  • This paper proposes a new linear adaptive position controller of DC servo motor. The proposed method can improve the drive performance and rapidly reject the state error caused by both parameter variations and force disturbance. The structure of this adaptive control method is based multiloop feedback control and model reference control. Simulation results are presented to verify the improved response when parameter variations and load disturbance give relatively significant effects to the servo system.

  • We study how to design conventional feedback controllers to drive chaotic trajectories of the well-known systems to their equilibrium points or any of their inherent periodic orbits. The well-known chaotic systems are Heon map and Duffing's equation, which are used as illustrative examples. The proposed feedback controller forces the chaotic trajectory to the stable manifold as OGY method does. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • This paper describes the optimization of design variables of SLIM using finite element method and SUMT(Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique). Thrust is taken as an objective function in order to maximize thrust under constant current drive, and seven independent design variables and nine constraints are chosen. As a result, $\tau$/g(pole pitch/airgap) and $\tau$/$d_{AL}$(pole pitch/aluminum depth) of good criteria in SLIM design are determined.

A practical identification method for robot system dynamic parameters

  • A practical method of identifying the inertial parameters, viscous friction and Coulomb friction of a robot is presented. The parameters in the dynamic equations of a robot are obtained from the measurements of the command voltage and the joint position of the robot. First, a dynamic model of the integrated motor and manipulator is derived. An off line parameter identification procedure is developed and applied to the University of Minnesota Direct Drive Robot. To evaluate the accuracy of the parameters the dynamic tracking of robot was tested. The trajectory errors were significantly reduced when the identified dynamic parameters were used.

  • Brushless DC motors have trapezoidal back emf waveform. Generally, because it is drived by a voltage source inverter, the ideal rectangular phase current is not available and therefore produce torque ripple. In this paper, the torque ripple due to commutation is analysed and the practical method that can reduce the torque ripple is proposed. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, for high performance as drive, in the speed sensorless vector control of induction motor, introduced flux estimator of voltage model and error compensation algorithm using closed loop integration method, and then we proposed a improved flux estimation method of high accuracy. And the rotor speed is estimating using the stator current and the estimated flux, it is used speed information. The proposed scheme is verified through digital simulations and experiments for 3.7[kW] induction motor and shows good dynamic performance.

  • This experiment implemented a laser projection system that used the 2D MEMS scanner as the driving method for the display device. The 2D MEMS scanner, which can scan the images horizontally and vertically, was applied to drive the projection system using the interlaced scanning method. The laser was directly modulated to implement the grayscale and the images were WVGA resolution quality.

  • An ultrasonic linear motor was composed of a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic oscillator which generates elliptical oscillations. Elliptical oscillations are generated by synthesizing two degenerated modes. Direction of vibratory displacement was analyzed by employing the finite element method. So, we could recognize that the direction of the slider's movement was controlled by changing the Phase difference of the drive voltage.

  • This paper proposes a dead time compensation method for an AC motor drive using phase current polarity information which is detected based on a digital programmable low-pass filter (PLPF). The polarity detection using the PLPF is an alternative solution of a conventional method which uses a general low-pass filter (LPF) and hysteresis bands in order to avoid jittering due to noises. The PLPF not only adjusts its cutoff frequency according to the synchronous frequency of AC motors but also eliminates a gain attenuation and phase delay which are main problems of the general LPF. Through the PLPF, a fundamental component signal without gain and phase distortions is extracted from the measured raw current signal with noise. By use of the fundamental component, the polarity of current is effectively detected by reducing the hysteresis band. Finally, the proposed method compensates the dead time effects by adding or subtracting average voltage value to voltage references of the controller according to the detected current polarity information. The proposed compensation method is experimentally verified by compared with the conventional method.
