Reference Stress Based J-Integral Estimates Along the Semi-Elliptical Surface Crack Front (반타원 표면균열 선단을 따른 참조응력 기반의 J-적분 예측)

  • This paper discusses applicability of the enhanced reference stress method to estimate J-integral along the semi-elliptical surface crack front. It is found that angular variations of normalized J­integral are strongly dependent on the geometry, loading mode and loading magnitude. As application of the reference stress approach to semi-elliptical surface cracks implies proportional increases in the normalized J-integral, the present results pose a question in applicability of the reference stress approach. However, investigation of the error in the estimated J-integral in the present work suggests that the enhanced reference stress approach, recently proposed by authors, provides an effective engineering tool fur estimating crack driving force along the semi-elliptical surface crack front.

A Study on the Estimation Possibility of Driver's Stress Degrees with the HRV Analysis (HRV를 통한 운전자 스트레스 정도 추정 가능성 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to test the estimation possibility of driver's stress degrees with the HRV analysis. For this, first, HRV analysis was applied to the 5 driver's ECG signals which were acquired in 7 different stress situations. From this, the facts that HRV trend was different from that in long-distance driving and 6 parameters - meanRR, sdRR, HF, LF/HF, LFnorm, HFnorm were useful for the stress estimation in stress varying driving situation. Next, we designed 5 personalized linear regression models in which 6 HRV parameters were input and the outcomes were 7 different stress degrees. Finally, we tested each model for 5min-long 16 segments individually. Consequently, the models could not hit the stress degrees exactly in some segments but the correlation coefficients between original stress pattern and estimated stress pattern during entire driving showed reasonably high.

  • It seems to be dangerous to use a cellular phone while driving since it increases driver's mental stress and makes driver's reaction time slow. This study is to investigate driver's psycho-physiological responses on mobile telephoning while driving. Among the three experimental factors (mobile-phone types, message IODs over mobile-phone, road types), only the message IODs over mobile-phone changed R-R intervals of electrocardiograph significantly. This result suggests that the regulations on the mobile telephoning while driving be changed.

  • Purpose: This article provides an efficient cushion molding method for improving reliability of the rotation driving system. Method: Allowable stress level for cushion is calculated by using physical characteristics of the rotation driving system. In addition, various test units are manufactured and used to conduct the rebound resilience, the burst pressure and the alternating load test. Results: Actual allowable stress level and test results of the rebound resilience, the burst pressure and the alternating load test are provided. Conclusion: The cushion manufactured by the compression molding method gives more preferable characteristics for improving the reliability of the rotation driving system.

Effects of Time Pressure and Induced-Anger on Driving Performance: A Simulation Study (시간압력 스트레스와 유도된 분노가 운전 수행에 미치는 영향: 운전 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • This study was conducted to examine the stress effects of time pressure and induced driver-anger on driving performance. The participants in the four different stress conditions(i.e., control condition, time pressure, induced anger, and mixed condition where induced-anger and time pressure were combined) were asked to drive the driving simulator, and their driving performances(i. e., lane crossing, signal violation, speeding, and deviation form designated path) were measured as the dependent variable. The results can be summarized as followings. (1) Induced-anger alone and the mixed driver stresses tended to yield deteriorated driving performances as well as awareness for designated path, (2) Time pressure alone appeared to have only limited effect both on the driving and path awareness. And (3) the effects of induced-anger alone and the mixed condition on driving performance and path awareness did not show ant significant difference. The results of the present study indicated that drivers' basic vehicle control and keeping awareness to destination could be affected differently by the types of driver stress.

  • In spite of the efforts to reduce traffic accidents of commercial vehicles, the number of driving under the influence (DUI) of commercial drivers has been increasing. This study examines the effect of stress coping style of commercial drivers on driving behaviors. Specifically, this research aims to find the role of life stress as a mediator in the relationships between the stress coping style and problematic drinking behaviors. 1308 licensed commercial vehicle drivers participated in this research. Results showed that life stress mediated the relationships between problem focused strategies, wishful thinking strategies, passive avoidance strategies and problematic drinking behaviors. These findings indicate that educating drivers to change their stress coping styles would be helpful to inhibit them from being involved in drunken driving.

  • It is common for commercial vehicles to make the top part according to the use after making the bear chassis, and to connect various devices with the bear chassis. Various brackets used in bear chassis for the development of all automobiles, including commercial vehicles, play a role of connecting the components required for driving and operating the car to the car body. In commercial vehicles, components necessary for operation are installed in the bear chassis; that is, the bear chassis of commercial vehicles is a space where the devices required for driving and operating the vehicle are installed. The devices required for the configuration of the vehicle are drive, brake, exhaust and steering, etc. These devices are basically connected to the body, the front axis, or the rear axis. The part interlinking the apparatuses required for the vehicle drive to the car body or axis is bracket. In this study, we analyzed the boundary conditions to evaluate the stability of the three brackets that connect the components of the car to the front axis of the new type of 30-seater bus in the development process. In order to analyze the boundary conditions, the boundary conditions according to the driving condition of the vehicle were classified. For stress analysis to evaluate the stability of brackets according to the driving state of the vehicle, it is reasonable to give the bracket a boundary condition of harsh conditions.

A Study on the Fatigue Crack Propagation Analysis Using Equivalent Stress Distribution (등가분포응력을 이용한 피로균열전파해석에 관한 연구)

  • From the viewpoint of linear fracture mechanics, the crack propagation behavior of two different structures having the same K-a relationship could be considered identical. In this study the stress distribution in an infinitely wide cracked plate with the same K-a relationship as in a real structure is defined as the equivalent stress distribution. Fatigue life of a real structural element can be predicted by applying the equivalent stress distribution to a simple structural element, and performing a fatigue crack propagation analysis. The K-a relationship for a structural member can be estimated by a finite element method or a simplified prediction method. The validity to obtain effective crack driving stresses by using the equivalent stress-distribution is examined.

The Development of the Program Using Virtual Reality Environment to Treat the Stress Disorder after Car Accident (가상현실을 이용한 교통사고 후유장애 치료 프로그램 개발)

  • This analysis has been projected as a preliminary analysis to develop the therapy program for people who is suffering from stress disorder after car accident such as sense of fear or anxiety using virtual reality. The analysis verified the effect of driving scenario which is core technology of stress disorder program and of anxiety reduction training such as relaxation training through clients. The relaxation training has been tested to 8 people; 7 normal and 1 sufferer from car accident presenting them 3 different types of driving scenarios. As a result, relaxation training was effective but, it was not statistically good enough although it showed incensement of uneasiness by each different driving scenario. In spite of normal clients, it is interesting that anxiety lever after relaxation training using VR is lowered, but this result need to verify to client suffering real car accident.

  • Automatic grease lubricator of gear type was developed by mechanical design, analysis and test with products manufactured by rapid prototyping machine. The mechanism of gear driving was designed in similar to the watch mechanism and lubrication could be controlled by PCB circuit. The body of the lubricator was analyzed by stress analysis with different constructed angle. Digital mockup was analyzed and RP products were combined with PCB circuit and grease. RP products and injection moulding products were tested and compared for roughness and roundness, Finally the grease was drained out for testing the time.
