  • This paper aims to add the autonomous driving capability to the inverted pendulum system which maintains the inverted pendulum upright stably. For the autonomous driving from the starting position to the goal position, the motion control algorithm is proposed based on the dynamics of the inverted pendulum robot. To derive the dynamic model of the inverted pendulum robot, a three dimensional robot coordinate is defined and the velocity jacobian is newly derived. With the analysis of the wheel rolling motion, the dynamics of inverted pendulum robot are derived and used for the motion control algorithm. To maintain the balance of the inverted pendulum, the autonomous driving strategy is derived step by step considering the acceleration, constant velocity and deceleration states simultaneously. The driving experiments of inverted pendulum robot are performed while maintaining the balance of the inverted pendulum. For reading the positions of the inverted pendulum and wheels, only the encoders are utilized to make the system cheap and reliable. Even though the derived dynamics works for the slanted surface, the experiments are carried out in the standardized flat ground using the inverted pendulum robot in this paper. The experimental data for the wheel rolling and inverted pendulum motions are demonstrated for the straight line motion from a start position to the goal position.

  • Vehicle dynamic states used in various advanced driving safety systems are influenced by road geometry. Among the road geometry information, the vehicle pitch angle influenced by road slope and acceleration-deceleration is essential parameter used in pose estimation including the navigation system, advanced adaptive cruise control and others on sag road. Although the road slope data is essential parameter, the method measuring the parameter is not commercialized. The digital map including the road geometry data and high-precision DGPS system such as DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) based RTK(Real-Time Kinematics) are used unusually. In this paper, low-cost cascade extended Kalman filter(CEKF) based road slope estimation method is proposed. It use cascade two EKFs. The EKFs use several measured vehicle states such as yaw rate, longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration and wheel speed of the rear tires and 3 D.O.F(Degree Of Freedom) vehicle dynamics model. The performance of proposed estimation algorithm is evaluated by simulation based on Carsim dynamics tool and T-car based experiment.

  • We hereby report novel driving scheme to eliminate effect of "residual" image sticking (RRI) problem which arises due to hysteresis problem in Thin Film Transistor (TFT) in AMOLED Displays. The driving scheme applies "black" voltage after every data voltage period in order to drive AMOLED in uni-direction. The system can be easily implemented with 120 Hz driving scheme which is well matured in AMLCD industries. Our analyses show systematic evaluation of the problem and thereby solving it by simple methods which will be significantly effective of driving OLED towards mass manufacturing stage.

  • Autonomous-driving is a major technology that leads to the fourth industrial revolution. Due to recent advances in autonomous-driving technologies and deregulation, it is expected that commercialization of autonomous vehicle with level 3 or higher will begin in earnest. This research aims to evaluate the competitiveness of technology through patent analysis in autonomous driving field. In this study, patent trends were analyzed and patent indicators were analyzed for patents in Korea, the United States, Japan, and Europe that were published and registered until July 2021. Through this, it is going to identify detailed technologies that need to be focused on in order to be competitive in autonomous driving technologies and diagnose Korea's national competitiveness.

  • The recent trains are almost being operated by the mechanical propulsion force to drive the gear and wheel with the traction motor. However Magnetic Levitation Vehicle is differently operated. Magnetic Levitation Vehicle is applied with Linear Induction Motor(LIM) that has many advantage like to high capability of going up to slope, low noise, easy to control of speed. So domestic and many advanced countries are interested in Magnetic Levitation Vehicle and they have been studying about it continuously. Thus this paper is studied the LIM test method of static states and guess the optimum driving point by characteristic of static states for LIM. The test items are measurement of thrust force by changed air gap, measurement of thrust force and normal force by changed slip frequency etc.

  • We describes V2X technology, a connectivity-based recognition technology that is attracting attention as a key technology for implementing autonomous driving technology, and autonomous communication modules that implement ADAS technology, a sensor-based recognition technology. It also explains the trends in V2X technology standardization centered on IEEE 802.11p, which is a WAVE technology standard based on Wi-Fi/DSRC. Finally, we will discuss the market growth trend of V2X communication modules in the United States, the leading V2X technology module, and the development of technology development trends of major domestic and international companies that are leading the global technology market related to V2X communication modules. V2X and ADAS technologies will be the biggest influence on automotive purchasing decisions. In recent years, V2I mandates have been promoted beyond V2V, mainly in developed countries such as the United States. The related industry needs to focus on the development of information transmission network technology that can support high frequency high efficiency(transmission rate) and sophisticated positioning accuracy beyond conventional vehicle communication.

  • Increasing numbers of value added chemicals are being produced using microbial fermentation strategies. Computational modeling and simulation of microbial metabolism is rapidly becoming an enabling technology that is driving a new paradigm to accelerate the bioprocess development cycle. In particular, constraint-based modeling and the development of genome-scale models of industrial microbes are finding increasing utility across many phases of the bioprocess development workflow. Herein, we review and discuss the requirements and trends in the industrial application of this technology as we build toward integrated computational/experimental platforms for bioprocess engineering. Specifically we cover the following topics: (1) genome-scale models as genetically and biochemically consistent representations of metabolic networks; (2) the ability of these models to predict, assess, and interpret metabolic physiology and flux states of metabolism; (3) the model-guided integrative analysis of high throughput 'omics' data; (4) the reconciliation and analysis of on- and off-line fermentation data as well as flux tracing data; (5) model-aided strain design strategies and the integration of calculated biotransformation routes; and (6) control and optimization of the fermentation processes. Collectively, constraint-based modeling strategies are impacting the iterative characterization of metabolic flux states throughout the bioprocess development cycle, while also driving metabolic engineering strategies and fermentation optimization.

  • This paper presents a model predictive control (MPC) approach to control the steering angle in an autonomous vehicle. In designing a highly automated driving control algorithm, one of the research issues is to cope with probable risky situations for enhancement of safety. While human drivers maneuver the vehicle, they determine the appropriate steering angle and acceleration based on the predictable trajectories of surrounding vehicles. Likewise, it is required that the automated driving control algorithm should determine the desired steering angle and acceleration with the consideration of not only the current states of surrounding vehicles but also their predictable behaviors. Then, in order to guarantee safety to the possible change of traffic situation surrounding the subject vehicle during a finite time-horizon, we define a safe driving envelope with the consideration of probable risky behaviors among the predicted probable behaviors of surrounding vehicles over a finite prediction horizon. For the control of the vehicle while satisfying the safe driving envelope and system constraints over a finite prediction horizon, a MPC approach is used in this research. At each time step, MPC based controller computes the desired steering angle to keep the subject vehicle in the safe driving envelope over a finite prediction horizon. Simulation and experimental tests show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
