments, are due to defects of temporary structures. Therefore, technical standards for these temporary structures made by the ministry of labour in 1984, should be promptly revised because of its insufficient considerations for structural concepts. A method to effectively ensure the construction safety are shown through an experimental method, mathematical analysis structural planning against overturning and collapsing of scaffold-ing components, consideration of safety factor in loading, formulations of safety structure against falling or dropping from schaffolding.

  • This paper mainly deals with the modified version of conventional PRMA(Packet Reservation Multiple Access). In the existing PRMA schemes, the occupied slot in the initial access state is not allowed to be reserved in the silent period and retrial of gaining the slot access has to pay additional packet dropping. Whereas in the modified model, we propose to utilize a control minislot that maintains slot reservation and this prevents additional packet drop occurrence since initial access, and this slightly improves the system performance.

  • In-pipe formation of THM in water distribution systems was simulated by using the continuously and easily measurable parameters such as water temperature, residual chlorine and soluble organic compounds. The concentration of miscellaneous organics which could be the precuror of THM, was measured and represented as the absorbance of ultraviolet at wave length 260 nm. As the results, the developed equation in this study showed a more reliability on the change of THM than the normally regressed equation. In addition, the simulation was successfully fitted in the actual water treatment and distribution systems. Of the THM components, dibromochloromethane was the main cause dropping the overall reliability in the simulation.

  • In the past several years the popularity of the motor cycle has produced an increasing incidence of the injuries to the larynx and trachea. Most of all on accidents come to death and survivors to the hospital are rare. Early diagnosis and to keep air way are necessary to initiate proper treatment in injury of upper air way. Meticulous apposition of mucous membrane and reconstitution of laryngeal skeleton are important. We experienced a rare case of 26 year old men with cricothyroidal transection after trauma. On Oct. 17, 1985, the patient struck his neck on baggage frame of truck when dropping from his motor cycle on sudden stop. Emergency tracheal intubation on distal segment of trachea was accomplished by otolaryngologist in a local clinic. He was transferred to our hospital. Exploration 2 hours later revealed complete separation of cricoid cartilage from thyroid cartilage. The recurrent laryngeal nerve could not be identified. Anastomosis of thyroid and cricoid was accomplished and Portex endotracheal tube was inserted as splint for 10 days. No stenosis developed. The air way appeared adequate for moderate physical activity though paramedian fixation of vocal cord paralysis. Postoperative follow-up course has been good after he discharged on POD 14 days.

  • Human teeth were scratched by the abrasive paper, dropping in hydroxyapatite solution during 1, 2, 3, 4 months. We studied teeth surface change with SEM each months. After 1 months treatment the surface appeared the change. Because of the hydroxyapatite ion exchange mechanism. The scratched surface was recovered by the hydroxyapatite. The results of EDS showed that $Ca^{2+}$ ion and $PO_4^{3-}$ ion were removed from hydroxyapatite solution to scratched teeth surface.

  • The treatmene of V79 cells with diethyl maleate (DEM) led to decrease in glutathione (GSH) level as increasing DEM concentration. Mercuric chloride, treated for 6 hrs with 2ng/ml, affected the GSH metabolizing enzymes glutathione S-transferase (GST) and glutathione peroxidase (GSP), dropping their activities to 60% and 75%, respectively, though not so much in GSH level(80%). However, the toxic effects of mercuric chloride on those enzymes and GSH level were both amplified when the Hg2+ treatment was combined with the preceding DEM treatment.

  • Impact sounds, such as those created by footsteps, the dropping of an object or the moving of furniture, can be a source of great annoyance in residential buildings. Running and jumping impact sound by child are one of the most irritating noises in an apartment buildings. It's necessary to know that the impact force characteristics of real impact source in an apartment buildings. This study aims to investigate the impact force characteristics and impact force time of running and jumping by child. This study cud out investigation through the 155 children in school. The results of this study is that jumping impact force is greater than running impact force but impact force time is lower than that.
